Changing the timing belt, tensioner, idlers, accessory belts, accessory belt idlers, water pump and thermostat on a 2003 Dodge Stratus Coupe, 3.0L Mitsubishi V6. Same as Eclipse, and Galant, similar to Montero. 6G72

use a phone book between the oil pan and jack... won't dent or crush. unlike wood

My left can was just as your was, now I knew the cams are spring loaded so I tried to be as careful as I could but I wasn't carful enough and the cam flue right past my TDC mark by a quarter revolution, how can correct it so as not to bend my values ? Any help would be appreciated.

Been a while but if it were mine I'd carefully turn the cam backwards to line it back up. Iirc I had to do that a bit when I did mine. I'd expect that as long as you don't turn the crank or try to spin the cam all the way around it shouldn't hit. Good luck.

@@aaronsrose Thanks much , I was thinking of doing that but couldn't recall for sure but I almost think I recall see a video advising not to do such a thing but as I said not really sure.

Well I did just that turned it back to the TDC mark and the exact same thing happened the spring kick-the-cam backwards the same distance as it did the first time forward only this time I heard the most disturbing sound like valve's hitting Pistons

Howdy! Boy that's been a while. I don't recall 100% whether it was even a press fit. I seem to recall I may have used a standard 3-jaw puller if it needed one. Thanks!

Sir, will a broken belt damage the valves on this type of engines?

Been a while but I don't believe so. I think it is a non interference engine.

how did you remove the crankshaft pulley?

Howdy! It's been a while but if I recall correctly I think it just comes off when you take out the center bolt. I don't recall needing a puller, though if one was required, there should be enough room once the lower side fender panel is removed. Thanks!

did you have to lock the pulley? Or was it with an impact gun?

Definitely impact gun to remove the bolt. But it spun out easily after it broke loose.
