"Stooky Bill" is very real indeed & really was the first thing to EVER appear on a television by pioneer Scottish inventor John Logie Baird. As said in the dialogue, John experimented with dolls because no human could withstand the heat generated. Doctor Who is at it's best when taking something real & turning it into a plot point or in this case a sinister plot point 🥰

I’m so thankful that both Tennant and the Donna character returned. I love seeing Tennant’s Doctor, and Donna is my favorite NewWho companion. Apparently, NPH had never heard of Doctor Who before he was asked to appear in it, and wasn't sure if he could pull off the big dance number. (I think it's safe to say that he did.) Also, this is canonically the second time in a week the Doctor has been at the mercy of a villain dancing to a pop song. No wonder he looked so done in that scene.

Actually, it's rumoured to be around 24 hours to 48 hours since The Master's Rasputin dance to the Toymaker's Spice girl dance, As Doc 14 is still around his 15 hour period of regeneration (One of the theories why he bigenerated) as he was still within the 15 hour process of fully recuporating when he was forced to regenerate by The Toymaker. So The Doctor probably still had that Master dance in his head from not even a day or so ago in his POV.

There isn't really a concrete rule for the doctor's pronouns - generally I've seen people use they/them for the doctor as a whole, but the actor's pronouns if talking about a specific incarnation, but it depends per person (given the doctor's never explicitly given set pronouns in the show, it changes per incarnation)

Every time I watch this episode it CRACKS ME UP that, when they split, they clothes split between them. So Tennant got the vest, undershirt, trousers and shoes, and Gatwa got the shirt, tie socks and knickers (thank you so much whoever made THAT costuming decision!). The mental images are hilarious. The Doctor's pronouns now seem to be they/them because #13 was a woman. I also love that Ncuti Gatwa is the first black man AND openly queer actor playing The Doctor, and the first black MAIN Doctor (no I won't explain that, you'll find out). What an incredible leap of progress and great casting!

His Doctor really had one of the overall most painful/gut-wrenching regenerations (it’s always sad saying goodbye to a Doctor, but the end of his run was just… extra painful) so I’m so glad all these years later they worked it to where he finally got the peace and happy ending he’d always wanted.

Well done for finishing the 60th specials 😁 now you get to decide whether you would watch Series 1, the Ninth Doctor era, or watch the Christmas Special with the new Fifteenth Doctor 💙💙 Few fun facts: -The Doctor has had many many companions, starting with his granddaughter Susan Foreman to his best friend Donna Noble. Melanie "Mel" Bush was a companion of the late 1980s Sixth and Seventh Doctor eras. As for Amy Pond, Clara, and Bill, spoilers 🙂🙂 -The Toymaker is an enemy from the Classic series in the 1966 episode "The Celestial Toymaker". He was played by Michael Gough. He is an immortal being, which explains why NPH is the Toymaker today. -And that was regeneration, well, a form of it anyway. That is how there are so many Doctors.

There are not 'so many' Doctors. (Discounting one or two storylines) over all the decades there's only ever been one. And the same man regenerated again & again. Everybody knows that. Of course, as a time traveller, he might meet himself here & there, in the past or future, but now this bi-generation has happened, there are two Doctors, for the first time ever.

Great reaction, love how much you enjoy the show. The Doctor has had numerous companions over the years - Mel was originally in the show in the late '80s. The Toymaker was a villain not seen since the '60s - originally played by Michael Gough. NPH did a great job in this episode. The new series was created by people who watched Doctor Who as kids and loved it. They brought back or referred to many characters from the original series, as you will see.

Ok, so there’s not a lot of info on Bi-Generation because it was introduced here, but the most commonly accepted theory; which is backed up by lines like Ncuti’s Doctor, (The 15th Doctor) being the older Doctor, and 15 saying that he’s only ok because the 14th Doctor (David Tennant) takes the time to relax and help himself; is that essentially at some unspecified point in the future, the 14th Doctor is going to regenerate again, and is going to be essentially pulled back in time to this episode, and becomes the 15th Doctor If that’s too confusing of an explanation, first of all, I’m sorry, second of all, essentially the 15th Doctor is the 14th Doctor’s future, and was pulled back in time from the point that the 14th Doctor becomes the 15th. I hope either or both of those explanations make some sort of sense for a new fan, and again, I’m sorry if they don’t!

I love this special. The dance number is 🎉🎉🎉🎉wowzers🎉🎉🎉🎉 I appreciate the weird regeneration. The Doctor really needed to settle down and give themselves time to heal after everything 😢. Also they make it clear that it happened because of the Toymaker interference. So it's not a cop- out. Some other things: The Toymaker was an enemy of the First Doctor. They were supposed to confront Six, but strikes or something delayed that meeting(I can't recall if they finally met in a Big Finish or a novel). Mel was a companion to Six and Seven. She isn't the first red haired companion. That companion is Liz Shaw. A companion to Three during their time stuck on Earth working with UNIT. Now I know that for some odd reason sometimes some companions from that era aren't recognized as such. Because the Doctor couldn't use their TARDIS. I believe Liz Shaw is a companion even if she couldn't travel in the TARDIS. In any case if you want to be technical and say that only those who have travelled with the Doctor on the TARDIS are proper companions. Then. The first red haired companion is Vislor Turlough; a companion to Five.

The way I see it, it's they/them when you're talking about the Doctor as a whole, and he/him or she/her (depending) if you're talking about any one specific regeneration. For example Tennant was originally the 10th Doctor, so if you're talking about 10 specifically, or sth the Doctor did while they were 10 it'd be he/him. But if you're talking about 13 (Jodie Whittaker) it'd be she/her. Like, the whole Flux thing the Doctor referenced in the second special was something that happened to her. Edit: aaand I just saw someone else already explained that. Whelp, that's what I get for being late and not reading the other comments first haha

My theory re the Toymaker's Legions. What if his legions are the Not Things from the second special? If you can find the very first doctor episode (an unearthly child- the pilot episode) it’s worth watching to get a feel for this character. Due to copyright issues it’s hard to find streaming (it’s still on dvd I think). This show is old and somehow through the years the Doctor has always remained the same different person. It’s cool to see. The celestial toymaker is like a demigod the first Doctor battled back in the 1960s. The one thing he will honor is the rule of the game. He won’t cheat. He’s amoral and terrifying but he will abide by the rules of the game.

The new 15th Doctor Ncuti Gatawa's name is prounounced "shooty" Gatwa. It was a good episode and i love Ncuti's energy and entrance however i hated that bi-generation i would had preferred he just changed rather than have them split because i feel it did him a disservice and then fans will come up with these tired theories or rumours that David Tennant could return also it's a bit lazy writing wise in my opinion because now there's no emotion, drama or consequence i like it maybe as a one-off new concept but i hope that doesn't become an ongoing thing because the Doctor is still technically the same person i just don't like the idea that there's another Doctor and TARDIS around. Neil Patrick Harris knocked it out of the park as The Celestial Toymaker he was originally played by Michael Gough back in 1966 the character only appeared once in Doctor Who in one of the First Doctor (William Hartnell) episodes this is the characters first appearance in 57 years. Yes definately checkout the Doctor Who revival from Christopher Eccleston to Jodie Whittaker there are great episodes then once you caught up maybe start with Classic Who similar to what sesskasays is doing there are some amazing stories the special effects may not be great but it's part of the charm and the main focus is the characters and the stories. But overall great episode but not really a 60th since that felt more like a celebration of Series 4 than the show as a whole of different eras.

I think if it's a male presenting Doctor then he/him or they/them can be used. Female presenting Doctor then she/her and they/them can be used. That may change in the future if we have non-binary presenting Doctor, but basically you can use the pronouns specific to that iteration of the character.
