I really enjoyed Doctor Sleep. I liked the good versus evil, the young actress was great, the villains were fleshed out, the message about death was beautiful, the fan service was good. If you haven’t already, go see it!!!!!

I mean it's called doctor sleep, not shining 2. That's why it's not the same. The girl's shine is that crazy in the book which I feel you haven't read or you would know that. But I thought this movie did excellent since it was trying to adapt the book while maintaining continuity with the first movie that heavy deviated from its source material.

I really liked the ending-it was true to the shining novel and for the most part it felt earned I would probably give the movie 7.8/10-Personally,I didnt like the tone at times, but still at the end of the day I did care about the characters and found the villains to be pretty intriguing. It didnt hold a candle to The Shining, but I think its really unfair to compare the two......I mean that movie is in a league of its own and people to this very day are sharing their theories or analytical thoughts on it...I mean-its Kubrick! Thus, personally I find it unreasonable to expect this movie to be as intense or generally as well directed as the Shining On top of all, they also had to stick somewhat true to Stephen Kings source material... Finding that balance must have been a pretty challenging task

The disclaimer at the beginning of the movie “based on the novel by Stephen King “ should read “very loosely based on the novel by Stephen King”. So much was left out of the movie-most importantly the relationship between Abra and Dan as in the book we learn that Jack Torrance had a fling with a grad student who turns out to be Abra’s grandmother, making Dan Torrance Abra’s half uncle. As a sequel to the film it was ok, but it was not Doctor Sleep.

Look you can’t expect to adapt every thing and as an adaptation it is very accurate to the book and a specialy the 3 hour cut and about the relationship of abra and danny we see that they have been talking for a long time and we get little hints and ester eggs about stuff they couldn’t adapt and don’t say it id not doctor sleep cuz this is even more doctor sleep then the book and it updates and inproves on the book on my opinion so pls don’t judge movie adaption like this because you aren’t going to enjoy most of them

I really enjoyed this and will buy it. I walked out of It Chapter Two disappointed; this one I wanted to see again. The ending; you can really pick up the King Shining especially if you suffered through his awful miniseries. Rose the Hat was great and so was Abra.

I'm not happy with the book adaptation. They changed A LOT. I know stuff gets condensed sometimes, but they changed character motivations and their fates. I think you are referring to the gun battle in the movie. The True Knot explicitly says they do not carry firearms. One of the ways they have stayed around so long is that they try to keep appearances to not draw any attention to themselves. They drive their campers at the speed limit and have all legal papers ready for any law enforcement.

Most elements from The Shining (1980) were recreated with duplicate sets and lookalike actors, though three shots were reused: the aerial shot of the water and the island and the two shots after it of the car driving on the mountain road. The shots were degrained, recolored as day-for-night, and had snow digitally added. When writing Doctor Sleep, Stephen King had to be reminded of things from The Shining he'd forgotten. Although most of his stories exist in a shared universe (The Shining's Dick Hallorann appears briefly in IT, for example) it's one of only a few sequels he has written.

I've read both The Shining and Dr. Sleep and the flow between the two is pitch perfect so I am looking forward to this weekend when I see the film. Flannigaan had the daunting task of making this sequel fit as one to the movie and the book since The Shining was so different than the book.

Digital de-ageing would have ruined it. The bar tender was Lloyd not Jack and it was implied that Danny used the Shining to remove the real image of his father from his mothers and his memories.

I would give it 7 stars out of ten the vampirish feeding off of those with the shining was confusing and over the top but entertaining. Fairly good acting and character development but I noticed several holes in the plot. To mention several one was the bathroom door Jack Nicholson busted with the axe had several panals missing and when the girls Father was murdered where was the police or homicide detectives at. They would have lots of explaining demanded and many people detained.

I definitely liked Doctor Sleep. Found the end a bit clunky though, I was invested enough in the story they were telling to stop comparing it to the shining and I felt the story was really getting interesting then they SLAM on the brakes in the final act for an extended fan service when they return to the hotel. As a big fan of the shining I enjoyed this but I still felt like it screwed with the pacing. Still though the hotel scenes were well done and the final set piece was really outstanding so it never lost me, just felt like it went from a 9/10 to a 7.5/10
