Don't Buy These Junk Luxury SUVs That Just Won't Last

Avoid this set of luxury SUVs that are some of the worst SUVs to buy, at least in my opinion. With these SUVs, you could end up with one of the least reliable cars, or an unreliable used car if you're buying after market. You could also run into a lot of depreciation, depending on when you're buying.
So from me to you, these are the SUVs I think you should never buy. There's a Jeep, a Cadillac, a Maserati, and more!
Exotic car play place, where we believe that Life's Too Short To Drive Boring Cars so we just don't and you shouldn't either.

The older, first two generations of the Cadillac Escalade from 1999 to 2006, the second-generation Acura RDX (2013 to 2018) and the second and third generations of the Lexus RX 330 and RX 350 from 2004 to 2015 are a lot better than these other luxury SUV's. Thank you very much.

I love how he ignored this comment but yes, all you need to do is check out how many of those 99-2006 Escalades are still on the road. Workhorse truck that can take you to 250k miles in style and comfort. The newer ones became unreliable because of the electronics and gadgets, not the drive train tbh.

@@stevewalters4773the retracting door handles are a terrible idea in any state that experiences winter. In Michigan we had a day last week when our cars were covered in ice when we left the office. Sure the ice could be scraped away from the Velar door handles but then the owner risks damaging the paint and there's still no guarantee that handles would be able to deploy.

Spot on Mark. Years gone by, Cadillac once had the motto "The Standard of the World" for excellence. It had its own division at GM. Now it's rebadged junk in the long line of GM products plagued by shared problems. Range Rover, the premier money pit. Jeep, another Stellantis debacle, compliments of Fiat/ Chrysler. And who doesn't love a Maserati SUV? Answer; anyone who owns a Maserati of any model. BMW gets its own dishonorable mention.

Just bought a x740i x drive against my will. Thankfully got one with 20k miles on it for 65k; almost 30 grand off of its initial sale price when new. Only plan on keeping it a few years, and with the price we paid, once sell it will be similar to a lease. The problem was, most new gm products cost the same if not more for much less bang for buck. The new escalade was exorbitantly expensive with a list price over 120k. I stayed clear of any range rover products. I was really pushing for a lexus gx, but the exterior and interior design looked decades old and wouldn't fly with the wife unfortuanrely. I think it's worth mentioning that the x740i has the b58 motor which is directly from the supra, a vehicle made under the supervision of Toyota. With it being I believe the fourth or fifth derivative of the initial n55 engine it has hopefully improved on a lot of the things you've mentioned even though almost all bmws suffer the same issues. And to be honest, I'd rather deal with Vanos and gaskets than entire transmission like gm products. The x750i I'd stay clear of as well. V8 twin turbos from. Bmw emit so much heat and the issues you mentioned happen in almost half the time as compared with the x740i

There are people who must have these large tanks, as you call them. We do not drive them to bear down on Honda Civics, some of us have kids and large families. I am raising 5 grandkids and a mentally ill daughter, and have to use a large vehicle every day. They also bring friends to church and other destinations. I would like to see the Escalade, Yukon, or the others in that class add an additional seat for a fourth row. Some of us can't drive a Ferrari or Maserati. Please Keep that perspective in mind in your videos.

"Consumer Reports" collects data from thousands of drivers...BMW brand is one of the best cars around: "Toyota, Lexus, and BMW are the top three most reliable brands in our annual auto reliability brand rankings, with the German automaker jumping up 10 spots from last year to join the two reliability stalwarts on the podium. Mazda, last year’s second-ranked automaker dropped two spots to come in fourth, while Honda rounds out the top five."

So r cases the accountants run the money and quality and research and development cost money so corners are cut. Also, in my opinion there are some manufacturers rely on aspects of engineered obsolescence.

Sometimes it's just a case of "over-engineering". Overcomplicating a feature to gain a minimal return (and be cool).

Looking at your first pick on the video; I've owned a GM SUV for a dew years now and it has been more expensive to maintain and annoying to work on than any of the the European cars I've owned. Build quality, handling and reliability are absolute garbage. Trading it in for a Mercedes in a few months. It'll cost me less to maintain 🤣
