Does Ruben Amorim speak English? | Potential new Liverpool manager

Күн бұрынSporting CP manager Ruben Amorim is being lined up as a potential successor to Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, but is the Portuguese coach able to speak English?
The short answer is yes.
That could be seen as he fielded a series of questions from English-speaking journalists following a 1-1 draw between Tottenham and Sporting in 2022.
He did not require a translator, nor any delay, when faced with English, Northern Irish and Australian accents, answering fluently and laughing along with a question on VAR.

They have realised multi club model is way to go especially when you see city picking up Girona (part of city group) players for dirt cheap prices and openly flouting FFP rules. And also, they were willing to splash a transfer record on Caicedo, so we can always hope 😊

I get surprised with his communication skill and confident approach and expression, so I would say welcome at Anfield and I really appreciate Liverpool management system in finding players and manager on time and in SMART way

It really is one of his strongest points, his approach towards media, as a Portuguese Sporting fan, I’m devastated, but as a foreigner Liverpool fan, I’ve never been so excited in my life, i don’t think most Liverpool fans have any idea of what the future holds for us, Ruben is a lifelong Benfica fan and obviously a club legend, and yet he managed to become the most loved icon of their biggest rivals in the 21st century. The English equivalent of what he did in Portugal would be something like Jack wilshere becoming a manager and leading Tottenham to a premier league title with a front three of Richarlison, Bryan Gil and timo Werner, all while still not having the necessary coaching degree to be listed as coach in the team sheet

No problem for me as I understood all that he said. More importantly is the communication with the Players to get the game moving smoothly to win. The Man-Management has to be there so that no dressing room disruption ensue. He looks young if you guys prefer an older James Bond? The Energy is there.

I have always hoped and prayed that we would win matches down the years. Never have I ever expected, much less demanded, of any of our managers that we win ALL of our games. How on earth did you interpret that from my previous comment. I repeat, our next manager will inherit a superior squad to that which Klopp got when he arrived.

VAR is used all over Europe, not just the EPL. Amorim was asked about VAR in this very interview. VAR isn't the issue, the people operating VAR is the issue.

eh what the fooook did he say???? also i think he might be able to pull off something amazing... ive got that tummy feeling that everything will click into place like how this season despite huge hurdles and odds with a completely new midfield and tons of promising youngsters, we're joint top!! if he smashes next seasons first initial few games, the confidence boost will be amazing for him.... also the 3 yr dealio is perfect allowing us and him room for maneuvre if it doesnt work out, unlike chelseas model

There is ‘speaking English’ and then there is Jürgen Klopp. Jürgen speaks words that any intelligent lover of the game is fascinated to near. Over and above his management skills, Jürgen’s collected press conferences are a thing of beauty. Win, lose or draw, he’s always interesting. Ruben seems a nice enough chap.

He's not Klopp, but then no one else is. Fact is we need to try and embrace whoever comes in and accept who he is. I don't think it's helpful if the fan base constantly compares the new manager to Klopp at every opportunity.
