Great video and yes I found someone who made their own vacuum forming block/Frame thing. I will be making one soon as this would be great for some of my DIY Car Audio Projects.

Thank you for making this video. I invented a baby potty seat and tried to get a shop to make it. I already self made a fiberglass mold and made a few epoxy prototypes. Long story short, i got screwed over by the thermoforming shops. I think the only way to make it economically in the near term is to rig up a similar contraption like yours. Thank you again sir

That is pretty amazing and very informative! Always love seeing your work. Off subject but in agreement with the previous posts, hook us up with the puppet body video please. I've been using your technique for the head but the bodies never come out quite right. Thanks again for sharing what you do!

I think you can dissolve the polystyrene scraps in acetone, stir occasionally, it forms a thick syrup that can be used as glue, store is a jar with tight lid.

What heat setting did you use? I believe these heaters have a I,II, and III heat setting. Thanks for the great video!

Maybe you should consider getting a used oven from somewhere and use that to soften your plastic. Other than that, its a great video for a DIY guy such as myself.

I have a question about doing this. I have a mold that is 9.25 inches square and 5 inches high. The center is open. My platform on the vacuum box is 10 inches. My sheet is .06 inch thick and 12x12. Think it will work?

+Jesse Carr: There’s one way to know for sure! Try it! Sounds like it will work as long as it’s heated enough evenly.

Cut the heighth down on your heating box and line it with sheet metal
@PuppetNerd

Why?
@tedpeek76
@tedpeek76 6 жыл бұрын
Instead of rebuilding the box. Just line it. And cutting the heighth down a cpl inches should speed up your warming time. Just my 2c

@@tedpeek76 Sorry about being 2 years late, but anyway I'm about to build something like this myself. In particular I'm worried about the heating box. Will lining the inside of the box with sheet metal actually be effective in both protecting the wood and heating the plastic faster?
