Most of my flights are long-range, so I love seeing you push the limits. Looks like a great drone, just can’t bring myself to purchase DJI because of their flight-restriction programming. Especially with Remote ID on the horizon later this year. Even these sub-250 grams drones can still be geofenced and grounded from taking off.

Yea i agree with you on a lot of points there. My mini 3 pro has the remote ID functioning even now already i think according to the startup notifications. And im on the standard 249g battery. So i dont know why its checking and verifying remote ID anyway, everytime i start it up.. Does the DJI 03 Air Unit when using the DJI Goggles and Remote Controller or even a seperate TX/RX Setup, have the remote ID stuff built into it as well? Because i cant tell in some videos if its info from the Avata itself. Not many BNF videos i seen not using the dji remote or showing if that is still present in the screen. Would the air unit itself have remote id built into it? What do have and what have been some good avata sized bnf drones as well as a regular LR BNF quad? What TX and protocol do you use?

I stopped watching when you got to where the drone last reported it’s location. But you were handicapped by its dead battery and its color against all the snow. Just a tip. VIFLY makes a motion activated buzzer beacon that only weighs a couple grams for drones. They are about $15 each. You attach it to the drone (I use Velcro so I can move it from one drone to another) and when the drone stops moving for a few minutes it starts emitting a uniquely high pitched beep and flashes a little green strobe light. I think fully charged it is supposed to run for over 24 hours. Check it out. I love the gadget. And I have put red reflector tape, common to any auto supply store, o my drones as well. I had one go down in tall grass and the red tape caught my eye immediately. Great video!

I have been flying the original Mavic Pro for years and it has served it's useful life. I started looking around at all the different models of drones and zoned in on the Mini 3 Pro. I have one coming later this month and I am jazzed about doing the upgrade. I lost line of sight with the Mavic Pro within minutes so it should be just seconds with a quiet mini drone. I always got kind of a knot in my stomach when the drone went out of line of sight but with these new drones and three-way obstacle sensing with decent looking "bypass" flying technology that looks like it all works, I think I may be more comfortable with it. I am happy to see that this mini is stable enough in the wind and these range tests confirm that I should not have a problem getting the kind of video and images that I would be after even at height and a ways away. I have watched maybe six KZfaq videos on the Mini 3 Pro and two of them were range tests. Watching a drone fly along for five miles is pretty impressive especially in sub freezing temperatures. Both videos I watched for range tests ended up in forced landings and damage. So the take away for me was that the "useful" range looks like around 1.5 miles if someone is going to spend time doing photography and then get it back to the home point on one battery. It is definitely impressive and I am looking forward to flying with it.

Great video Dustin! 👌A real nail biter!! and beautiful scenery. I concur with your assessment of the fragility of the M3Pro. Had a low speed, low altitude (3m) active track crash and had to return to DJI as it cracked the R rear arm at the motor casing. That was the second crash!! The first was another low altitude (2m) crash into a tree trunk. As I pushed the R stick forward, a wind gust pushed it sideways 🙄 On that occasion, the rotating joint on the front L arm was damaged.! I was flying the Mini2 for a while before and it was a lot more robust. Thx for taking the risks to inform the rest of us. Great work 👍

From my cold weather experience with my DJI Mini 3 Pro, I find that my lack of use of adequate winter gear gave me the most challenge. Trying to use the controller without gloves in cold weather is very difficult especially if you have a shaky hand already. My coldest flight was at 5° Farenheit, but was a flight that did not go beyond my driveway. Nice scenery during video, thanks Dustin.

I was so torn between it and the avata but after flying a friends mini today with the goggles integra and motion controller I chose the mini. the quietness, flight time ,size and camera sold me on the mini..I love doing long, far flights exploring mountain tops...think the mini will be the best choice! Thanks for this awesome video Dustin! What I cannot understand is that you've got 276K subscribers and only 1.4K likes. You (spoiler alert) taught us the limits of the DJI Mini 3 Pro, pushed to the upper limit, lost your drone, went on a search and rescue mission alone in the dark with a flash lamp and some food and water in your backpack but did not find the drone. Went to bed with some regrets and swears, asked your son Ken to join you on a second S&R mission that was successful! Man, you deserve at least 100K likes! I hope you have the DJI Care Refresh insurance and got yourself a brand new mini 3 pro. I would have landed that thing on my mom's porch if I were you. Nice story, thanks again!

My Mavic 2 was did the same pausing during RTH, as if it was stopping for an obstacle. I double checked that the sensors were turned off before having to manually fly home. I did some searching through the settings, and under "advanced" I saw "use obstacle avoidance during RTH," which overrides your settings even if you had obstacle avoidance turned of for normal flight. Lesson learned on that one! Damn near had force land in the trees.

Great video, sorry to hear about the damage. Finding the Mini 3 in the snow is rough. I had a drone fail where it dropped from about 150ft and tumbled down a tree and into the snow. It was powder and the drone got covered when it hit the ground and I ended up stepping on it with my snow shoes and broke an arm. Thankfully it only ended up being an $89 fix from DJI and the ended up sending me a new drone. Thanks for the great video!

I know when it first came out a lot of people had problems. My friend has is had a few hassles Personally I don't like the mini 3 Pro it may be good for going over trees and things like I don't like to design keeping with the mini one or two or se and the new mini 2 se. That is my personal opinion about it I still think the mini 2 is best one tho. Well I hope you have better luck with the new one U get.

Not to derail the discussion, but my wife is from New Mexico, and the first time I went with her to visit her family, I was stunned at how mountainous and beautiful it is. Ive only ever passed through New Mexico on the way to the Northwest or the Southeast states when I was a kid. Anyway, I confided in my wife after the trip that I was dreading it because I thought it was going to be flat, dusty, dry, cactus, boring, etc. etc. I was so delighted to be wrong, and now I get just as excited for trips to see her family as I do mine. Also, she loves to jab me about my misconception of her home state. lol New Mexico is beautiful and diverse.

I'm fairly new to drones, it wasn't until I saw this I that I realised there was a way to find a downed drone. Sure enough my Parrot software showed it's last known position when I lost it the previous day. Using my phone's gps I was able to track it down in the middle of a cornfield after just 10 minutes of searching. Still no idea why it fell out of the sky, other than a possible bird strike. Thanks for the great videos Dustin.

Exhilarating as always Dustin. Flying in the thin air at 7000' used more power. In the cold the arms snap off easily. I broke one off from a 3' fall. Might want to try a Max Range test where you ignore the battery, fly out until signal is totally lost, stop when signal returns, then land at an easily accessible location for retrieval. Don't forget to reset the Home Point above the remote landing site else RTH will kick in when signal drops as it lands.

I can remember a time with my mini 2 where I flew out at night. I was flying into the wind like I’m supposed to but on return home the drone was flying soooo slow. Needless to say I didn’t recover it that night so the very next morning I tracked it to a home. The owner came out with his son and said he would check his backyard. He returned stating he didn’t see it so I asked if I could look. And lo an behold it had landed in the middle of their trampoline 🤣 Talk about luck 🤷‍♂️ but thank the lord. I’ve never had a drone that didn’t make it back as much as my mini 2. And I can’t really see what my mini 3 can do because the range sucks on the new rc😅

@typ8723 Жыл бұрын
Impressive. It's possible for me to cover ~4.5-4.7 miles and return to my starting point without much difficulty (10-15% battery). In my opinion, wind plays a huge factor -- the drone exerts more effort during its return journey, particularly at higher altitudes, depending on the direction and strength of the wind.

36:30 You would have made it just in time (in spite of the RTH thing) because at 23mph you were clicking off 2000ft per min and was lining up just right, but then it dropped way down to the teens mph and there was no batt margin for that. So at that low of batt the speed drops too much to count on same pace home. Awesome vid as usual.

Your range tests are the best, I bought the Mini 3, Mini 3 Pro & AIR 2s, after watching your range tests. I'm eagerly waiting for your Mini 4 Pro range test. I'm probably going to order one today though anyway. Would you recommend the Mini 4 Pro over the AIR 3? I already have 4 plus batteries & 3 regular batteries for my wife's Mini 3 & my Mini 3 Pro. That reason has me leaning towards the Mini 4 Pro, but if you think the AIR 3, brings more to the table, I would seriously consider getting the AIR 3 instead.

Geez ... another hair-raising adventure. I think I should have a couple of shots or some valium before I watch your "range test" videos ... they are always heart stoppers! I kept saying (while you were coming back/down) "Keep it up high .. altitude is your friend". Since this was a replacement unit, and you may or may not have done updates, you should check ALL the settings. A lot of times settings get changed after an update. The RTH action may have been set to 'hover' instead of return to home. Anytime there is any kind of update, I recheck all the settings on my M3P. Well, glad you got it back .. nice to have an extra set of eyes to help. Oh, & you're probably correct about the cold affecting the plastic, making it brittle. Hope you get it fixed & back soon. My M3P is my 'go to' UAV now .. just so easy to get in the air. Cheers!

In the city I got 12039 with the alfa apa 25 I got 20,000 and came back because of the battery. When coming back I was only moving 10 mph so I had to kick it into sport mode. I came up 1000 feet short and emergency landed it at a light pole. I found it and lesson learned. Watch the wind direction more and if it's doing 35 mph in normal mode your going with the wind.

Aw man that was exciting lol. Nearly 7 miles that's crazy. I have the mini2 and would love some extended battery life do they do these batteries for the mini 2?. Can only find the intelligent normal upto 31min batteries online.

This was a great video. I only get about 10,000 feet from my Mini 3 even in a rural area. I can't believe the distance you're getting. Hope you get her fixed. Do you have the DJI Refresh plan? Thx again!
