Do SSRIs impact lucid dreaming? Can it be more difficult to lucid dream on antidepressants, or could it even be easier? Today I'll be sharing my one month update since I've been prescribed Escitalopram and how it's been affecting my dreams. For this entire month I've held off on using any techniques, even meditation and dream journaling have been stopped temporarily, but it's actually still been an interesting month for lucid dreaming.
Sorry that I wasn't on camera in this video, I know some of you prefer that, but as I explain in the video I have been DEAD since about week 3 of the medication and wanted to ensure I still got a video out. Hopefully regular videos will resume shortly 🤞 as in the last few days since I recorded this I've started to feel a little better.

Really appreciate this topic, and glad you're doing all right - I definitely had a couple rough weeks while the initial side effects wore off. My dreams definitely got quite a lot more frequent and more vivid after starting an SSRI also - super interesting. (My dose is in the morning.)

No need to apologize. A few years I had to half my dosage of one of my anxiety meds because I was feeling like a Resident Evil zombie throughout the day. It may take awhile for you to find medications that works for you. I hope you feel better. 🥰🥰

Hey man. Have watched your channel for a long time but have never commented, but I want to explain my experience with SSRIs, and took the same one you did, max dosage, for almost a year. I really, really think you should look into other options before continuing your SSRIs. I’m sure you’ve done your research, but SSRIs are one of the least effective anti-depressants relative to things like running, hobbies, etc. And again, I’m sure you’ve looked into it- but I just felt obligated to comment. Don’t take them for more than 8 months, they’re best used as a quick crutch while in transition phases, but be careful with using them for long periods of time. Stay safe brother.

Thanks for your comment. Yeah. Unless something miraculously changes in the next few days I'm planning to speak to my psychiatrist about discontinuing this coming week, because unfortunately my experience so far has been pretty miserable. Energy levels have been absolute 0 hence the lack of videos recently, and I've only experienced minimal antidepressant and anxiolytic effects, certainly nothing worth the negatives I've experienced. I don't think I'll try another SSRI after this but will enquire about other options. My options may be limited since I'm in Poland and I believe there's less available over here than in the US etc, but hopefully I'll be able to find something that's a better fit. It's actually somewhat of a shame on the lucid dreaming side of things though because I've found that on the SSRI the lucid dreams are so consistent that I've almost completely abandoned techniques. However I'd rather just go back to using all my techniques than continue to suffer with zero energy and ability to function.

@@Tipharot That’s a great perspective and I’m glad you’re taking your health seriously while also trying to maintain doing what you love. focusing on your mental health is difficult for a lot of men and any work that you put into it is worth it. I take Bupropion/ Welbutrin now because it also helps with my ADHD, so that may be an option for you and had much more limited side effects. If you’re curious In terms of other potential holistic solutions for your health, diet cannot be overstated in its importance. Sexual transmutation/ semen retention is also a very interesting one that massively boosted my energy levels as well as boosting testosterone and DHT. I would also look into using your advanced lucid dreaming skills to try “Active Imagination” for psychological development (integrating the unconscious with the conscious to become better aware of the self). good luck to you on your journey,!

It's called Balatro, it's a poker themed roguelike, just tried it out for the first time last week after I watched Northernlion play it. It's been helping keep me sane while I've been having trouble with this SSRI. 10/10 would recommend.
