We introduce the Law of Reflections. Specular reflection keeps all the rays in nice, pretty order, and can only happen when the surface is incredibly smooth on a microscopic level. Diffuse reflection is overwhelmingly more common.

Thank you! I'm really setting up everything so you have a complete picture of optics. We will be considering objects at infinity (parallel incoming rays) and images at infinity (parallel outgoing rays) in many of my subsequent optics videos, so I note it here.

so math for specular and diffuse is the same? someone gave me this line of math and said it was for reflection (though it doesn't really look like yours and i can't tell which type of reflection it's used for): v1 * o1 = v2 * o1 v=vector, o=theta (degrees)

04:45 What is the point of this statement? As spherical rays gets farther and farther away - spherical rays acts like parallel, yes? I don't understand why this statement has been said in this lesson. Or I should just keep with that and say: Um, okay. Great videos comes with you, as always.
