I just bought the one for $299. After using it on my tall grass, the only complaints I have is it doesn't last long, so I will have to buy another battery. If you have more than 1 hour to do the job, get a second battery. If your to aggressive with cutting the long grass / weeds, the grass get stuck in the head, where I have to clear it when it slows down.😒

Once DeWalt introduced this trimmer and blower and the lawnmower .I got them and liked them so much I threw away my old gas tools . And the 60V runs my 20V tools ! even the old 18V system . Thank you for showing the power and run time of this trimmer. I will never go back to gas now !! Even my girlfriend(wife soon) loves using it. best part is I don't have to start engine for her !

I have a 20v DeWalt, and love it. It's plenty powerful for my yard, even on "low". I can't imagine needing more, unless you have serious weeds like Teespring. Best thing is, it uses cheap batteries I borrow from my drills, drivers, and saw. No giant batteries to fail and cost me a fortune.

Bought one of these and wow, is it powerful! I had to get a more protective guard for the business end of this thing because it was hurling grass and other objects way too dangerously at high velocities. It made all the difference. I can cut very tall and thick grass with ease. Battery life is decent. The string reload system is different than what I was used to with other trimmers but it's easy enough. After seeing it at work in my yard, the neighbors keep asking to borrow it. 😁

The ol' garage sale purchased Homelite weed trimmer finally died after 5 years of use. Based on your video and the strong reviews in the comments, I was comfortable spending the $299 on it at Home Cheapo today. This thing... it's such a beast, I love it already after one day. I've switched from gas to battery for good. My only gripe is the installation instructions could be better put together as it was a bit confusing to follow, but was able to get it unboxed and put together for use within 30 mins. Aside from that, I'm so glad to not be yanking my shoulder out of socket and messing with fuel and oil and carburetors and all that nonsense. This DeWalt weed whip is a very happy addition to my home.

I have previously had 2-stroke, 4-stroke (surprisingly weak), drag the cord trimmers .. and to me this one keeps up, actually bests all let's not even talk 'corded', while fine for some normal city yard trimming, they are 'restrictive' gas is noisy and very high maintenance , oil, mix gas/oil, plugs and 'fuel lines' that fail .. That is the neat thing .. a cordless (& yes corded) can be in the back of your shed all winter without the slightest concern or prep work (This is something overlooked by many) but this only ages as it is used, not sitting I bought it as I was already using D-W tools giving me an extra battery and thereby making the tool 'inexpensive' ... taking down 12" grass and soft weeds it never slowed, in thick sturdy weeds it suffers like any string trimmer (I haven't gotten to my better line yet) as they 'flex' .... also , lots if heavy weeds cost battery time (same as more gas on gas trimmers) ... BUT THIS IS A BEAST NOW for commercial landscaping work , I wish people would get quiter using these, but having limited charging ability on the roaf (at minimum they'd need a 500Wcar power inverter to maybe recharge 2 cycles worth) This will be an investment as they'll need at least 3 to 5 batteries to make the day and that 800 plus the unit batteries carry 3 yr warantee , so over that time gas cost would add up too (in CA anyway) I will only have occasional need ... actuall doing some volunteer trimming since I have it - shows how much i enjoy the tool WELL WORTH IT

I’m fed up with gas powered trimmers. After years of messing with broken Ryobi’s and buying new power heads I bought a Stihl trimmer. It worked half way through the season before the catalytic convertor went ( yes a catalytic convertor in a gas trimmer). The guys at the parts place talked me into a cheaper muffler alternative and it worked fine for the rest of the season. I tried to fire it up this season and ended up having to fix carb problems and it still won’t run off idle. I literally took a 20# sledge hammer to the thing and vowed never to buy another gas trimmer again. I gave away all my ryobi attachments to a relative and I’m getting a dewalt 60v trimmer. I already have four 60v batteries from other dewalt tools to i’ll have plenty of spares. I’m just hoping I don’t have bad issues with the new trimmer. I’ve heard other guys using husky string spools with better results so I’m not opposed to modifying mine. I’ll post an update once I take possession and put it through its paces. I love Dewalt tools and own over 20 different 20-60v tools as I’m a well rounded tradesman and I live in the mountains where I restore and build cabins and mini houses on the side of one of my other jobs so cordless tools are mandatory in my more remote build site locations.

Looks like a nice trimmer. I am team Red. Bought first model without quick lok. Loved it, but my last gas trimmer had attachments. As soon as quick look came out bought another trimmer. Have string and edger setup. Just switch battery and go. So easy vs gas. Overtime lines, pump ball, and carb needed maintenance. With electric you just go and nothing to do. For my needs electric all the way on edger and stringer. Still rocking gas for mower. Love my Honda!!

I've had mine for a couple of months now & im very impressed, its very powerful & i havnt even tried the second setting (but yes the switch looks cheap) the guard is an absolute joke as its so small, but its light & powerful & well balanced machine, my one has the newer head & isn't too bad to feed new cord, I have the 6mah flexvolt battery but I'm looking at the 12mah for longer run time, one thing that I am concerned about is the motor cover being block with grass etc, I have mad my own cover that goes on top of the housing & stops any debris from blocking the vents ( may reduce the motor overheating).......

What is the venting down on the bottom by The Cutting head? I'm assuming that this is just like my Milwaukee and the motor is up top in the gear cases down at the bottom but why does it look like it's vented at the bottom or is it not vented and just looks like it? To me it looks like the ventilation slots that would be 4 forced air Cooling but I doubt that they would put any type of forced air down at the bottom where there's dirt and debris flying all around. It doesn't even make sense to put any type of venting even if it's just natural draft venting

Most all gas powered trimmers are great, but after about 3 years of use you will begin having starting issues (carburetor) no matter how good you take care of it. This one, you pull the trigger, it runs! It surprised me how long the battery lasts, even on high. However, I must disagree with the weight statement, it probably weighs about 1-1/2 times heavier than my old husky and 1-1/4 times heavier than the stihl (husky is the lightest one I have used, using it with one hand was no problem). But the weight is worth the trade off for the lack of aggravation starting it on those too hot summer days.

I have had one since they came out a year or two ago and would not take double what I gave for it .I never had problems with the line and probably used four or five packages of it but would say if you are trying to a lot of knee high weeds get a brush hog.

Looks good, but my worx Nitro trimmer is hard to beat. It uses 1 string and id extremely easy to reload and you can use extensions from other manufacturers. I do like this, though. I have to say I am a diehard worx fan, but also an avid dewalt user as well.

No problem. I like the string that is shaped like a star. Cuts great, but I just buy mine at home depot. Pretty cheap and works great 👍 . Not sure the brand type though

I just got the attatchment capable trimmer. Makes zoysia gras melt away even in the overgrown patches. Very quiet especially on hi. The 0.08 string makes far less noise than the 0.15 string that my shindiawa t242x uses. Cut a whole lawn that i could with my shindiawa, where in the end the shindiawa was almost empty and this dewalt still had power.

I;d like to see how it goes at cutting thick weeds that grow up through rocks, really tough work all day, but love the concept.

OK, it suffers the same fate as any 'string' though i just did an area next to where a gas powered struggled with 'heavy' stalk weeds and I beat them up better However .... tall thick weeds eat the battery faster than your 'average lawn' used 2 batteries on heavy overgrowth of 3 months of neglect 12x50ft - but did twice that on less than one battery with more 'average encounters' of grass n weeds

@@JohnM... i am on my second one...maybe its no better than any other string trimmer? all i know is this one sucks. i can't go a foot without having to take apart the end and re-do the string. and the newer model is even worse! you have to unstring to re-string. just please don't fall for it like i did. i am looking for a stringless alternative...i give up already

i for one, would NEVER SPEND MONEY, on a battery operated tool. Only small screwdrivers ! Also, a brushless motor, is useless. Gutless, and toy - ish. Junk, from cHINA ......with Dewalts' name on it........all modern battery operated tools, mostly junk.
