It could be that a soul is generated by the electrical patterns that take place in the brain in a certain order, explaining how mechanical entities could generate their own souls with the electric current running through their circuits. It could also be that the electrical activity of the minds of blanks creates an electromagnetic field that is opposite or asymmetrical to a "regular" soul, explaining the discord and nullification that blanks have.

I’ve actually been trying to write a story involving Trazyn having to release the beings in his collection in order to defend it from an invasion, and the Fulgrim clone would effectively take command of the escaped prisoners and unite the Astartes that were released into his own Legion which uses pilfered Necron technology as part of their arsenal. I wanted to call it the Legion of the Damned since following the traitor Fulgrim effectively meant they betrayed the Imperium, but I don’t wanna get sued over copyright issues or something.

Regarding Fulgrim, it's possible that the clone actually possesses the true soul of the Phoenician. Yes, "Fulgrim" said that he had managed to regain control over his body and continued the Heresy without being possessed, but we all know how Daemons can sometimes adopt the persona of those they possess and all of them except perhaps Khornates lie. Therefore, it is still a likely theory that the soul within the painting was still Fulgrim. Once the clone was created, an open and perfect vessel with an intense connection to the true soul of Fulgrim became available. Thus, the painting became empty and Fulgrim inhabited his cloned body.

I've spoken to William King about this specific question in regards to the Drukhari, since they focus on cloning (specifically the casket born), we can also look at what we learned from the two Drukhari clones in Angel Exterminatus, Perturabo and others sensed that something was missing within them. So going by the information we currently have we can easily determine that if they likely posses inferior or artificial souls in comparison to those born naturally. We can also clearly see that the Clone of Horus only had his memories not his power or soul.

I believe that clones have souls of their own, but, they are mere copies of the originals, and lack the same "consistency". Basically, it's like the difference between an oil painting and a print of a downloaded image of said painting: from a distance they look alike, but while one is a complex, layered artwork, the other is a flat, simpler version of it. This is because, I think, souls gain power from experience, and these clones have little to no experience of life, in opposition to the originals' thousands of years. Fabius Bile does not count, as he simply transfers his conscience from a clone to another.
@SmokerX91
@SmokerX91 4 жыл бұрын
Solid argument up until the "Bile doesn't count". Of course he counts, he does not actually transfer his consciousness, for all we know he just copies his brain onto a wraithbone spike and uploads it to other bodies. Aside from that, Fulgrim's clones had all of Fulgrim's memories. So if Bile has a soul because he transfers his personality and experiences, why would Fulgrim not have one if he has the same personality and experiences?

Well I think we need to make a distiction between soul and memory. The souls is a presence felt in the Warp its connection to it so it unique per individual/clone, memories could be transmitted geneticaly through DNA (Similar to Assassin's Creed) So in a way each clone has its own distinct soul, but the same memories of the individual whose DNA was used to create the clone. Also depends when the genetic matterial was first taken.

@@heathenpride7931 Souls mean everything in this setting. Would the chaos gods not have figured out to manufacture false souls and create an infinite number of Horus level troopers to crush their enemies? Thus, unless the chaos gods, all four of them haven't figured out that clones have souls, why would they wait and have such limited number of Chaos Space Marines, Dark Eldar, and whatever chaos cultists where they could just get Fabius Bile to mass create disposable, obedient, warmaster level troopers and absorb their tasty clone souls afterwards?

The Greatest Rogue Trader Okay first off, when did I say souls weren’t important? Secondly, the whole idea that each clone has their own unique soul isn’t disproven by what you just said. Under this theory of mine Creating a clone, soul wise, wouldn’t be copying it would be making a new soul.
@Ranmus
@Ranmus 4 жыл бұрын
@@heathenpride7931 No evidence that each copy has a fresh new soul either. Also settle down, wasn't accusing you of being wrong or anything. You would think that the few who could notice souls being created (The Emperor, The Chaos Gods, possibly the Eldar) Would they not try to exploit, prevent, or even use this knowledge to further their own ends? For example, if The Emperor knew that cloning gives new souls to these clones and that creating what amounted to disposable soldiers, would he had given Corvus Corax the permission to clone new soldiers? He detested the Chaos Gods, why would he feed them with a theoretical infinite food source? Why wouldn't the Chaos Gods not sustain themselves with cloned souls if each clone made a new unique soul? They already swayed a geneticist to make clones, so why not do that en masse? The Eldar complain that they are few in number. If clones gave new souls, why not just make new brethren and alter them a bit to be completely unique and overrun the galaxy?

Y'know, if @7:23 is true, where the Emperor could destroy a person's soul, and Daemons are reflections or "shards" of the Chaos Gods, who are manifestations of soul-species' thoughts and feelings, then perhaps this is part of the reason they wanted to bring the Emperor down so badly. Please do a video on "souls" in general! It's stated constantly that souls get "ripped to pieces" by demons in 40k, but there are many, many sources in the lore that imply that souls live on. Eg. The Emperor implied he can resurrect Ferrus Manus "when he has time," the Perpetuals, a Sister of Silence "trades" her soul (even though some say they don't have souls) to warn her Sisters about Horus, Magnus' soul is shattered, Sanguinius' DEATH caused the Black Rage, not his soul getting obliterated, some Space Marines have visions of travelling a good afterlife when they die etc etc etc.

The Horus clone seemed kind've messed up mentally to me. I imagined that was because Horus' true soul was destroyed. I sort've expected all cloned primarchs to come out the same way, since they don't have the custom-made super-souls that the Emperor created. The Ferrus Manus clones came out fine because Ferrus' soul was still intact and in Fulgrim's possession (since he's the one who killed Ferrus, it makes sense that he or Slaanesh had captured Ferrus' soul), so each Ferrus clone could have Ferrus' soul placed in it. But that theory is kind've torpedoed by the idea of a functional Fulgrim clone - I hadn't heard about that until this video.

I have Multiple Questions to Remleiz: 1.)If Bile can and have cloned primarchs multiple times with success, then would he able to produce something even better than Primaris, as he has the whole Primarch organs? 2.)Is there any indication for Bile to create and army of cloned primarchs to be used against the Imperium, has even Abbadon tried using so called cloned primarch army? 3.) You talked about the souls and about the blanks/pariahs; Are they clonable? If so then wouldn't they be easier to clone and be used as they dont need the complexity of the souls and the duplication or mirror souls that may break a clone. 4.) Also why wouldnt the Imperium clone the God Emperor or make an army of cloned God Emperor to finally stop Choas? As only the God Emperor is the only uncorruptible from Choas? these were the ideas and questions that run through my head while watching this interesting video. We appreciate your uploads! keep it up Brother!

Consider the following: A soul, in 40k, can be divided into shards and even fused (See Magnus). What if "cloning" is literally just grafting a physical link to a soul (ether whole or shard)? Alpharius and Omegon were Twins, but it wad mentionned that they "Shared one soul"... It wouldn't be so out of place to consider that clones do a similar thing.

It seems that the clones may generate their own souls, but it is possible that if the new soul is indeed so identical to the existing/previous one that something akin to quantum entanglement could occur. This might allow for the access of feelings and memories of the previous version of the soul. Due to the atemporal nature of the warp, this "sync" could still happen if the prime soul had already perished. Even if a soul were claimed or corrupted by chaos, the connection could be made back through the soul's timeline to a point where the soul templates matched.

Seems to me that primarchs are indeed more of a warp entity( a sort of greater deamon/deamon prince). Only they are grafted unto a genetic template, so they become a sort of self sustaining warp entity( like the emp himself, that does make them kind of his sons although they were made in a lab.). prob the reason why those warp parasites called the chaos gods fear/hate the emperor and the primarchs so much. The emp achieved a mastery of the warp those parasites prob never will. I allso doubt that the emp bargained with those parasites, he prob fought them in the warp to claim a part of the warp for himself, so he could use it to create his own warp entities(primarchs) and to try to destroy them maybe. Like the "chaos gods" do in the great game, they fight each other all the time. So the emp fighting in the great game could be seen as gift to them , at least to the more fight oriented warp parasites. And the warp does not have an objective truth, so maybe there are several truths.

could be that primarchs store a back up of their memories in their dna, possibly having a special organelle for that purpose, just in case they lose a lobe or two of their brain and have to grow it back.

My fanon for why geneseed needs to ‘mature’ is that it requires time to copy the genetic memories related to beating the second heart, responding to the high-speed neurons, and etc. When it is implanted, these genetic memories essentially program the host brain cells to reproduce the information. This would also explain why Astartes forget most of their previous lives.

While it is admittedly unlikely for a primarch to meet their clone, there is theoretically a way to allow this to occur. Near the end of the video you mentioned how the clone of Fulgrim is currently in the custody of Trazyn. If this clone were to theoretically somehow escape, he could conceivably wind up being drawn to the Eye and meeting his template. However the probability of this actually occurring would depend on the answer to the question: just how secure is Trazyns collection? My guess is not very, considering a simple, albeit Warp-augmented, bell was able to reduce a good chunk of it to rubble and chaos(pun intended).

Oooohhh... You may wish to look at Deathwatch, Shadow Breaker. There is a exorcists who has his soul put into a baby clone version of him self and the baby is kept in stasis. It is said that his current body is all but invisible to the creatures of the warp... It's worth a think.

That’ll probably be due to the initiation ritual of the exorcists where they undergo daemonic possession and exorcism to render their souls invisible to warp predators

I'm not sure that we can necessarily say that primarch clones are typical of all clones, who knows what kind of magical bullshit is incorperated into the primarchs geneome. There was a guard regiment that was formed from cloned imperal heros and that had no mention of any kept memories, just bad luck.

I like to think of souls in 40K (and how the Old Ones worked.. and how the Dark Eldar flesh crafters work) is that you have raw warp power and if you will there are patterns. Those patterns shape the warp energy into a soul.. shaped and stamped by the template used. A "soul template". I remember there was a book that discussed the stamping of a pattern onto the warp energy that then would create a soul of a particular pattern. If you will.. the Dark Eldar are "copies" and not necessarily the originals... or rather there were rules about resurrection in the dark eldar that after a certain time the soul being in the hands of Slannesh would result in pulling in a demon. But that doesn't always seem true as they do seem in a few cases to regain the soul.. but.. is it the first? Or is it raw warp energy crafted to a template as the Old Ones could do.

You have to consider one thing about clones we always over look. The thing about clones is, they are not the carbon copies we tend to treat them as. Immediately after their conception they are identical copies. But by the time they are a full infant, enough cells have deviated from the original they would be better considered more like identical twins. by the time they reach adult hood they are more like brothers/sisters than anything. so in actuality they are their own separate being. it stands to reason that their soul would be as well. also, its entirely possible that Big E used his psychic powers to alter the souls developing in the Primarchs in a way Bile could not. Its worth noting that the clone of Horus and Fulgrim were on a Crone world and that the Horus clone had a significantly shorter exposure to said world when he fought Abbadon the Plot Armored. the time on such a psychically active place for the Fulgrim clone maybe what it needed to enhance it's soul the way the Emperor did.

This might read like a rambled mess of confused jargon but stick with me on this: Daemon Engines are a thing and so is cloning, souls also are a thing and exist in the warp. If a daemon could be bound to powerful war machines by twisted Warpsmiths then soul can be bound to flesh. Lets say you have recovered a well preserved and viable genetic sample of a long dead hero and want to bring the being back to life, you have the equipment and resources to accomplish the task. You have a developing clone in an incubation chamber and have also recovered the soul of the certain hero from the warp. I guess it would also be possible to find a way to fuse the soul with the fetus to bring the being back to life in a new body. You would wind up with a clone with the memories, personality traits and abilities of the original.

Here's a question, as the Primarchs are not purely physical beings, as we see Corax appeares to have worked out! Is it possible a perfect clone of one is not a perfect replica of the full being but only the physical half. So they would be what the primarches would have been had the emperor never gone through the gate on Molech?
@RocketHarry865
@RocketHarry865 4 жыл бұрын
I wonder if the 'perfect' clone Fulgrim actually contains a part of Orignal Fulgrim soul that represent the good personality aspects of Fulgrim that was left behind when Fulgrim escape the painting that he was trapped in by the daemon in the laer blade after he killed Ferrus Manus. The Fulgrim that became a daemon prince has the negative personality aspects of Fulgrim and the clone Fulgrim has mostly the positive personality aspects.

The answer is the warp and its influence especially regarding clones of primarchs. Much like how the Emperor is sustained or on "life support" by belief so are the primarchs. So long as there is stories, memories and first hand knowledge of the primarchs their souls are alive and when there is a clone it gets transferred into it, not all at once but a little bit at the time. As more and more people become aware of that clone and believe the soul grows stronger and memories get transferred from the consciousness of the believers. But there also those that believe that some primarchs souls are gone forever and it becomes reality. There may also be conflicting beliefs then it becomes a battle of belief among the number believers. Reality influence the warp and the warp influence reality, round and round it goes.

the gene labs on Terra still have all the research and dna samples in stasis of each of the primarch's including the 2 that were deleted from imperial records the clones could be made from that dna. as the dna was from before the primarch's were sent into the warp they would be untainted by chaos

I’m very curious about these subjects. I myself I’m trying to write a story involving and knowing how somebody can imprint a true soul onto a machine or an abominable intelligence and whether that would cause the machine to be more susceptible to chaos as well as more powerfully bonded to the imprinter as a twin, rather than just having a ghost memory. If it is possible that this is or is not a psychic-based ability imprinted into humans during the dark age of technology and might be what the machine cult was originally based off of but forgot the meaning or the hard facts of. vital to the story and themes.

listener 2920 I think it would matter if something is completely synthesized and is an algorithm or somethings actually generating real emotion and therefore being fed upon or being linked into the warp with a psyche unless it’s a true null. The thing about a lot of mechanicus technology is that it relies on combining biological and mechanical parts. so even if you are tapping into some dark age technology some of the artificial intelligence might actually be from a biological are close enough to be ‘real’ It seems that physical reality even without psyche can be corrupted but you still need an origin point that tears reality usual what a strong connection to the warp such as a psychic usually organic creature. If you could have somebody with potential psychic ability imprint strongly on a machine capable of holdings imprints like a Knights armor or Titan; is that truly different enough from the technology which made true dark age AI. Actually I think I’m answering a lot of my own questions. Thanks for the response. If I can make decent enough dialogue, I might be able to enter something to a black library some day. God emperor knows I need an editor.

@Terribads
@Terribads 4 жыл бұрын
If the souls are from biological processes, then there are 2 different soul types at work; It may better fit the babylon5 explanation: a soul comes to a body and the interaction creates the spirit, an after effect like glue of the soul to the body. The emperor was the (maybe) merging of so many primordial shammies into 1 soul, which THEN was born into a body. So in theory, after birth the after-effects of the soul/body tying would be the generated the soul/spirit in the way you are referring to. Also, some idea could be imprinted on the spirit/soul that remains tied to a sample of flesh/blood, so that the gene-crazed dude could have found a decent sample from before Fulgrim ascended (like strewn all over the battlefield where Ferus Manus died) and with it a viable sliver of the soul or at least spirit (from the babylon5 style explanation).

SpaceMarine can gain memories from eating your brain, so the idea that they might have genetic memories passed down to their clones isn’t far fetched. Then look at the idea of each new baby born generates a new soul. So once again it’s not a major starch to say each clones generates a new soul.
