Wiring is super important for any racecar and my 240sx is no exception. Here is how you make a fuse panel foryour racecar, it is easier than you think.

Great video and great ideas. I have three busbars. One is Ground or earth. Two is ignition power and Three is constant power.

Working on a boat and I really like how clean this setup is. But with the boat, I need to have two switches that are three position (bilge pump and nav lights). As well as another 5-7 regular on off switches with one momentary. With the Nav lights one switch has 3 positions, you push it up for all your lights (front light, and back light) and then push it down for just your back light. Also with the bilge pump, it needs to have 3 positions, up would be automatic and tie into one wire off the bilge, then down would be manual override which is another wire off the bilge. Center position for both of these switches would be off. Thanks!

That's awesome! It's cool seeing the crossover of boats to cars! Best of luck to you👌

I found this really helpful as I am new to electrical. Any chance of a follow up telling us how this all worked and if there might be anything you'd have done a little different?

Nice work but I’m having trouble understanding how the switch would work. Can you explain how to wire the switch? Thanks.

Nice job,,,,so you still need a fused wire to feed the switch,,but low amps?

Looks awesome. Thank you so much for this video. Quick question what do you do for your wipers and lights? Do you have hi and low beam or just one. And do you have wiper speeds or just one?

That you! Nissan runs the power through the headlight stalk from factory so I just copied them for my 240. I only have 1 speed on my wipers.

Is there need for relays if you have one big cable going from the battery to the fuse box and from the fuse box to all devices like radiator fan, fuel pump, powerwindows etc. Before the fusebox you add a battery killswitch, evertime you stop driving, use the killswitch to disactivate the fuse box. Am I right with my thoughts?

Would the ignition go through this also? For example my ecu needs two power wires, when I hit the switch for ignition it will power the ecu...should that go through this setup? Sorry if that’s confusing lol
@FSOMedia
@FSOMedia 5 жыл бұрын
You should have it on a fuse panel. I have the ecu power coming off the fuse panel and there's a switch interupting it. The fuses will protect the ecu incase too many amps go on that line. Always put everything on fuses just so you have the piece of mind that the fuse will blow and protect the accessory. Let me know if you have any other questions man and I'll try and help if I can👌

Very good presentation. Great explanations. To add, only voltage diminishes with distance. Amperage is the capacity of the wire, and that is determined only by diameter/strands and surface area. Any length of a wire will heat up as more amperage is required. It will heat the same in one inch as it will in 100. What is the amperage rating for the junction block? I looked at your link and it appears to not show the amperage rating for each circuit. Given the price, I suspect it is 15 or 20 amps per circuit. The relays will be at least 30 amps capacity, as is the fuse box per circuit. Wait, I went to the link and it does not list the amperage capacity of the individual circuits. The whole box is rated to 100 amps total, but what is the limit on the circuits? They free fuses, and they only go to 20 amps. Are they saying that is the largest fuse you can use? Everything I buy on Amazon has amperage ratings, and I never buy something without at least a "claim". Likely, a 30 amp rated junction strip could work better. Be careful to check the gauge of the wires installed in the relay connectors. The ones you list do not say what gauge wire is used. I prefer 12awg for 30 amp relays.

Red wire (30) is power IN from fuse block. White wire isnt used. Yellow wire (86) is Power to switches. Blue wire (87) is power out to accessory.

0:41 That's when I show the diagram for these relays. Totally different than what you said. Maybe you're talking about different relays but the ones I have are wired correctly.

Thanks! I got everything for it off of amazon (links are in the description). I haven't really had a whole lot of seat time with these coilovers but so far I like them. They are really smooth after 40mph and just soak up bumps. They feel a little softer than regular coilovers under 40 but are still bumpy. I may go to softer springs and see how that goes but out of the box they are pretty good

So if white goes to the toggle switch and yellow goes to the accessory power where do you put the other pin to the toggle switch I’m confused I’d like to do this myself trying to understand how this works
@FSOMedia
@FSOMedia 5 жыл бұрын
The other side of the switch goes to ground. When you flip the switch and ground out the relay it'll activate and bring power to the accessory. I've got another video where I did the whole chassis harness and everything is time stamped in the description if you have more questions. Hopefully that helps you out and if not feel free to ask👌

Awesome looking panel, thanks for the help... would have preferred if you identify the relay terminals by # too, as not all relays have the same color wires.

If you’re still using the factory key does the power coming from accessory wire on ignition switch go straight to fuse block or to a relay first ?
@FSOMedia
@FSOMedia 3 жыл бұрын
You can do it either way as long as the wires on the ignition are thick enough to handle the amps.
