The j-11 should have access to the Chinese PL-12 and PL-15 missiles too. I've seen mods of them being used in BVR and you're correct. It makes the flankers very dangerous.

If a pilot flew this way they'd be dismissed. Real life isn't compatible with this sort of flying, but it looks cool and surely is skillful in DCS. it's about risk mitigation though

PVP Dcs is the most fun i've had in a game ever. But I'm extremely competitive so I understand it's not for everyone. I recommend trying for sure.

I only had 1500kg of fuel left and there's no way I was out running that 2nd and 3rd guy. So may as well cause as much damage as possible.

J-11, a Chinese variant with access to fox-3 R-77s in DCS. It's basically the exact same as the su-27

The zoom in and out is a bind on my HOTAS, the head turning is from using track ir 5

I'm well aware on BVR fighting in nato and Redfor jets, on both sides it's 10x more fun to fly low and sneak around like this. I do it in the F-16 for fun too.

but as the fight goes on and you defend skills down low are important, but the ER will go 5.5 mach can retrack if lock is dropped it has the same fuel as a aim54 the key is to use that speed and range to keep the bandits nose off of you if he does not will be a fireball.

it's the helmet close combat mode, default keybind is [5] to enable it. It's just like bore sight mode [4] but it follows where you look.

It's Either "RShift + H" or "RCtrl + H" to change the HUD colour. If you pick the wrong one all it's going to do is put down the sun visor so you're not going to blow up. Changing your HUD colour also make the colour of the HMD (the red ring) change.

Flying high and fast has its advantages but if you get caught off guard you're pretty much screwed. At least when you're flying low you can ALWAYS try to terrain mask to close the gap. Most players on GS rely on their systems/missiles to do all the work but if you get them in a merge they panic.

Track ir 5, vr in dcs is just not ready in my opinion

@@chill1478 It used to glitch occasionally when the IR light would reflect off my glasses and give a false signal, recently got contacts so that won't be happening anymore. Its so nice.

@@rippp4631 yeah cant see my hud or instruments too blurry even on max. in war thunder or vtol vr its so much better.

If you're in vertical scan mode you have to hold the lock button to pick anything up. Otherwise I only use radar right before launching a radar missile. Detection is all done through EO, this is the main advantage of the flanker. Passive lock and launch ability is great if you are within range.

@@rippp4631 that detection part is what I can't put my finger on. More often then not, I have to see their plane with my eyes to know they're there. Maybe I'm overlooking the icon in the hud when using eo. Archers with the HMD in vr are fun tho.

The HMD is useful but in my opinion the vertical scan is far more useful most of the time when you don't see the enemy but know their general direction. If you watch me fly while I'm using vertical scan, often I'm rolling the plane left and right to try and scan as much of the sky as possible as quickly as possible. This is because Russian datalink sucks and only tells you their position but not their altitude. Vertical scanning solves this problem by looking straight up and down.

@@rippp4631 one last question, any tips on trimming this bitch? its all over the fucking place, i have to constantly adjust on the stick, and make trim changes every few seconds.

@@thekirby53 Set your throttle at mil-power, around 1000 km/hr you can max out the nose down trim and it's pretty consistent for flying around at that setting. Minor adjustments are needed every now and then still but you'll get used to it. I never touch the roll trim unless its really leaning to one side because I feel like I can never balance it perfectly. But thats what makes flying the flanker fun.

It's the j-11, it's only real difference is it has access to the r-77 fox 3 missile. So it's a modernized flanker somewhat

There's a bind called hud color

Being stealthy in the server just comes from experience and knowing where the enemy AWACS is, the longer you can stay in the valleys and out of AWACS line of sight you're basically invisible to the enemy. Learn the Russian RWR, the letters on the bottom light up and tell you what type of radar is scanning you.

I have my cockpits converted to English for obvious reasons but even in the load out menu it's listed as ET as in IR extended range

If you're referring to the ending, I couldn't have gotten away if I wanted to anyway. Because I only had 1500kg of fuel left and there's no way I was gonna outrun 2 F-16s. I either would've ran out of fuel or gotten chased down and killed. Getting 2/3 of them was the best case scenario.

No if I started limping back to base those f-16s with 3 fuel tanks would have just run me down and killed me. The only possible way I could've gotten back was if I full burned the entire way back and I did not have enough gas for that.
