This material is not ideal for highly humid or corrosive environments; however, we do offer this series in stainless steel which may be a potential alternative in your current application. The slit in the QD bushing allows the inner diameter of the bushing to shrink as the set/grub screws are tightened, thus clamping on the shaft. Without the slit, the bushing would resist compression. The slit will allow the bushing to fit snugly on shafts with different diameter tolerances (shaft might be designed slightly oversized or undersized depending on the equipment), while providing consistent increase in diameter based on the wall thickness of the bushing (economy style plastic sleeve rotation bearings will also have a slit, despite serving a different function).
