So much about this show. This was their first big festival outside Japan. Most people didn't know them. Many started to hate them cuz they thought Babymetal was not metal even today they have haters. They played 5 songs and this was the last song. Su was 16 and the others were 15. After this appearance, Babymetal merchandise outsold all other bands for three days afterwards. This is a pivotal moment in Babymetal history. This is where Babymetal stood up to the world and said we are here and we aint going no where. Now you talk about how confident Su is. Their second song was Gimmie Chocolate. During that song Su had a crowd, in a foriegn country that didnt know them before this, actually had them sing along with her in Japanese. That is confidence. A 16 year old little girl can stand in front of 60,000 foriegn people and get them to sing with her, that is CONFIDENCE. This song is still some of our top favorites. And also it is about no more bullying.

There 30+ minute set at the Sonisphere 2014 is a very special event in their history. There is an great story behind all of this, and I know someone will chime in soon, with the details. But their performance at this event is my favorite of all their performances because of how they got bumped up from a small side tent (expecting just a couple thousand to show) to the main stage, and having around 65,000 people have their minds blown and their faces melted when they saw and heard BABYMETAL for the FIRST time. The fans at this event are known to throw things at bands that they dont like, and at this time, many of the the people who did hear of BABYMETAL were hating on them based on their videos up to this point and thought they were a joke..I think especially because of "Gimme Chocolate" which had gone viral a few months before. At the end you can hear the crowd yelling "we want more. we want more."

Great reaction to a great song and an historic performance, their first major event outside of Japan in front of 50-60,000 metalheads who, mostly, didn't have a clue who they were. I say mostly - they did have some of their own fans, many had flown in from Japan specially and there were some other who had seen their Gimme Chocolate video (that went viral a little while before this) and were there to hate on them - there had been threats made on social media of bottles of piss being thrown at this "gimmick band making a mockery of metal". The girls were worried about that before going on stage - they were even more worried what to do if there was nobody there to see them at all (they couldn't see the crowd from backstage). They turned the puzzled looks on the sea of faces at the start into a lot of smiling faces calling for "one more song" with just 5 songs - and no bottles were thrown. This was the last song of their set - the title means 'Bullying, No More, For Ever' so yes that choreo you mentioned with Yui and Moa fighting each other was exactly what they were doing - until Su stepped between them and threatened to kick them both in the head if they didn't stop the bullying.

Ah!! Sonisphere, maybe the one thing that made Babymetal what they are today. It all started with a Facebook campaign, some started a post to try and get Sonisphere to invite Babymetal to play there, which started to gather some pace, and the people who book the bands took notice and offered them a slot (something they admitted on the website). At the time it was very rare for Japanese bands to play outside the Asian market, as there is not normally the fan base for it. But the Babymetal management took a leap of faith and booked 3 shows plus Sonisphere, 2 shows before and 1 in London after it. At Sonisphere they were supposed to be in a side tent on the Sunday. But when they were announced, due to the interest they generated, also the London show selling out in a few hours (1k). A week after the announcement, they got moved to the main stage on the Saturday as openers and the London show got moved to a bigger venue (2.5k) which sold out in a week. The tent they were 1st going to play holds about 5k, and as you may see from the video there may have been up to 50k watching them. The thing with openers at Sonisphere, is that openers normally get about 5k or 10k if you are known. There was 1 guy there, working, who guided the press in to the area in front of the stage, he just happened to own a company that organises tours around Europe. When he saw the size of the crowd and the effect they had on the people there, he realised this was a band going places, so offered his services after the show, which they took him up on. In an interview about the show, SuMetal said that from backstage they could not see the crowd, due to the height of the stage and them being short (5'2"), and she thought that there was only about 500 people there at most. They had also been warned that if the crowd does not like you, they will throw bottles at you. But when they walked out on to the stage all they could see was a sea of faces. So when they walked out to Babymetal Death, they were all very nervous. If you ever watch the fan cam's of that, you can see the point Su realises that they had won the crowd over, and they were starting to eat everything up. It's near the end of BMD when she walks up to the front of the stage and a small smile come on to her face, one of we've got this. And they turned all the nervous energy in to one of the best acts to play that whole 3-day event. And so started Babymetal love of the UK, which was really helped by the London show, 2 days later.

I know perfectly well whether I could keep up with their dance routines: I wouldn't last a single song. I love the final scenes of this video, Su's obvious happiness after the last "We are", and how they are just standing there for a moment at the end to take it all in. They must have felt very relieved and proud.

This was not a Babymetal moshushu. This set was at Sonisphere, and was their introduction to the world stage, their first metal festival outside Asia. They were moved to the main stage, and instead of having a couple thousand fans on their side stage, they played before 50,000 who had never heard them before. By the end of their set they completely won them over. At the time of this performance, they didn't have a record contract in the west, and the only way to get their music was to import from Japan. A record deal in Europe and America was a year off. What I notice in this song is that Yui's skirt got caught in one of her studs, and was unravelling during the performance. And no one missed a beat. Which is amazing stage presence for 15/16 year olds. Not to mention walking out on stage expecting bottles of piss to be thrown at you but not giving AF. They were being threatened with it before the show and the girls were warned.

You're exaggerating. The people in the front definitely knew who Babymetal was. They were fans. I saw a Japanese flag. I think it would have gone very badly for them if they tried to throw things at Babymetal. Everybody close to the stage were fans. Granted there were a lot of people there who had no idea who Babymetal was. I wish i could be at a Babymetal show right next to someone who tried to throw a bottle at babymetal. It would be worth them doing it so i could beat the crap out of them :)

@@Jordan-Ramses There were over 50k in the crowd, of which maybe 2k were fans, and that's generous. I was a fan at the time and the only concert footage available was an okay quality Summer Sonic 2013 set on KZfaq. For the vast majority of the crowd, this was the introduction.

Of all things I miss about that era of Babymetal, it's the "See you!" at the end of every performance. It's a strange mixture of sweetness mixed with a hint of cheekiness. Thanks for a great reaction :-) And just let me say, thanks for not cutting videos short - you'd have missed what I think is one of the most charming moments of this iconic performance. Cheers!

The guitarist you are talking about is Mikio Fujioka. I think at that moment he almost forgot to mute the guitar for the break. Hit the pedal and laughed. He died in the beginning of 2018 as result of a fall from an observation deck a couple of weeks before. He was a great guitarist and added something to the show with his sounds, whirls, and harmonics. His last show with Babymetal was in December 2017 in Hiroshima. If you watch the video for No Rain No Rainbow from that show. They focus on him throughout the video. Lots of stuff with him online. Look him up.

"Ijime" roughly means bullying, "Dame" means stop," Zettai" means absolutely, so this can roughly be translated to absolutely no bullying. This song apparently was made as a respoinse to western metal bands and journalists claiming Babymetal is not metal. (If someone knows more on that, feel free to elaborate.)

The part of the lyrics you are eager to know is: "Pain... Aching... All the while... Alone... Your heart... Pretending not to notice... Anymore... I'll never get away. Bullying, No, Absolutely." But let me give you the complete package: *IJIME, DAME, ZETTAI* (Bullying, No, Absolutely) [Rururu...] [Ah.] Dreaming, I couldn't have even it. Between the light and the darkness, I stayed alone. Those who got hurt were not only I myself, but also those who kept on watching me. It was you. Confidence, [Have it!] I couldn't have. [Don't be beaten!] I kept on hiding [I dislike to be found!] until yesterday. [Yesterday is gone!] But good-bye to yesterdays' myself. [Bye-bye!] Bullying. [No!] Bullying. [No!] It's disgraceful. [No! No! No! No!] Sometimes you get hurt, sometimes you hurt someone, and we all get badly hurt. Fox, [Fly!] Fox, [Fly!] I'm sure you can fly. [Fly! Fly! Fly! Fly!] Let your pain and sadness all go outside! It's OK because I'll protect you. I didn't show my tears, and in the night I was about to cry, in a room deep inside my heart, I stayed alone. Those who hurt me were not only someone else, but also those who pretended not to notice. It was my friend. Nothing [Nothing!] could I say. [Say nothing!?] I was about to give up [No easy throwing out!] until yesterday. Pain... Aching... All the while... Alone... Your heart... Pretending not to notice... Anymore... I'll never get away. Bullying, No, Absolutely. Full of dearest-ness, it's pressuring but also encouraging. Anymore, anymore your... I don't want to see anymore your tearful face. Bullying. [No!] Bullying. [No!] It's disgraceful. [No! No! No! No!] Sometimes you get hurt, sometimes you hurt someone, and we all get badly hurt. Fox, [Fly!] Fox, [Fly!] I'm sure you can fly. Let your pain and sadness all go outside! It's OK because I'll protect you. Bullying, No, absolutely. [No! No! No! No!] Bullying, No, forever. Bullying, No, absolutely. [No! No! No! I appreciate your reaction from Japan 有難う💛。 "Dame Zettai (= absolutely no)" part of this title is originated from police campaign against illegal drugs which had started 1960s. So this song emphasizes that "Ijime (= bullying)" is considered as worst thing as illegal drugs. Although we have not been able to eliminate "Ijime" from our society yet unfortunately, we have to continue our efforts at home and in school. Talking about relation between 3 girls and Kami-band, girls once said "We feel we have been protected all the time by Kami band" and Kamis said "The girls took us to stages in the world. We have nothing but gratitude towards them". This is the ideal relations between talented front performers and supporting super musicians, isn't it ?

"We want more! We want more!!!" More what? BABYMETAL!!!! Yes. Ahhh the Sonisphere of 2014! Many consider this to be a major turning point for Babymetal. As said in the comments, this performance garnered attention for Babymetal in the western metal scenes, but it also greatly bolstered their popularity back Japan. While they were already pretty popular in Japan, this show and the attention it grabbed, made serious news back in Japan and almost made them a household name in the metal amd music industry! So...this really was Babymetal history in the making!!! Another thing, this was a European festival, so most of that crows was European. So, moshsh didn't really exist here. It was just a regular mosh for the most part. Since more of the western fan base started really researching Babymetal history, the moshsh is becoming more and more of a thing even with westerners! Great stuff! Please do keel it up! Try Awadama Fever (grindy music and super cute vocals and choreo) or Night Night Burn (my fav from Galaxy). Kitsune up! \m/

The Fox Hole is both wider and deeper than you thought it was! Kitsune up! OH, had to giggle when you started to stop it near the end...and then there was that "Oh, yeah, I remember that last shitstorm..." kinda look. Comedy gold, man!

Ijime, Dame, Zettai (Bullying, no way/no good, absolutely if you translate it literally) is one of their big early songs. They actually stopped performing it after Yui went on hiatus at the end of 2017 (last time they did was the first concert without her, Legend S, Su's 20th birthday show). They included it again in January this year in their Metal Galaxy shows and the crowd went crazy. It was the last song of the second night and it's with all three Avengers (the "support dancers") on stage together. It's also the first time we hear their voices whilst with Babymetal, even though it's only on the backing track. Yes, they were fighting and Su essentially tells them to quit it when she kicks at both of them. This is one of those songs I definitely want and need a split cam, especially at the fighting scene. I want to see guitar god Mikio doing the solo but I want to see the fighting choreo, too. The DragonForce vibe you get is probably because they are one of the first bands anyone thinks of when they hear Power Metal characteristics in songs, which I,D,Z definitely has a few of. Don't know if anyone got you a link to the lyrics and explanations behind them of the song (and all other songs from the first two albums), yet, but here it is. du-metal.blogspot.com/2013/07/ijime-dame-zettai.html . But you should look them up before or after a song. It's too distracting if you do it while listening in my opinion.

Great reaction again! The Fox God appreciates your Babymetal reactions and says you'll have 8000 subscribers by Sunday at the very latest. Babymetal Mosh Pits (and they had as many as 5 going at once in their 2020 Metal Galaxy Legend concert) are Mosh'Shh Pits as Babymetal christened them, where everyone revolves in one direction and no-one gets hurt. But they like them big, though. Babymetal - reinventing mosh pits, hand signs and Metal itself! Gotta love 'em. This performance always moves me because I know what it meant for the girls and the Kami Band - acceptance outside of Japan and an entrance into the Western Metl world. And, of course, they killed it! PS "Y'all said she ain't got no harmony" - Really, someone said that? ⚡ 💀 💕 / 🚫 And… that's how you win over metalheads on your first UK appearance. They pronounce it a few times in the song, but you can just refer to the song as "I-D-Z". BABYMETAL fans will know what you're talking about. : )

Just say IDZ. Much easier. We know what that is :) The Kami Band is playing the music but they don't write it. For the most part. I think one of the guitarists has contributed to a few songs. But the music is all Babymetal. If you want to shout out somebody for the creativity that is Koba and the team that writes their music. The Kami Band can't make songs like this. Babymetal is very much a team effort. Everybody has a role.

Great reaction to my favorite Babymetal song and the performance that made me a fan. Don’t really hear much punk, more NWOBM like to me. Of course NWOBM had punk influences so hey. Oh and Steve Harris would kill me because he said there were ZERO punk influences in Maiden.

Nice reaction. But strange that reaction videos i have seen often compare Kami band with Dragon force. It´s always Kami band sounds like Dragon force. No buddy says Dragon force sounds like Kami band!! 🤔

If I'm thinking of the same person, he's set that KZfaq video to "Private" now. Maybe he realized how dumb he sounded. : )
