why did you make the concave and convex surfaces straight ?
@DocSchuster8 жыл бұрын
+Jayaram Prabhu Durairaj Check an earlier video on optics. It's in there.

The vertical plane going through the apex makes it easier to calculate things...for simpler math. It is not actually a straight surface in real life. That means that answers you get from calculating things based on the diagram are a good estimation...but are not 100 percent accurate.

Pretty sure this is path tracing and not ray tracing.
@DocSchuster8 жыл бұрын
+bahjat murrad tracing the paths of rays?
@bahjat19938 жыл бұрын
I'm just saying ray tracing is a different technique to path tracing what you are doing here. The title just misled me, i was expecting you to talk about ray tracing in detail which is used in computer graphics.
@DocSchuster8 жыл бұрын
+bahjat murrad Aha! In the USA, we call this ray tracing, and it's had that name since well before computers came to the party. I see your concern, though.
@bahjat19938 жыл бұрын
I mean you no disrespect, the video is very well put together and is very useful (even for ray tracing technique). Thought i should let you know that this technique shares it's name with something we study at graduate level :p.
