Click to Subscribe! ► bit.ly/JOovvU - Maintenance week is continuing in my RCSparks Studio, and today i am upgrading the suspension in my HPi Savage XS Flux Mini Monster Truck 4x4. This little rig is a beast and certainly packs a punch when powered by a 3s Lipo Battery! Here's a video of it in action (with onboard shots): • RC ADVENTURES - FORD R...
The upgrade I am doing will correct any issues I have with the rod ends breaking off in future jumps, as these ones are anodized aluminum. Very tough and reinforced compared to the stock option. Also the droop and rebound rate is very good!
I also mention some common thoughts and concerns about first time users of radio control hobby gear. Learning how to maintain your RC's is just as important as running them! If you don't dig in, and learn about your RC but taking it apart and keeping it in running condition - then truly, you may not want to be in this hobby. You can't avoid it! So, don't be afraid.. just clear off a space where you can work. Get out your tools, some rags, and some cleaner. It's time to get it done !
A lot of people ask me questions about the RC's I use in my videos - so I copy and pasted some info from the manufacturers website to help save you some time.

I understand what you were saying about "The Now Generation". Recently I was browsing Amazon to see what cars they had for sale, I normally buy from my local model shop but I had been given a handful of Amazon vouchers. Anyway I was looking at some reviews of RC cars and one guy was complaining about a Tamiya Midnight Pumpkin re-release. His 1 star review said " sent it back for a refund. I want to race it, NOT build it"... I died a little inside. Some of the young ones these days want everything now. It's such a shame that they will never understand the reward of completing a build or the personal connection you get with your cars when you have created them from a a few plastic bags of parts.

Wow, the kid must not even be able to read, all the Tamiya kits I've seen on there clearly state they are a kit and require self assembly. I would rather have a kit to build, it's more fun getting to out it together yourself.

I refuse to let my son be like that. we've built his savage hp(converted from nitro), erevo 1/16, sakura d4, and recently a 450 quadcopter. he's learned allot including how to solder. only 6 years and He knows the great feeling of completing a build

1 thing, among many that I like about your videos is you never forget the new people that don't know as much. So many I see assume everybody knows all the terms used when we don't. good work.

I always love watching you tear into these suckers! Although some people may think this is boring, the engineering part of me is amazed at the way this vehicle is designed and put together. I remember when I got my first rc which was the hpi wheely King. I tore that crappy rc up. I then I tried to fix it and didn't know what the heck I was doing. Being only 12 at the time, I didn't have the money to replace the cheap plastic parts. However, these videos and these rc vehicles inspired me to get into the engineering and robotics program at my high school. I just wanted to thank you for giving us viewers amazing content!

I'm so glad you uploaded this video. I have been, for the longest time, very intimidated by the thought of assembling and disassembling an RC vehicle. After some training on 1:1 scale vehicles, and seeing the suspension thumbnail on your video in my subscriptions, I decided to take a look. It doesn't appear to be so bad after all. Thanks for re-igniting my interest in RC vehicles and keep up the good work!

It did look daunting at 1st when I took apart my rc’s but I’ll be honest, I’m glad I did cause I got to know how it all works and not only that, it shows that I could put it together again. If there’s something wrong with your rc’s, you shouldn’t be afraid/worried about taking it apart, it’s part of the hobby and in someway, kinda relaxing if you got the parts you need and know what your doing.

You are completely right about building a relationship with your rc's, I've got a slash 2wd that I have taken apart and put back together multiple times and can actually say that when something is wrong I can almost always tell by the sound right where the issue is, also have an E10 (trueno version) but it hasn't been on the road in over a year.. Fried the motor and haven't had the money to fix it

Nice video, really like the moral support given to people starting out with stripping and maintaining. 2 questions: 1. Isn't there a risk with aluminium parts compared to plastic that alu can transfer the forces to more expensive / crucial parts? 2. What is the advantage in terms of travel of these shocks / springs?
