I've got loads of the DIY AFR to use up and then I'll head back to 2 part on my LPS tank. The basic principle of single part dosing like this will always be flawed. They only work as long as your tank follows the perfect uptake of each element. For example, to keep my LPS tank at 8.5dkh, my calcium is close to 500 and creeping up. I've also seen a couple ICP tests after long term use and things are all jacked up. I'd recommend regular water changes with AFR to try and keep some balance. In the end, 2 part with part C and individual trace elements is the way to go for ultimate stability.

Most calcium reactor users will also add in a magnesium supplement like ZEOmag. From there, you've got your calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium dosing covered. Anything beyond that (like trace elements) will depend on other factors like water change volume and frequency.

So I read on Tropic Marine website and it says to use 900ml of RODI water with 6 level scoops of the All4Reef powder, however you mentioned 1000ml (1 liter) instead. Just wanted to make sure it’s 900ml and NOT 1000ml (1 liter). As always all the videos that you all at BRS put together are awesome and absolutely helpful. Thank you 🙏 for all that you guys do at TEAM BRS..

@BulkReefSupply 2 жыл бұрын
Hey @fellowreefer, good catch! I'll have the team update our mixing instructions to match Tropic Marin's instructions. That said, using 1000ml won't be an issue and may actually make it easier to dissolve the powder. It'll only reduce the potency of the solution very slightly by using 100ml more RODI.

I wish you would re stock the regular Carbo calcium power, I loved it. I had to switch to all-for-reef out of necessity, which is not really a bad thing and i could always shop else where if i really wanted it but now i have to keep some liquid carbocalcium on hand for those random KH drops. Aside from that I do like the all-for-reef.

Wouldn't you need to add the all for reef to a salt that is very low in mag/alk/cal? If you use it to top off the corals usage, then unless your tank uses all the elements concurrently, then it would make one element or two go way high to dose the lower element right?
@BulkReefSupply
@BulkReefSupply 2 жыл бұрын
It could over time, but in general, reef tanks use up these elements in a pretty constant ratio. Of course, you'll want to test to make sure that nothing is getting out of whack, but testing goes along with any dosing system

I would suggest having a little bit of two part on hand to make these adjustments occasionally. I would suggest dosing All For Reef based on your tank's alkalinity level. That said, not being able to adjust your calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium separately is one downside of an all-in-one type product like this. If you want to continue using All For Reef, I would suggest a few larger water changes to help bring everything back into line before resuming your dosing.
