God I loved playing this on my 360. As far as I'm concerned this was the third movie in my head canon.

At the time of its release, I thought it was so weird that a Ghostbusters game was dropping, it was 2009, Ghostbusters 3 was in development hell still, and it had no other media presence, but surprisingly, both the 360/PS3 and the Wii version were good,, but this was as close to Ghostbusters 3 as we can get, especially since we lost Harold Ramis. (Yeah, Terminal Reality has been dead since 2013, killed by a combination of Kinect Star Wars and The Walking Dead: Survival Instincts)

I played both the original and remaster on pc, never seen that bug where it's not showing the intro cinematics.

25:21 when Matt Crosses the streams. Fun Fact: in the game, crossing the stream actually does A LOT of damage to the enemies, like almost instant kill, and I love doing it every time, sure you get knocked back doing it but it’s worth it.

Missed opportunity with this game to have character creation, would’ve been neat to have seen what OC ghostbusters players would’ve come up with.

Slimer officially has no real background, but as a joke canon he's been described as the "Ghost of John Belushi". There's also a Marvel comic that says he was an obese king, which is really strange. I personally go with the "John Belushi" answer. Also yes, they absolutely fight Cthulhu in the show, as well as the Boogeyman and the actual Christmas ghosts. That show was so good ^^

IIRC the original game was released by Atari, back when they had enough money to put a big banner on the LA convention center for E3.

The older game never had these bugs I played it. This newer one seems to be badly remastered.

Bill Murray said he agreed to voice this as a favor to Harold Ramis, I assume that's the only reason any of them came back.

I'd have to say that this game doesn't really get all that repetitive, thanks to it introducing new enemy types in basically every level, as well as having weapon variants on the proton pack.

That was a bug at the start, the menu is meant to start out side the ghostbusters building and when you go into career it goes into the garage, when you hit new new career it was meant to play 2 cutscenes.

Btw the Real Ghostbusters series straight up had Cthulhu in a episode. No stand in or anything. I would actually recommend casually watching the series if you have time. Lot of good stuff there.

I never got that cutscene glitch. Kinda sucks, the cutscenes are my favorite part of the game other than actually catching lol.

For some reason, I love the idea of a world ending entity like Vigo being reduced to office decor and powerless, but is still able to talk mad shit like a pro.

The original release was put out by Atari. Q*Bert's appearance in the movie and this game is a bit of corporate synergy: The Sony-owned Columbia Pictures, which puts out the Ghostbusters movies, also owns Q*Bert thanks to the studio's purchase of Gottlieb. That's one of the weirdities of corporate structure: Q*Bert actually belongs to Sony Pictures, not SCE. That's why updates of Q*Bert have been put out on non-PlayStation hardware.

So that's weird, I played the OG wii then ps3, and got this Switch version. Never had issues with that version funny enough and I played the game Halloween weekend. Its a tradition for me.

For a game that has an all-star cast and enormous icon status behind it, it's also bizarrely tragically underrated. One of the absolute best "based on a movie" games I've ever played.

I remember playing this on the Wii, It was so damn fun waving the Wiimote around to slam the ghosts to hell and back. I do agree with you on it getting repetitive, especially towards the ending, the final 3 "Episodes" of the game, Which contained this island, a revisit to the Sedgwick, and then the final fight, got a lil... bleh. Especially the Island level, which is just a Sewer Level but bad, even if there were like fifty dozen pipelines of neon ghost jizz to make it look like a weird cyberpunk rave sewer.

loved this on the 360, but i was SHOCKED to see this with the big yikes of a bootup at the beginning because my remastered download on the SWITCH of all things had no issues like that :(

Strange, I have no troubles with cutscenes on PC. But game does not save settings and opened artifacts and ghosts...

Yeah, there was a Cthulhu stand-in in one of the episodes named 'Cathulhu' that appears ion the appropriately named "The Collect Call of Cathulhu".

There are times in this game where I don’t know where to go or what to do like one sewer section near the end of the game where I’m locked in a room and the game tells me to drain an ocean of black slime but it doesn’t tell me how to do it or what to look for. But this was a fun game before Luigi’s mansion 3 came out last year.

Those loading screens seem off for sure. So, from what I can remember the original cast was pretty involved. I think Dan Ackroid said the script for a video game was about 3000 pages compared to a movie at about 200. The whole thing added elements from his original ideas for the movie that were just beyond what any budget could afford at the time. I was speaking with someone about that time, back in the old msn days who worked on it. I can't remember too.many details of what was said though, other than coop being scrapped for more stuff on screen blowing up. 100% right the wii/ps2 version looks better. Aged better too. Sadly this version is alot like Alan Wake, Amazing story but very repetitive gameplay.

Really, really enjoyed this when it came out despite being aware some of the controls were ... challenging. Probably came down to a combination of loving the original IP, and also having pretty low expectations due to the nature of how it came about, and how production had been halted on it at least once. That said, given that it felt a little clunky when it came out, when I finally played the remaster on Switch, it definitely hasn't aged too gracefully. Still fun, but not as fun as I remembered.

I played the Xbox 360 version and, while it was a good game, it will forever remain in my memory as that game I couldn't get all of the achievements for because of a bug that prevented two of them from working. It did later get a patch that made it possible to get them all... unless you already played the game. So for those who wanted to get those last achievements, those who were asking for the patch in the first place, the patch was useless.

I do feel like a truely great ghostbusters game could be a mixture of this and something akin to XCOM. I’d probably be in the minority but I wish more IP stuff would make the little menusha of franchise represented w/ mechanics. A ghostbusters game should have business sim elements, in the same way I’d love to see a Spider-Man game to have dating sim/visual novel mechanics or how a open world Batman game should have a day/night cycle with a dead rising style countdown clock.

I like this game, but I'm just gonna say it: I would've rather had a game based on The Real Ghostbusters, provided that Frank Welker wouldn't mind voicing Venkman since Lorenzo Music had died years earlier.

The cutscenes are meant to have full video, not just text. I think it’s something wrong with the PC port or your version has glitched out or something. It plays fine on PS4 and Xbox One. I would really love for you to a ‘Wha Happn’ on this game, after the merger between Activision and Vavindi and then being picked up by a dying Atari, it’s honestly a miracle that it exists in the first place. Oh and Harold Ramis’ surname is pronounced ‘Ray-miss’ not ‘Rammy’.

The original 360 release had background loading. So it never cut to the car to load. Thats wierd that the remaster doesn't do that

Loved this game when it first dropped. Huge fan of the original films! Played this remaster recently and it's a buggy mess. I couldn't even play with Kb/M as it would crash to desktop when I tried to load in. It's a shame as it's a good game. If the team put some love into this remaster it could of been glorious!

What sucks about the Remaster version they remove the multiplayer mode that were on the ps3 and 360 ports. So my guess they use the pc port code, as I own the original pc and 360 ports the OG PC version have no multiplayer modes. Oh and the OG PC port hates when you try to install it into any other drivers it much be the C only, anything other driver you'll get a error...thanks Atari.... There was ghostbusters on the Nintendo ds too. it's a way different game tho. it's was like a reimagine or updated take of the NES Ghostbusters game, but as a real time strategy game instead, you can drive the Ecto-1 and needed to go to the location/building to bust the ghost, and needed money to upgrade your gear. they use cutscenes and the basic plot from the ghostbusters the video game cartoony style.
