I was a shift for about 2 years, then I left the company for almost a year. I came back and realized how much I enjoyed the company so I will be moving up again soon! Starbucks is not a career for most people-but I thoroughly enjoy the chaotic atmosphere of it myself lol.

I just nearly finished training and its a bit stressful but very fun! Although the health insurance and free college are my main incentives, it’s pretty cool to learn so much about coffee. I’ve taken a pretty long break from school so I think all my family will be super happy to hear I’m getting my bachelors for free! When i saw your quitting starbucks video i at the time had just been hired. I really didn’t think it was a sign that i made a mistake in my decision in applying but I was shocked at how much the company was changing. I hope my time with them exceeds at least a year (im sort of a job hopper, i live in houston so most cs job wages are shit). I want to be a teacher so I don’t think my skills as a barista will be all that transferable either 😭 maybe nannying in my foreseeable future idk 🤷♀️ either way the 15 an hour is really helping ya girl out

That’s so great you are using the free collage benefit! I think getting a degree will help more then transferable skills. If you plan on staying awhile at Starbucks for the free tuition you should think about becoming a shift! Better pay and more skills. Wishing you the best 🥳

I am quitting in a couple weeks. I met my girlfriend there and made some great friendships but the job itself was awful. So much disrespect from customers and coworkers. Seems to attract drama.

How can I become better at counting change, Dave what were some tips as a cash register that started at Starbucks.

At my store not a lot of people paid with cash. It was mostly credit card or they used their Starbucks mobile app. I think with practice you will get better! Just take your time and the speed will come. If you get nervous about how long you are taking counting the change it will distract you and slow you down. The speed will come with time! You can also practice at home (kinda lame Ik) but set out some coins and have a random number calculator going and whatever number pops up give that amount in change! Best of luck 🥳
