🎼 She's waited for me while I've done my time...🎸🎼 Cash and Stuart's version is a gem, a legend is knowing that you sing with Cash.

Thanks for highlighting the Marty Stuart version. For most of his tenure in Cash’s band, he was the third guitar and Bob Wooten played all the Luther parts. This song was the exception. They recorded it in the studio with a young Marty for the Rockabilly Blues album but didn’t include it. But it was a regular in the live set back then. It can be seen on the rare Live in London video from that era. Marty tears into the b-bender for the solos and transforms the song.

You're absolutely right, thanks for pointing that out! I thought about including Marty's b-bender solo but I couldn't figure it out as good as I wanted to, so I abandoned the idea.

AS a giant Bob Wootton fan I love the way he played on the original "Man In Black" so good behind that Acoustic Chord strumming..if you ever get the time love to see that played.

It's been a while since your last video. Thank you for this one. I still prefer old Luther style over any other styles, but I like Marty Stuart version too!

Awesome as usual! You should compare The Tennessee Flat Top Box from the different players he used sometime. Luther, Bob, and Jim Soldi

Great video, I don't know if you take requests but if you could do a cover of folsom prison blues in the san quentin style that would be absolutely amazing

Thank you! I'm always happy to get new ideas for videos, so I really appreciate your request! Did you check out my Folsom Prison Blues comparison video? The Bob Wootton version is pretty much how he played it at San Quentin. On the recording it's just faster and with a bit more overdrive. But I'll include it when I do revisit of this song. Thanks again!

I really think it'd be cool if you did I walk the line next
@cashfriends

Thank you! I'll put it on my list, but Luther and Bob only play one or two notes different from each other on I 'Walk The Line' so I'm not sure if it's worth an extra video.

When I saw Bob Wootton he said Marty Sturart was one of the few that could play like Luther..You have that Wootton "Bonce" down real good..a lot of people play a more Luther Perkins style few get close to the Wootton style..even Wootton played more like Luther when he was out after Cash past I ask him after I had seen him and family play and he said Yes maybe a little. Because he was concentrating on his singing and didn't want to mess up with the guitar as sometimes the cadence needed a little more attention.
