I just completed this repair in about 30 mins. I appreciate the warning about sharp edges, I could see how someone could cut themselves pretty badly. That said, this is definitely a DIY repair any novice could do. Thanks for putting together the video!

Just a suggestion for the sharp edges on the machine . A roll of blue painters tape would come in handy as you could run a strip over the edges and remove when you are done . Tha type of tape pulls off easily.

You are an absolute godsend. As I contemplated actually getting a new washer over this President's Day weekend, I decided to see what KZfaq said first. 😁 Maybe it could be an inexpensive repair call. But better yet, an easy DIY. Local stores didn't have the part but I was able to order it Friday evening and get it shipped quick with Amazon. The part arrived by 2 and I was finished fixing everything by 2:45. Not a bang. Not a peep. Flawless victory! If you don't count the one chipped nail, but who cares about that. Just an FYI, I searched for an Amana NTW4600YQ1 and this DIY came up. It was a great help in prepping and replacing the rods. The big difference I guess between the 4600 and 4700 are springs the slip on to the rods and drums. The kits for the rods do not come with the springs so if you have a 4600 double check for springs

I found this video in the same way and appreciate the step by step instructions, warnings on sharp edges and heads up on the springs comment. My question is if the kit comes with the springs and I don't see any upon disassembly of my model washer, is it that they just sell the kit this way to be able to sell for both models or did they make improvements to the design and reccomend using the springs upon replacement of models thst didn't have them or can you even use them due to the original design not having them? Big thanks to the video creator for the video and details of the repair.

Thanks for posting. I have the exact same washer. I replaced the suspension rods, but that didn’t solve the problem. It’s still kinda shaking during the spin cycle.

Mohammed Aldujaili another thing that you can do it's a just the legs sometimes the cabinet is touching the floor because the legs are screwed all the way in

I just about believe these washers are cheaply made not design to last long a peace of crap. Worst investment I ever made in a washing machine. Everybody I know that had one of these had issues with them. You get exactly what you paid for. Worked fine for a while brand new then a few short years later a peace of junk.

I have that same machine, I replaced the shocks,it went well but its still shaking. Not nearly as bad as before. Did I do something wrong? Or could I have another problem? Good video!

Make sure you adjust all four legs on the washer sometimes when the cabinet is touching the floor will do that as well

This was so helpful! But now for some reason it wont wash! Idid a diagnostic test and the wash and lid lock lights stayed on, not sure what that means! Before changing the springs it was bouncing all around, now it doesn’t bounce but it doesn’t wash or spin either, I would appreciate your help any further!

If it wasn’t giving you that issue before you work on the shocks that means something went wrong on the lid lock mechanism or the actuator disconnect the washer for 30 minutes and then close the lid and put it on rinse and spin cycle to see if that helps

Our repair man just changed two of the shocks saying only two were bad and it’s still vibrating like crazy.. should we have ( he have) changed all ? Would two new ones cause the older ones to fail ?

I replaced suspension rods and i know i did it correctly. But it still shakes for a bit right before spin cycle but when it spins on spin cycle its working fine. Is there another part that causes shaking problems as well?

Changed the suspension rods and added 4 new springs. Made 1 load and it started banging again. Recheched everything and all was still intact . Any suggestions?

What would cause an amana washer to kick out of balance when starting to spin in my case it's not a spring or suspension rods tub is out of round thinking maybe a worn bushing or bent shaft internally??

Did you figure out this issue? I am having the same problem, replaced the suspension rods but the tub still slams into the wall and stops spinning the moment it attempts a spin cycle.

Why do these washers have holes for the little springs that connect to the rods but doesn't have them installed? I have a Admiral that looks identical.

They make this cabinets and tubs for other models that they are bigger and more cubic feet Those washers need the little springs because they are bigger and work differently if yours doesn't bring the little springs your washer does not need them even if you install them they will not make any difference if you have a balance problem you need to replace the big Shocks and I just the four legs

@@DIYRepairsNow so I replaced my rods and it still shakes and bangs around the cabinet. The washer is level aswell. What else could it be you think? It doesn't bang however when there is nothing in it.

You can do it Toyota time or one at a time, but not all four because because the tub will be completely of from the cabinet, and if Something Happens you can damage the wiring’s or any other parts but you can do it all the time. Is this fix for if the washer drum is banging against the side of the washer, it bags so hard I can see it protrude out of the side during spin mode

If you push down your drum end it bounce more than once that means it will fix it

After inspection the piece on top is broken on the sides from the banging , does this piece also need to be replaced ? If so do you have a video for this top piece ?

RJS IND No you don’t have to replace the top piece unless it’s broken in a way that is splashing water out of the tub I had that situation in the past and I only replace the shocksIn case you have to replace it I don’t have a video from another model but is a similar procedure I will put a link for you

Example of a suspension rod that is no good would be nice..not sure exactly of what is considered no good...what are diffrnt types of wear and tear sighns that would effect the balance of spin cysle

Is a reason why nobody shows wear and is because it’s no way to tell they will look just like normal If you compare the one comes brand new in a box to the ones you have you won’t see any difference and that’s why you have to push the top down the only way to tell if they are weak it’s if the tub pounds more than ones wish that’s what I explain on the videos thanks for your message and thanks for watching my video

I recommend yes lean it and do it one at a time everybody works different this is the way I do it because of safety if you remove all 4 at the time you got a remember that it's wires and the pressure switch tube that can get damage Thanks for your comment

Push the drum down and just make sure it does in bounds more than ones if it bounced more than once your problem is still the shocks if it doesn’t is the shaft and that’s a major repair and this link shows you how to push down the drum and see if it burns more than once

Recently I ran into the same issue and for some reason the The new shocks wash or either shorter or more strong so the tub was raised up and it was heating the metal on the front left corner after a band that piece of metal up in a way that it will not touch the tub fix my issue you can try that
