Thanks for the great comparisons. I still haven't pulled the trigger on the Pocket 2. Maybe sometime next year I'll take the plunge. I had surgery a couple of weeks ago and have gotten behind in my video viewing. It's nice to be able to get caught up with what I've missed. Hope you're doing well my friend.

No boringness but rich content, not like some Osmo Pocket reviewers that have boring sound and undetailed thoughts/tests (and surprisingly they're overrated). Thank you to you too! I wish at the end of the next year, you can reach 50k sub or higher. The KZfaq viewers just didn't discover this channel yet.

Hey mate great video as usual! Just a quick question. How did you manage to zoom in the audio on the pocket 2? I have been trying to figure this out but can't seem to find this setting?

Hey better mankind, it should automatically do that.. Its not going to increase your sound that much , about 10 percent according to my settings.. ask someone to sit on a chair tell them to speak and stand about 5 meters away... see if the zoom gets louder after you zoom... by the way, you need to double clock the right button on your joystick to make it go into Zoom mode, or Joystick Mode... or vica versa..

They should have keep the 26mm equivalent in the pocket 2. For wide angle we always have action cams

Both! I believe it crops into the sensor, but I didnt physically crop in on the frame.. Its not a bad zoom, its not great either, but if you dont zoom that much in then it looks ok, also if you use 1080p it zooms 4 times I think, but you can zoom in 2 times and it still looks pretty ok

I do like these comparison videos. Is there a difference in image with different fps settings? I shoot in 25fps, as I integrate footage from different cameras in my films.

Well, FPS will generally be used at 24 or 25 and if your shutter speed is 1/50 then you obeying the 180 degree shutter rule, would look more natural to people watching, 60 fps would be used for slow motion most of the time .. Hope that answers you Alice

Good video, appreciated and thanks HowToGuy! I just got my Pocket 2 Creator edition yesterday, direct from China. The camera and accessories came with the latest firmware's. Do you usually use D-Cinelike? I use Vegas Pro 18 for editing, but I'm not very good at it. So far, I only work with Brightness, Contrast, and Color saturation. Can you provide any tips on making D-Cinelike with the Pocket look best? I don't suppose there's a LUT to do the work?

Hey Tom.. To me honest, normal color looks fine.. I mean you can add a bit of contrast if you use cinelike, even done shadow and brighten or sharpen if you want.. But this is not a 10 bit Camera, so you can't really do they much.. But I'm also not sure If i know of any luts.. I'm sure people out there are making them though..also i use davinci resolve for my videos.. Look into That.. Its pretty powerful

Finally someone covered the small questions Pocket 2 + Wide. Vs. Pocket 1 Freewell Pocket 2 Wireless Mic Vs Pocket 1 W Rode Wireless Go Tracking Zoom Awesome Coverage. My take... if already invested in Pocket 1 (Freewell Wide / ND / Rode, Pocket Accessories) probably not worth the switch to Pocket 2. Wish you had the Freewell Anamorphic on the Pocket 2 vs on the Pocket 1. Great Video

No there is always a little distortion with those wide angle lenses, not sure if they can correct that unless they do it in software, you notice it if you show the side of a building a pan up

Excellent test and review ..!!!! . I think that if you own the OP1 , and bought all the attachments that were needed ..like the external RODE mic , and the Freewell Wide lens , ect, ect …there is very little that the OP2 has to offer..to be honest…I personally feel that the new OP2 should have been called OP1 version 1.5 …!!! I guess to be any truly “ worth “ upgrade to the people that bought the OP1 - with the mentioned attachments - will have to wait for the release of the OP5 ??? or something like that . Anyhow mate ..great review and test …keep it up .. Chhheeeerrrssss..!!!! 👍

Hey Ramon you make some very good points, Its hard to justify the change, I do believe the video quality is better, but thats mainly if you like to vlog.. it does come out nice, and the focus us good.. better than the first one, but I would have loved it it had that 1 inch sensor.. such a pitty..

Currently pocket 1+ wide angle lens is available at half the price of pocket 2. Do you think I should go for it? I will be mostly be using it for pov shots, some vlogging and b rolls. I need something small to go with my Sony main camera. What do you recommend?

7:04 I don't have any bouncing left or right. 16Mpx stills are better than 64. P2 microphones for me is awesome. Just what I have noticed so far. I also like that Exif data is added as subtitles in Pocket 2 videos. You can see subtitles like using VLC. I like more P2 timelapses. Waiting a lot more firmware upgrades tbh. Tripod is crap it should have straight legs when not used. I also used high Q with Pocket 1 but battery saver in Pocket 2. It just seems better.

I will include more Exif data next time I shoot, I will also try include more Timelapse in the videos. The tripod is Not great you right, but it comes in Useful if your ground is not that level. Pocket 2 startup is faster if you use the function button on the front to turn it on. Or so it seems. DJI have said on their forum that a firmware update including fixes for tracking is under test and should be out this month. I guess the release date was related to black friday and Christmas sales peaks. Marketing usually trumps engineering! Edited to add that one user has commented that the wifi on the P2 is much faster than on the P1 (presumably when transferring stuff to the phone). And another afterthought - I couldn't be sure but the Freewell wide angle when fitted to the P2 seemed to have significant issues at the edges - it might be worth checking that with a static shot focussed at a distance. I wouldn't expect a lens designed to be used with a lens on one camera to be optically correct in conjunction with a lens on another camera. Some lens and filter companies are labelling their original products as not compatible with the P2.

Ultra wide angle lens is much clearer and better. -WIFI connectivity is much worse on P2 vs P1 .. will probably be fixed .. not sure about copying files, havent really noticed anything or tried anything there

Hello Graham, there are issues with WIFI (on my phone), disconnects alot, they will most likely have to fix this very shortly, its probably just a few bugs.. Peter Nichols just wrote this "DJI have said on their forum that a firmware update including fixes for tracking"

My Pocket 1 drives me nuts in Auto exposure. When I tilt the camera up or down instead of a slow transition light and dark. It does it very fast. Looks non pro. Is their a setting that I could fix this. I know there is Manuel mode. But I'm just wondering if the auto can be set better. Thanks

When did we cross the line and accept that brand new products will have problems, and will have a series of firmware updates to fix them. Its like buying a car and expecting 3-4 recalls in the first couple of months. Maybe they need to just sell hardware and put all the firmware variable's in the app, we do all the testing anyway,, why not let us write the firmware. OK, rant over, lol

q4 short thats a good question, Im sure they are doing some kind of crop, because it zooms less in 4k than in 1080 p... so that means its a Crop, havent tested its probably similar if you do it in editing program

You are 100 percent right, there is No use.. but its sometimes nice to reframe a shot slighly, lets say you on 20mm and you want to go to 28 mm with a slight zoom

Well at least with pocket 1 you could leave the filters on when turning off but the pocket 2 you have to remove the filters before turning off. DJI might have gotten rid of the name OSMO but if you look at the front it has the word OSMO on it. Now that I got it, it doesn't impress me much. Could have put the power button somewhere else! Zoom not that impressive but ok as that's why I got it! Forget to take a filter off and it may end up lost. Impress that I don't have to use a filter as much but that could be the light from location of sun. People complained about taking it out of the case and I have no problems.

Hey David.. Thanks for your comment, its interesting, i guess with a product like this its never going to satisfy everyone.. It depends what you need it for i guess, it's very good in some ways.. Night shooting you need to adjust manually to get it too look good.. There is no other camera in this size that has a sensor like that besides the insta 360 one r.. Which is bigger.. But i get your point.. They will fix this as they go..also the zoom is a gimmick.. You need a zoom lens like the nikon p1000 if you want a zoom lens.. As i said, all depends on needs.. Question. a lot of forums and posts are complaining the DJI Mimo App registration process to "activate" the Pocket 2. Can you tell me what information DJI wants in its registration to activate the device? name? phone number? blood type? what? thanks. I'm on the fence on the device and besides its positives and negatives, am most curious what data DJI is mining from us. thnx

Lololol great comment.. From what i see there its like a username password.. I think email.. And country.. I had the dji mimo app for 2 years now.. Never noticed any issues ... But who knows what they do.. I guess dji need to be ethical with the data.. But i dunno for sure

@@HowToGuyChannel and it "activates" the device how? phone is attached, so that way, app communicates with device thru phone. okay. you have to enter user name password everytime you use Mimo App, and once registered, the App tells the device to work all the time, right?

@@martysender5539 Hey marty, who knows.. You don't need to turn the app on at all.. Only the first time, and to get future firmware updates.. And you need it if you want to control it remotely.. Meaning you turn on wifi and Bluetooth.. Then open dji mimo app.. Then it pops up on your phone screen in dji mimo app that it finds your camera.. Then it connects to the camera remotely.. You can do that via wifi or plugged in.. But you don't need the app at all.. Only first time to activate.. And i know you hate that about it.. Ha 😂😂😁

I should have mentioned my setting.. I manually set the first parts.. The last videos of the art was all set to auto

@@HowToGuyChannel i dunno why but when i had my osmo I never got as good image as you get even during the day hmmmm im starting to think maybe my osmo was defective it was always grainy and distorted to zoom in would be impossible due to the quality hmmm

Pocket 1 struggles with contast.. The auto focus was a little weird.. I think the new one exposes for the face much better.. That's one thing they fixed.. Sometimes pocket 1 well focus to infinity and pickup a cloud or tree in back.. And not you face

Hey WildBeret, I guess you dont know.. but I would think if you order from DJI store directly, it would be the newest, mostly they will be fixing the issues in firmware in the next few weeks and months anyway.

I dont think that will work, unless it has a 3.5mm output, I havent tested that particular mic though.. not sure about its features, if its only USB.. it wont work (90 percent sure), unless there was some adapter

@@HowToGuyChannel Yeah It's C type USB mic and comes with 3.5 mm jack to connect headphones. I m using this mic with my android phone and Canon 1500D using adaptor cable. Was thinking about all in one compact solution (like DJI Pocket 2) which I can use for outdoor cinematic cover videos without mic and indoor videos with this Rode USB mic. www.rode.com/microphones/usb/nt-usb-mini

I like it Ceci, its not perfect, but Osmo 1 was not perfect at first, you could always wait a few weeks for some firmware updates, I will be doing more videos with the camera.. I like how it looks

20mm looks fine, ultra wide angle is not worth it unless you love the gopro look.

Chris I totally agree with you there.. I think 20mm - 24 is perfect.. I like the 15mm if you need it to do maybe a larger push in on a building, that is where it would be useful

Hey Bob.. like I said, its not perfect, but its pretty small, most people dont notice it when you filming, and the video is not bad, and for vlogs, works perfect

04.16 and 04.30, Pocket 2 + Free well wide lens actually didnt performed as good as Pocket 2+ Original Wide lens ,the red brick behind of you looks really weird.

Freewell lens does not not look as good as pocket ones.. With ultra wide.. I don't notice any color cast or much noise.. Its pretty darn clear using the default one on the combo

@@HowToGuyChannel I decided to go for graphic display tablet with the money I was supposed to buy DJI pocket 2 because I still think the battery lets me down , hopefully in the next version . They will bring a more advanced productive version with waterproof protection . In the meantime , I am now starting to save up for osmo pocket 3 lol I think it will be around 400-500usd

I'm a little worried about it though since it seems like GoProHero9 is still getting better marks obviously but I liked the modularity option of the Insta as well as the 360. If I have money to burn maybe I'll still get the GoPro.

DJI has really taken it's user base for a trip to nowhere this year at the consumers expense. I am glad I bailed on the DJI Product Lifecycle. There is no innovation in this release of the Pocket 2. In some ways it seems a step back. It appears to me, one is better off with their phone and the Osmo Mobile (x) if comparing the quality of footage like for like to these micro cameras DJI vomits out. I like your Sony footage better.

Hey Roman, thanks for this comments, You not wrong, maybe a little harsh, its not such a bad camera.. but you are entitled to your thoughts, and I agree with much of what you say, the Sony does look good, but remember thats a big sensor, big lens, so the pocket doesnt do a bad job in comparison... but Yes, DJI should have given that 1 inch sensor.

In ONLY 30fps they both look horrible & ESPECIALLY on KZfaq….I find the sharpest videos are always shot in 60fps whether it’s 4k or 1080p.
