Click to Subscribe! ► bit.ly/JOovvU - What a great day for an Unboxing video! I finally have a mini-monster truck, too cool. I figured if I was going to unbox it, we better get it outside. I wish that we had better tires, as it is very sandy mixed with clay where I live. The wind made for very difficult filming conditions, but I still wanted to launch this little truck. As soon as I did, I thought we had some damage - but the film will tell more.
A lot of people ask me questions about the RC's I use in my videos - so I copy and pasted some info from the manufacturers website to help save you some time.

glad to see this truck getting some love. i have the previous version and i swapped to the proline big joes. they look great and grip well. and this battery door can still open. also with some trimming to the battery door i can fit a 5000mah 3s in it. also puttiong some kind of foam overtop of the rear shocks will help stop them from punching through the body.

Haha! It didn't even last one day. The superman ramp claims yet another victim. It would be really cool if you built another launch ramp half as tall so the trucks would kick out instead of just up. That little ramp is almost a vert quarter pipe. Looks like it would be a fun ramp on a board(just needs some coping). Enjoyed the video and sweet little truck too. Going to be lots of fun to watch you bash with it.

It's good to see that HPI have dropped the old Vapour ESC, they tended to last a few runs before killing themselves. I'd definitely recommend getting the full T-Bone Racing kit to add a bit of extra protection for the front/rear/under sides. Also, the original servo was definitely weak, looks like they might have fixed that too. The rod-ends are also a huge weak point. Replace them with Traxxas turnbuckles or you'll be doing the walk of shame far too often. Replace the tyres with the HPI Ground Assaults, you won't regret it.

I had a XS, previous model with the black cab. Though little truck... Only real problem with it is the stock bearings that are not sealed, but metal shielded. So a couple water/snow run and they were shot... Good news, the truck only need 2 bearing sizes. The slipper clutch can be problematic since it loosen itself from the motor torque. I had drilled the slipper and installed drive pins to make it 100% locked. You will also twist a lot of rear driveshaft from the massive power the truck has! For the rest, once you change the tires, the frame/suspension is pretty though... only broke a rear table like on the video. With a real good battery, I was doing back-flips at 70km/h on 2S! Was never able to gauge the top speed!

+Johnny Just for information, the 4000kv motor is a rebadged Castle 3800kv with lower quality lamination on the rotor. About the same power, a little more heat, little cheaper.

@RCSparks Studio™ I have 2 of these. One for my son and one for me. I got 2.2 Proline badlands on his and 2.2 Proline Mashers for mine because I couldn't decide which way to go. Turns out that mine looks cooler but his gets better traction in the dirt and especially the grass. I would go with 2.2 Proline titus beadlocks and 2.2 badlands. That combo on this truck works great! Keep RC'ing!

I have both as well, and love them. The XS is dumb on 2S, and just plain stupid on 3S. The big HP is the same on 4S and 6S respectively. And if you are looking for some different wheels and tires. Check out the stuff from Duratrax. Just get the 1/2 in offset 2.8 ST style if you do. they fit much better than the 2.8 MT. The MT style rub the suspension and body at full steering lock.
