I've had 4 kidney stone sin my life, the largest being 9 mm and required surgery. I've also twisted my back to where it took a week to get it fixed. The kidney stones are much, much worse! I have a pretty strong pain threshold and I rate them a 9 (well, the 9 mm one was a 10). I couldn't find a comfortable way to stand, sit or lie down, nausea/vomiting uncontrollably, and had to wait for 30 minutes before they would give me painkillers (the only reason they gave me any was I couldn't lie down for the MRI scan without it). The pain was bad enough where rational thought goes out the window and the medical staff was concerned about my heartrate and stress causing damage to my system. 0 out of 5 stars, would not recommend.

The most painful instance that I've experienced is when I caught a cramp in my calf muscle, while I was sleeping. It tensed up so much that it popped and I got a tear in my calf muscle and had to wear a support on it for several weeks just to walk. Actually surprised that I didn't have to have surgery. It hurt 10x worse than me having my hand caught in a tablesaw...

The worst pain I've felt was a freshwater stingray stung in my foot. I would've gladly accepted if someone offered to cut my leg. Absolutely awful and it lasted for hours. I've read in some forum about a woman who had given birth, had kidney stones and also was stung by a stingray (although a saltwater species I believe) and she said that both the kidney stones and stingray were more painful than giving birth and they were comparable to each other.

The most painful thing I’ve been through was when I was a kid. I fell and hit my knee on a stone, which was extremely painful on its own, but then 10 minutes later I was running up stairs and smashed the same knee on an iron railing. When I was in 3rd grade I managed to fall down an asphalt hill on the playground. Rode my knee the whole way down. Immeasurable pain, couldn't walk, had to be taken home. Nobody could tell us what happened. Two weeks later I jumped on my bed and landed on my knees and about died. It was still so intense. I also fell off equipment on the playground when my parents took me (school playground was open after hours) and dropped my tailbone on a stone...HOLY...I couldn't breathe for a moment. I've spent a decent amount of ER time the last couple years but I'd take those IVs, the ABG, etc over that any day.

The knees have a nerve center that, when hit, can cause a debilitating response like getting hit in the solar plexus. If knee pain is the worst you’ve had so far, you’re pretty lucky, though. It’s bad but not kidney stone bad.

The worst pain I have felt is pretty minor compared to these, but I broke several carpal bones and radius in a bad fall. That wasn't so bad, and actually took a couple days and my girlfriend's pressure to see a doctor. The pain was having those bones reset. That hurt like hell. The worst thing I’ve ever had to endure is necrotizing pancreatitis and the complications that followed the months after my first episode(large painful cysts that formed over the affected area ect). The pain was a solid 15. The feeling that best describes it is it feels like a very strong person is pushing into your rib cage and slowly pulling your organs out. My pain is at a constant 7, never letting up paired with severe pressure and discomfort. I have zero appetite unless I self medicate. I lose days of sleep bordering insanity. (Resulted in me watching your KZfaq. Amazing work btw. And gaming to save me from a full on cabin fever meltdown. I have little control of both of my bodies waste disposal systems and have to always know where my skis test bathroom is. I’m losing weight with no exercise. (Only took out sugar, dense carbs and fat to prevent additional pancreatic stress and to cater to my newly formed diabetic requirements.) I am in hell and some days I want to die, even knowing I have children I would leave behind. It goes much further than just the physical pain. I feel worthless on this couch and my attempts to exercise fail seconds after I’ve begun as I am perpetually fatigued. This is the most painful thing I’ve had to endure.

@@AleisterSorinMarkovI sorta liked skis test 😂 I'm sorry you're having to live with this. My sole piece of advice to offer is don't give up on physical activity completely. Maybe try a foot stepper or pedal you put on the floor and work your lower legs. If a few seconds is all you manage, okay. A few minutes do a few more. A lot of my patients have bad COPD with the same issue. Some of them have made progress this way. It takes a lot of willpower but you may even regain a sense of purpose and that could only help. Best of luck to you.

I adopted a dog who lived most of her life as a street dog. When the pound picked her up, they took x-rays because they noticed one of her back legs was shorter than the other and she walked with a slight limp. Turns out at some point in her life, she fractured her femur in at least 3 places and her body over time formed several false joints with the non-union fracture and the muscles of the leg contracted, making the leg shorter. She had just gotten used to it over the course of months or maybe years and the body healed the only way it could. We've had the leg amputated to improve her mobility and she's doing great now. I just cringe thinking about the pain she must have had with a broken leg and surviving on the streets like that all by herself!

I had to call my dad to drive me to the hospital. I felt every little bump on the way there. I remember throwing up from the pain when I got to the hospital. When he came back, he fixed the 3 stitches... without giving me any painkillers or anesthesia... boi that fucking hurt so bad. I suffer from chronic pain, so I’m very attuned to what different levels of pain feel like in my body. The worst pain I’ve ever experienced is orders of magnitude worse than things like a compound fracture to my lower leg. This most horrible pain happens to me about every two to three years. I need occasional steroid injections into the tendons in the palms of my hands. These injections contain lidocaine so the pain doesn’t last very long, but the first 15-30 seconds of the injections is so painful that I can’t even describe what it feels like. My vision goes dark. My diaphragm freezes up so that I can’t inhale or exhale. My brain first screams and then starts to shut down. If the pain lasted any longer than it does, I’m certain I’d pass out. The doctor is well aware of how painful these injections are and she’s very sweet about it, apologizing the whole time she’s giving me the injection. She sprays that stuff that essentially freezes the area first, which helps numb the pain a little but not much. I’m not the slightest bit afraid of needles but the thought of these hand injections causes great anxiety for me. But, 30 seconds after I’ve gotten the injection, I don’t feel any more pain. When the lidocaine wears off, my hand works fine again, so it’s definitely worth it. I just wouldn’t want to do it very often.

The most painful thing I’ve ever experienced Was by far getting compartment syndrome I had it on my lower right leg and I sat on it for almost 4 days and in the ER it was so painful I literally don’t remember thinking about anything else , I ended up having five surgeries for debridement and a fasciotomy and had to remain on a wound VAC for a total of five months, that was last year and even till this day I lost muscle and I’ve lost the ability to move my right foot . I had trigeminal neuralgia for several years. It was caused by a oral surgery and was very hard to pinpoint exactly what the problem was for the longest time.. I actually self diagnosed it and brought it to the attention of doctors until they listened. Fast forward years later after trying medications, exc my neurologist agreed to do a exploratory craniotomy on me. I actually agreed to a procedure called micro vascular decompression with a understanding from the doctor that if he didn’t see a reason to do that, he would instead mess up the nerves at my brain stem to shut off the pain signals. Basically, no one believed it was actually caused from a oral surgery. Go figure. I had surgery January 2021. It took a year to recover from it. I’m finally pain free and just have numbness in my face now. It’s wonderful I’m 34 years old. I hope to never, ever experience something so painful again.

My eldest child labor process was 14 hours. I had "back labor" all the pain concentrated on my lower back. It was painful. No meds for me, I had some allergies. I found that being crouched relieved the pain. The doctor agreed that I deliver my baby crouching, it went super well. My other birth was on less time, just 4 hours and I used the crouching technique... this helped a lot with pain.

Honestly, my IUD was the worst pain I've ever experienced. I was told there'd be "cramping" but let me tell you, I screamed and begged them to stop it it was so awful. Not ashamed to say I cried on the table. I remember thinking "is this how a fish feels to be gutted?" It's not like that for everyone, but I remember having trouble sleeping for a night or three. (And yes, I know this is a procedure pain, not injury related but any time I hear "worst pain ever felt," this is what I think of. I can easily say it was 10 on the pain scale and would not wish it on anyone ever).

One of my close friends broke his femur at 3 years old. Don’t even know how, never bothered to ask, but I remember the process so well. Since he was so young and his bones weren’t fully developed yet, they not only had to put a cast on the broken leg, but they also had to do the same process to the non-damaged leg and connect the two in order to prevent the entire lower half of his body from moving and potentially damaging it more. He wasn’t able to stand, let alone walk, for nearly seven months. To his credit, I’ve never seen someone in that situation be so happy and content.

Kidney stones will be a new daily reminder to drink enough water (>人<) The most pain I've experienced had to have been ulcerative colitis. I was diagnosed at 6, had a total colectomy at 10, and healed up astoundingly well. No pain since then. The most excruciating pain I have ever had is from my TMJ where my jaw, literally locks in place and "unlocking" is never easy or painless. It's exactly how it feels to have a bone being reset back into place and the pain can't be managed. TMJ also has no viable treatments and it can last a lifetime. TMJ only occurs when I am under extreme levels of stress or anger. And it started back in 2017 when I was starting my Senior year in high school so it was a living hell for me.

i had a kidney stone with i was 14 and i has truly never felt such intense pain in my life. my parents took me to my primary care doctor, and she was worried that my appendix was going to rupture, because of the intense amount of pain i was in. she said that i needed to go to the ER, so my parents took me. i waited forever, and eventually i had to cause i scene because nobody was taking me seriously and i hadn’t been given pain medication, even though i was puking from the pain. they eventually did an MRI (?) i think. they confirmed that i had a 2mm kidney stone. i could not comprehend the fact that my body felt like it was imploding from something only 2mm in size. they sent me home with some pain killers and i passed it on my own about a week later. definitely 10/10 on my personal pain scale. oh yeah, and since i was so young when i developed it (the youngest patient the ER physician said he’d ever seen with one) i was told i’d probably produce them for the rest of my life.. I was diagnosed with atypical trigeminal neuralgia a few months ago after unknowingly dealing with it for over 4 years. All that time I just thought I was having frequent exteme migraines because migraines run in my family, so I didn't give it a second thought and tried to deal with the pain by using normal pain relief or migraine medication. Of course none of that helped whatsoever and it made me unable to do anything because the pain was just so intrusive. After it began to become more and more frequent as well as painful, my parents finaly convinced me to go to the doctor who immediatly concluded it was trigeminal neuralgia and prescribed me some meds and told me to go to a neurologist to be sure. The meds worked like a charm and seemed to have basically eradicated the headaches, but as soon as I stopped taking them (because they ran out) it returned so badly that I was litteraly incapacitated for 3 days straight. When I was put on medication again it didn't work anymore, so the dosage was increased which did help to manage the pain again. I was ultimately officialy diagnosed with the condition and told that there wasn't a cure and that I could have it for the rest of my life. I know have to take 2 pills a day (one lower and one higher dosage) which doesn't eradicate the pain, but make it managable enough so I can actually lead a relatively normal life. The only thing I have to look out for is cold wind as well as touching that area of my face because that can trigger an instant migraine like attack. Before the meds I would rate the pain as a 9/10 and with the meds it has come down to a 2 or 3/10.

The top five most painful things I've experienced in my life would be: 1. When I was around maybe 10 or 11 years old, I was getting a haircut and during the process, my stepdad at the time accidentally cut the entire top portion of my right ear off with the pair of scissors he was using to cut my hair. It hurt and bled a lot. Incidentally, about a day or two before this, my stepdad was play wrestling with my sister and he fell on her and broke her femur. She was in a body cast for 6 months. 2. Around the same age as the one above, maybe a bit younger, I was biking up a hill and had turned around to wave bye to my friends. When I turned to look forward again, I ran straight into a mailbox and then skid onto the pavement, shredding multiple layers of skin off of my left shoulder. I had to use aloe vera to treat it for at least a month. 3. Epididymal Hypertension. If you know, you know. 4. Generally speaking, tooth pain. 5. Generally speaking, back pain, but more specifically, sciatica and just soreness, tenderness, muscle aches in my lower back that also contribute to overall irritation due to muscle spasms in my sleep. This has persisted in my life since 2013. I've learned to live with it, though lately it's been acting up more because my bed is 12 years old and I need a new one badly.

An episode of Acute pancreatitis, worst pain I've ever felt. Felt like I was being stabbed in my lower back, stomach and side's all at the same time. I was throwing up bile and every heave felt like another stab, I couldn't breath and collapsed on my bathroom floor. When I got to hospital I was lying on the floor of the ER waiting room as it was too painful for me sit in a chair. I remember being wheeled into an examination room and sobbing, begging for it to stop. They gave me a shot of what I later found out was morphine and woke up hour's later in intensive care. It was the pain that woke me up, again I was given more pain relief. Long story short I was in hospital for just over 3 months as I developed sepsis which was very worrying for my family, I only found out after being discharged from hospital how serious sepsis following acute pancreatitis can be. Fortunately I am very lucky and had no necrosis of the pancreas and have made an almost complete recovery, I now watch what I eat and am teetotal.

My personal list (from bad to worse): 1) Kidney stones: 1/10 for me. I didn’t know I had them. I had bursts of fever and felt miserable, but I thought that it was a flu! Only occasionally I felt something tight at the height of my kidneys. 2) Getting cut by a sword 1/10: it was an accident and cut me into the hand to the bone. It felt like a papercut, but the squirting blood told a different story… I was more frustrated about the useless bystanders who ran around like headless chickens so that I needed to patch myself up! 3) Corner of my nail growing into my flesh and getting inflamed: 3/10. It was a constant drumming but not too bad. 4) Ruptured tendon: 11/10 (first I didn’t feel anything. Then the adrenaline faded and I tried to put wait on my foot, the pain knocked me out! Thereafter I was on strong painkillers so it doesn’t really count). 5) Nail torn off: 9/10 The pain was great but didn’t last long. 6) Skin torn off 9/10: same as with the nail. (I walked until I had blisters and those broke and when I removed my shoes, the socks didn’t go off!) 7) Broken bones: 8/10: sharp pain and then hammering, but fading with every beat ever so slightly. Happened to me twice. Once my hand, once a toe. 8) Ear inflammation 8/10 unlike a broken bone, the pain just doesn’t stop! It’s like someone is hammering a nail into your skull 24/7! For some reason, every time I had this BS, it was during a vacation, or on a Sunday. I always had to go to the ER, because the regular doctors were out of service. 9) Having to endure my dad: 10/10. An evil narcissist is something like a cross between an internet troll and a dementor. Absolutely nothing did as much permanent damage as he did. I wanted to kill him, to destroy him to the point that only blood spatter remains. He was simply the worst. The world would be better off without him. The funniest part: He started to insult me and provoke me, then turned around and walked to the edge of a cliff, basically daring me to kick him down! I wondered for the longest time, how he could be this stupid, giving me such a great opportunity, but then a friend told me, that it was most definitely that he hated his life, hated us, and wanted me to murder him and spend the rest of my time regretting it. So basically, something similar to suicide by cop, or some idi0t going splat like a bug on the front of a train during rush hour... (traumatizing the driver and making sure that hundreds come late) PS: something weird about 4) When I went KO, I dreamed to wake up on a tropical beach. It was the only time I was sort of lucid dreaming, as I was aware that I was currently lying somewhere IRL. I knew that the pain had knocked me out, but in my dream, there was no pain, but the sound of waves and birds and the warm sunshine on my skin, and a soft breeze. Even crazier, I did wonder if I had died, but I didn't care at the point. I felt happy, not in the sense of instant gratification, but like when you struggled for a long time with some hardship, and finally conquered it and you go and eat your favorite food and relax for the first time in a long time. I didn't want to wake up. Normally, I don't want to die, but in this dream world, I felt so much better than in my real life. Even after the pain was long gone, I still longed to see that place again, even if it was just my imagination. When I try to do lucid dreaming, then my dream crashes (looks like a glitch in a game, just like having my hands become all blurry with a dozen fingers on each hand) and I wake up.

I've had some painful injuries and not so painful. The most memorable and painful was when an iron fell on my back. It was an accident, but it was on, and somehow the pain didn't register until it gave me a second degree burn. This was when I was almost 10, over a decade ago. 10/10 pain for sure, and the treatments sucked as well. Needed cream on my back all the time, and the bandages would tear the skin each time they needed changing. Worst experience of my life. Another experience later, I was having a pillow fight with my cousin. Was running into a room when the wind came and slammed the door on my fingers, the metal part that keeps it shut. skin was completely torn off from 2 of my fingers, and I could see my veins. I was screaming bloody murder, and yes it was 10/10 pain. Thankfully today they are fully functional. The initial experience sucked, but the treatment wasn't as bad as treating my back. 3rd one you'd think would be painful, but I had definitely been through worse at that point. Highschool, I broke my right 5th metacarpal bone during volleyball. It went low and I dived for it, and it was in an awkward area to dig. I got it over but cracked the back of my hand on the floor. I got up and looked at my hand, and you could see the back of it on the right was swollen. I showed my teacher and he told me to go to the hospital. Pain was a 4 at worst. They put me on gas when they set it, and I thought it was hilarious that my voice sounded deep, but to them it was high. I said imagine how painful this would be without gas, and the doctor said I would be punching him xD. Certainly not the worst treatment, but definitely the most boring. The muscles kept moving my bone out of place, so they did surgery to put a metal plate in to hold the bone in the correct position as it healed. I guess the muscles in that part of the hand can be tense. Honestly the worst part about it was I wasn't able to play video games for like 6 weeks, I got out of the cast after a few and put into a splint. Then I got the splint off later. Had to do these annoying massages on my hand. Worth it though, I can fully open and close my hand no problem. But man 6 weeks no video games. Boring I tell you. Last and most recent one, 2020, 4 years after graduation I got chronic ingrown toenails. I thought not playing video games for 6 weeks sucked. I had them for the whole year! Ingrown toenails are classed as chronic after 6 months of having them. They kept coming back, and each one was just as painful as the other. On their own without pressure it was a 5, but I couldn't wear shoes at all, because the pain would go up to an 8 from any pressure. The treatments also sucked. They are called excisions. The doctor would inject anaesthetic in 3 locations on the toe, then once it is numb, they use a tool that looked like really thin and small scissors to go underneath on the side of the affected toe. Cut off 1/4 of the toenail completely, then they use another tool to dig under the flap on the side and pull out the ingrown one. Then they put medicine and antiseptic ointment in, and bandage it up. I had that procedure done 4 times. The other times were when they decided it was time for the matrix to go, a part of the bedding under the toenail that actually grows the nail. It wasn't completely removed, just on the sides, so the nails can't grow into the skin on the side anymore. They look mostly normal now. After the treatments it would take a while for the nail to grow back, but after the matrix was burnt with acid, they don't grow into the sides anymore which was causing them to be ingrown. One experience was terrible. There was always a burning pain a few hours after the minor surgeries, but on one of them it got really bad. 8 out of 10 pain for quite a number of hours, and I was playing video games to try distract myself. Honestly though, so much time went into making appointments and dealing with my ingrown nails. What I experienced today was nothing compared to that. Woke up in the morning and vomited in the toilet, violently enough that some came out my nose. I think a stomach bug caused it. Didn't vomit after that but I did have the runs. Nasty smell and taste, and I slept the day away. But that just reminded me of not the most painful one off experiences, but definitely not fun. My right eardrum was ruptured once, and I was put on eardrops. Didn't realise I was allergic to them until 2 weeks later. That whole time, vomiting, the runs, dizziness, nausea, headaches, fatigue and drowsiness. NOT fun.

The corneal burn make me shiver just thinking about it.I'm really prissy when it comes to my eyes, don't even manage to put contact linses in. And you know that inner eye pressure test (where you get some air blown in)... I can't even keep my eyelids open when I just sit down on the chair before the test device. Of all these mentioned I only experienced the trigeminal neuralgia (always the right ophtalmic branch for some unknown reason). It's really debilitating, and yes, nothing seems to help. I'm glad it was some time ago I last had to deal with it. The most painful experience I've had so far might have been a) the very severe abdominal cramps I regularly had as a young teen, some years before my period started. They came in kind of attacks, lasting about hald an hour hurt so much I would lay crying and curled up and could not even move and b) an infected tooth root with the infection spreading up into my Maxillary sinus. I was feeling so bad from the pain (and sleep and food deprived) with quite high fever that my dad drove me to the hospitalon fiday eveneing, and I really counted the hours until I could finally get to the dentist (of course these things allways occur on weekends, right?). That was some years ago. And recently the very same tooth, since then just an empty shell with the root "killed" was extracted. Some germs from then were still there and had grown a big abscess under the tooth. It's only two days now that the dentist pulled the strings out and two more since the Oroantral fistula I got from it closed. Relieving to feel better again... Pain is a very ugly thing linked to that human condition. I wish all of you as much painfreeness as possible.

Yep was in a car wreck when I was 14 that only just shy of compound broke my femur (the bone was pushing the skin out but hadn’t poked out yet), split my knee cap into 3 pieces, and tore 3 ligaments in my knee. Easy 10/10 pain and unimaginable for anyone that’s never experienced it, honestly. And it’s not like one of those situations where you could say, “eh I’ve broken bones before so I probably can imagine how bad it is.” No. You can’t lol. I’ve broken my right foot, 3 toes, 2 fingers, my nose 5 times, and several other semi-serious injuries and none of them have even remotely come close to a fraction of the experience that breaking my femur put me through. And that pain stays with me for the rest of my life now since I was 14 when the steel rod and screws were put in my femur so by now they’ve grown in and I’m just downhill from here basically lol

I've never had a kidney stone and am 21, but the thought of me getting one honestly makes me consider ending it in the event of getting one if it's as bad as people say.

My grandfather worked at GM for many years (1960-2000ish) I remember years ago when I was a kid overhearing him talking about accidentally looking at a welding torch and he said for days after it felt like someone was constantly pouring hot sand into his eyes. While at Gm he also got so severely burnt over like 65% of his body. The watch he had on legitimately melted off his wrist! He survived and actually went on to work another 25 years for GM haven’t several months of healing. Many skin grafts and lots of PT!

Ive only ever had one flash burn from a welder and I couldnt see properly for 3 days. Lets just say always make sure your stick welder is turned off before dropping the electrode...

So my doctor said it looks like kidney stones may be developing when they did a bunch of stomach exams. Is there any way to ensure they stop forming if they have already started?

I am living with EDS ( still waiting a double confirmation by a geneticist but my fam doctor brought the diagnosis) and I suffer with chronic joint pain and I decided not to go the medicine route and just live with the pain. Acknowledging it and treat it with warm compress, topical rubs and patience and it's been going great for me. I'd rather be in pain slightly on the daily than be on drugs for the rest of my life.

How did they finally conclude this as your diagnosis? I'm constantly in pain with my back, have disc Degeneration, an SI Joint Fusion because my SI Joint was dislocated. They didn't know it was dislocated until the SI fusion surgery. I have also had a Microdiscectomy, but have been told that the disc is herniated again... now I'm laying here in so much pain because I got up Monday morning at 2 AM and almost hit the floor from the amount of pain I'm in. What they have me at the ER today did absolutely nothing to help and now I'm laying here with tears falling trying to let my husband sleep so he can take me to the spine Dr in the morning and then go to work himself after that.

I broke my wrist destroyed my tendons. I broke my leg to the point the only thing holding it on my body was my skin. But NEVER have I had a worse pain than kidney stones. Curled up in a ball like a sleeping dog, on the floor literally agonizing and screaming in pain. That was during college when all I drank was Coca Cola. Do yourself a MASSIVE favor, and stop drinking coke right now.

Personally I have dislocated my knee twice, had glass and sea urchin quills (separate occasions) surgically removed from my foot, loosing a small tip of my finger in a lawnmower accident, rupturing my c4-c5 vertebrae from a car accident, and having permanent ‘facial droop’ from a surfing accident when my face slammed into the sand....but when a metal shaving from an electric grinder AND when I got ‘Welders Arch’ was definitely and for sure the worst pain I ever felt and would wish that experience on no one....love your vids🥰

Recently I travelled to Bolivia🇧🇴, visiting after more than 20 years, and at night I fell so bad on the hard floor that I dislocated muy shoulder, and I struggled a lot to get correcto attention, first at a public hospital they let me walk around to pay for xray, which they did only one incidence or projection, saying there was no dislocation. I passed almost 24 hours with that pain, despite pain medication in another clinic. 😱

bruising the funnybone to a point where it is on the edge of breaking, i could not move my left arm without crying, the smallest movement sent shocks through my entire arm and for some reason whenever i went to bed i always woke up on my belly with my arm underneath in my skateboarding days i had quite some injuries but this one was definitly the worst pain ive ever felt in life. it took 6 maybe 7 weeks to heal up

The worst pain I've ever felt was from one of the muscle spasms I had in my right leg. Normally I manage to prevent it or reduce the pain, but that one I had went full blast to the point where I cried. Every time I moved my leg after it died down for a few minutes it started back up again. This kept happening for a good ten minutes before I decided to just stop moving for an hour. My leg was f×cked that day, and I hope it doesn't get that bad again.
