@@doctorwhomemories8939 Whenever I have rewatched Series 1 now and think on that exchange, I have come to the conclusion that maybe the Doctor was foreshadowing to how Mickey would replace Rickey in the other universe at some point but 'personal timelines' and all that so he never said how, why, or what like when he was the 8th Doctor and he just went around telling everyone little snippets about their future in the film; Or maybe he couldnt be sure, because of the parallel world thing, were the name was coming from. He could just feel it nagging at him like other sequences of events that Time Lords are supposed to be sensitive to. Just a theory.

"Dalek" was a really good episode. IMO, the best Dalek episode so far in the new series. It wasn't just a big huge war like the others. This one had heart.
@klop42286 жыл бұрын
Personally, Bad Wolf/Parting of the Ways is mine. The Daleks were properly menacing and we had Jack Harkness. Also, its almost the only episode where what's happening is a complete failure, and everyone knows it. Sure, the rest of the series had big problems to deal with - cyberman invasion, destruction of the universe, destruction of the TARDIS and time itself. But this season just had the invasion of the Game Station. And even so, it's much scarier. Everyone dies, one by one. The Doctor finds a way of stopping the Daleks, but it requires the complete genocide of the human race living on Earth. He feels it's so helpless that he sends Rose home. No other Doctor has done that in the new series. None of them. Combine that with all sorts of memorable moments, and you've got what is probably my favourite season finale from the new series.

I know it's not the focus of the video but that Rose Dalek scene made me remember how great i found most of the Davies episodes, there was a concerted effort to humanize the villains. Not in a "oh maybe they're right..." kind of way, but giving them relatable motivations and feelings e.g. Cassandra was vein, greedy and conceited and she's not a sympathetic character (until the New Earth episode anyway) but those motivations are common in many humans. Or take the Slitheen, they don't just want to destroy the world because "Mwahahaha we're evil", they're greedy and think they're blowing up a planet of "primitive apes". Say we humans found some Island in the pacific that had a thriving habitat Gorillas (which as of now are nearly extinct) on it but also sat atop the largest reserve of crude oil on the planet. Say for some reason we can't move them off the island or they'll die idk, but given the choice of killing an entire species in order to get at the oil i think we all know the major powers would do it without hesitation. Again they aren't sympathetic villains but are relatable/understandable ones. Then the Dalek episode was such a fresh and unique take on the classic villain, and completely flipped on us to where we were feeling sorry for the Dalek and sympathizing with it whilst the Doctor became consumed by hatred and became far more of a villain. I'm far from an expert in Classic Who, having watched it mainly when i was a kid, but i don't recall them ever doing those sorts of fresh takes with villains. They seemed to just be evil because. Even characters like The Master got given insight into why they are the way they are under Davies. It might be the overly light tone that makes me feel this way, but i really feel like they've pulled back from that angle after Moffat took over, everything felt more 'Disney' and like a return to Classic Who, as well as seemingly undoing much of the canon Davies established.

Glenn Bill I think 9 did the best job in conveying the war torn doctor, Tennant was the best overall had silliness and comic relief but also seriousness and conflict, mat smith did the best when conveying an old man in a young mans body and was scarily calm at times but also had that childlike innocence which perfectly suited the doctor after his regeneration and finally Capaldi was a pretty good doctor, more alien and less caring but also he seemed to convey his intelligence more than the others with his sarcastic humour so they all brought something to the role

I say nostalgic because the last time I had that feeling it was when I first saw the only good Men in Black film in existence. I simply love stories that make me question my ordinary surroundings. Transformers could have accomplished that if it wasn't a Bay film. You think that's just a ferris wheel? Nope. Silly human, It's actually a giant alien transmitter being used to control an army of plastic soldiers who are hell-bent on slaughtering every human alive if it means taking over the planet. Nine will always be my Doctor. The sassy, tragic war hero guilt-ridden by the worst, unavoidable choice he had to make to ensure the safety of the universe over his own kind. Rose, the companion who desired ambitions greater than the current world could offer her, wanted to see it all and hoped. Nine, the incarnation who was losing his will, had seen it all and regretted. Their mutual, unspoken affection for one another gave, what will always be to me, Nine the most complete arc of any Doctor.

Yes, the ninth doctor could be happy-go-lucky and funny. But he also had the Time War still fresh in his memory, with all the anger and hatred. In “Dalek”, you really see that come out. After it says “You destroyed us?!?”, the instant remorse on Christopher Eccleston’s face is just amazing.

Christopher Eccleston has such charm and was fantastic in this role (see what I did there?). It's a shame that the BBC didn't treat him like he felt he should have been treated, because I would have loved to see even just a Christmas Special with him. I hope we get a chance to see him in the role one more time, even if it's just a cameo. I would SWOON.

Russel T. Davies wrote some good stuff for Doctor Who, but he also wrote some serious crap. The farting aliens thing was up there with some of the worst writing in DW history!

I understand the hate, but to me it makes me hate the characters more. Not an issue, because they're the villains. Also, it shows how little respect they have for Earth manners and politics. Makes them stronger villains. As a side note, I assume Blon Fel Fotch fixed the issue by Boom Town, because she never farts in that one.

My first and only experience with Doctor Who was with Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor. I just loved how he acted the part and I loved his humour. I only saw his replacement briefly before CBC broadcasting the show. I no longer watch any TV.

9 was the most fun loving, at times very cross (upset) doctor, 10 was the most suave, in-control doctor, 11 was the most childish, emotinal, scary, vengeful doctor. But they were all equally loving of their companions, always did what was needed to keep them safe and always happy to see them in awe of Space and Time.

The best part about that clip from "Rose" is that it could actually happen. The London Eye is a landmark, but it becomes easy, if you pass something frequently, to just think of it as a landmark instead of all the other things it is or could be. In my city, there's a little spire on top of a building with neon lights on it, and the color of the lights changes according to the weather. For people who grew up in my city, when it was too small to be a 'city' per se, that spire is iconic. But if the Doctor were to walk up to me and say "I need a way to determine the weather from the roof of this building four block away" would I say "Look at the color of the spire"? No. Not in a million years would I think of that, because to me... it's just a landmark. The same goes for the London Eye.
