Victoria chooses to stay behind in the 1960s rather than continue on with the Doctor and Jamie. From episode 6 of "Fury From the Deep."
This is a reconstruction, as nearly all footage from this serial has been lost (I'm not sure who created this recon, but any information would be appreciated). And yes, this is another situation where I edited out a scene in between the two main clips that was irrelevant to Victoria's farewel.

The worst of it all might be that he no longer remembers her. The Time Lords wiped his memory, and he can only remember his first adventure with the Doctor. And Victoria wasn't there. She'll remember him, but he'll forget all about her and there's not much hope that they'll ever see each other again.

They did that with the special edition series, stories like The Aztecs, Inferno, The Five Doctors, and a few other were released more than once. Also fans bought the original VHS tapes, then brought the DVD's of the same episodes over again! I think fans will buy the stories over again to have both the animated version and the original in their collections. Also you're assuming the all the missing episodes will be found, if they aren't, the animated stories will be the only way we will ever get to see these stories. Look at the success of the Power Of The Daleks animated DVD, I think there is a market out there for these stories!

I think the real reason why she left was that Deborah Watling found her character to be patronized and also her stories were always on Earth. The only different planet she went to was Telos in the tomb of the Cybermen. All of her stories were on Earth. Also, Victoria was a very scared character.
@ladyfoxwf1075

Well it made sense she was always scared. She was brought up in a sheltered Victorian ubringing, her parents die by aliends (Dalek's), and then she is whisked away with The Doctor who takes her to places of the future with technology, and scary aliens. And she's only 14/15 years old.

Victoria's parents must've had friends before she got kidnapped the Daleks to make her father lure the Doctor & Jamie into a trap. Powerful very emotional - thanks for posting as I'd never seen (nor heard!) Victoria's goodbye scenes. & for the post below, actually in "The Two Doctors" it would have been perfect to set the time here but they messed it up IMO saying Victoria was away studying "graphology" and even worse, making it so the Doctor and Jamie are oenly discussing the Time Lords - before the War Games! Very sloppy continuity for The 2 Docs - and it has given birth to many theories to explain it -S6B for ex

Damn. This is a poignant scene to say the least. And the first (and probably last!) time i've seen it. Jamie seems utterly heartbroken & in despair, as he realises there is nothing he can do or say to make his crush stay with them. And the Doctor was not ready to make the first move in raising his suspicions; allowing her the freedom to admit her needs of a fixed time, a home & an identity. The part which really makes this hurt though is without a doubt the fact that she had to wrestle with herself for a sleepless night to tear herself away from her Father figure she found in the Dr & Jamie who she knew had feelings for her from the start. The bit that really dug the blade deep though was how she was concerned that they might "leave in the night without saying goodbye" - treating her like the many a inconsequential passerby from their travels, as a result of her fearing she's offended them in some way. Lastly, in one of my many books, there was an admission that Deborah Wattling & many of the cast & crew cried themselves to sleep after the final shoot that night. Because for them, they were very accustomed to each other & grew fond of her. Sadder still is how the BBC burnt this story thinking it was not worth a re-watch. Sad indeed.

The reason so many Patrick Troughton stories in particular are missing is because the BBC had a lot of trouble selling them abroad. When he took over the role, it was decided to make his first story a Dalek one to ensure maximum attention. By the late 60s, Dalek creator Terry Nation was trying to sell the Daleks to US TV stations as a stand alone series. To make them a more attractive proposition, he withdrew permission from the BBC for their use. This had the knock on effect that overseas broadcasters were reluctant to buy Troughton's series as there was no introductory story for him. There was also increasing criticism from viewers at home that there were too many repeats, especially of black and white shows when colour TV became more popular. Therefore there was no money to be made from the shows and there was no idea of them being of cultural interest, they were dumped.

+Qasim Yusuf I believe it went by seasons. Almost all of the missing episodes come from seasons 3, 4, and 5. What does exist, like the Krotons, were from seasons 1, 2, and 6. They were merciful in some respects, then ruthless in others. We lost Troughton's opening story, but imagine a world where we lost Hartnell's.

+manzilla48 They wiped ALL the tapes and began junking the film copies they had left and received from overseas stations because the copyright of the actors have end and subsequently just junking them too! The problem with Fury from the Deep is that very few broadcasters around the world screened the story and that means fewer copies were made and makes it have less chance to find the odd episode here or there. This is the very, very basic version! I've learnt A LOT about the missing episodes saga so if you have any questions just PM me! Cheers mate. We need more people getting involved in learning about them and spreading the word about them to increase the chances of finding them! :)

A clear companion who was going to return was Jamie but Frazer Hines was unavailable, Deborah Watling was working for a TV show in 1972/3, it was that'll be the day. I think they could've got Wendy Padbury but she was doing Freewheelers- So all three Troughton companions weren't available, Maureen O'Brien found acting difficult after Doctor Who, Peter Purves was doing Blue Peter, Michael Craze did Neither the Sea Nor the Sand. All the other actors who played Hartnell's companions were busy doing something else or they were unavailable. There wouldn't be a point in bringing a Hartnell companion- Hartnell didn't appear much.

The old series still has plenty of good stories for all its campiness. That's why I find the loss of video to these early episodes to be a bit of a mixed blessing, actually, as the reconstructions--particularly those narrated by Frazer Hines--leave a lot to the imagination, which makes them better, in a way, than the originals. Not that I hope they never find the missing episodes. I certainly hope they do. But at least the audio tracks survived, so we can still enjoy these great stories.

Oh season 6B... Robert Holmes really liked to fuck with continuity, didn't he? At least, whatever little continuity Doctor Who has. I did like the end of the War Games so my head canon is that they were pulled out of time (which led them to rapidly age) and made to believe that they were still traveling together. Then the Time Lords wiped their memories of the whole Two Doctors adventure, de aged them, and sent them back to wherever they had been originally. Because Time Lords are assholes.

The second doctor stories were an absolute wreck I mean we're talking budget cuts issues with actor strikes and timing and holidays they removed episodes from serials the bbc were facing quite a crisis in the troughton era thats why my second doctor collection is short because for me there isn't much to go on I never did like 2,5,6,7 because I felt they were crap don't judge me

The Cybermen Storys were great and the follow up story with the Great Intelligence and Enemy of the World.. Classic Season 5 was such a strong one tbh

@@GLBizzie I gave 5th,6th,7th doctor eras another chance and here's my opinions from best to worst: 1# 5th doctor era (Best) 2# 7th doctor era 3# 6th doctor era (worst)(Colin baker got fired as the doctor without warning or notice and that's unfair because I thought he had potential to be very good if they'd stopped arguing over scripts,actors etc
