You can emulate a gamecube without any issues with the UWP port of the dolphin emulator but that requires that the xbox is in dev mode which only works when online. if you loose connection the xbox would restart itself to retail mode and you are risking a 15 day ban because microsoft doesnt allow emulators in retail mode.

Hey Dallas, I think I know what kind of malware that is. That is a worm, which is kinda like a virus but you don't have to download an executable (.exe) for you to be infected. A worm can also use infected devices to reach more devices (like what we just saw with Jack) and it can steal all the data on that device. This might be kinda like an IP logger but with emails instead of url shorteners. Hope this helps Edit: This is more likely just a hoax (like alot of things on the internet) since email sites don't allow JavaScript so it would be very hard or even impossible to run something like this. And this comment is for Dallas since I was frustrated every time he referred to this as a virus

If you think this is not possible, you are wrong. This is indeed very possible since there is an Gamecube emulator for the xbox, which requires the device to be in dev mode which requires to be online all the time and restarts to retail mode again if the internet connection drops. Everything else stated also completely makes sense, since professional malicious hacker teams would exactly do what happened here. There is a clear reasoning behind all of this from the attackers perspective. I am sure they made a lot of money and were never catched. A tracking pixel in the mail and a working 0-day Remote Code Execution(RCE) vulnerability and an attacker can run code on your device. This is nothing new, RCE vulnerabilities exist since networks were introduced to the world. The issue is finding one, because they are not that common, and develop software as stable as possible which can exploit it. Vulnerabilities for windows most likely also works on xbox because the codebase is almost the same except for the launcher/desktop and a few xbox specific things. Internet connection, especially sattelite connections are easy to jam with a cheap jammer for the used frequency. My claims are also backed by the fact that there was an RCE vulnerability (CVE-2021-34535) around that time in the RDP which affects windows as well as xbox devices. Since the vulnerability was hard to exploit (crashed often according to the security researchers), it made sense to test it with a low risk target first to see how their solution to implement the vulnerability behaves in the wild. A 0-day-RCE vulnerbility cost up to multiple millions depending on its reliability and how hard it is to patch. Just because the video made by Dallas using stock footage and the self created footage showed gmails webmail, that doesnt mean that they were not using a mailclient in the company. Despite that, tracking pixels work on mailclients as well as on webmail because they are stored on the attackers Command&Control(C&C) server and the browser loads them form the C&C server, exposing your IP to the attacker. For the bluescreen and broken devices in the company: they download all company data, erase the devices and apply a malicous UEFI ROM which overvolts the cpu heavily. They most likely used a custom UEFI ROM + flash tool which doesn't check for compatibily of the ROM. As soon as the UEFI ROM was flashed, certain functions windows requires seized to function -> Bluescreen. As soon as the devices powered on, they power on with heavily overvolted CPU frying it instantly in the process. Most companies also would never report this to the public and almost always report it to the vendor and they also let you sign an NDA in such cases. This is the reason why in the company i am working at, production employees cant recieve/send emails from/to outside the company and can only send emails to their teamleader which would've greatly reduced the affected devices. The whole process (except the jamming of the internet connection) can also be completely automated. The dude breaking in was most likely some junky who was ordered by the attacker to place the jammer and got paid for that. He might have hidden or retrieved the jammer inside the House during the burglary.

I like the series, but people seem to be taking this waaaay to seriously. You definitely shouldn't go opening random stuff or clicking on shady links, but what is described in this video is completely fictional. First, Google and Apple heavily restrict what can be rendered or executed in their mail applications, including blocking scripts and pretty much every attack vector possible. For the people saying they could of used a tracking pixel: yes, they could have, but it would only give an approximate location (usually down to the town or city), some basic information about the device, and that's about it. In fact, I know it definitely wasn't a tracking pixel because both Gmail and Apple Mail proxy all remote assets to prevent this kind of behavior. Second, the story doesn't really make that much sense. Think about it: what would someone possibly gain in this situation? A chance to go to prison? There are way easier and more effective ways of scaring the crap out of someone. Third, with their internet going out, yes, it could definitely happen if someone had your IP address. It's scary easy to pull off a DDoS attack, but it also gets expensive FAST. Nowadays, most ISPs mitigate DDoS attacks themselves after a bit of time, so it's also unfeasible in this situations. Could it of been a zero day? Yes, but it's highly unlikely. If this was a real zero day, it wouldn't be used for weird stuff like this, it would either be sold or abused the crap out off for financial gain. It would most definitely be used to hack some giant companies then ransom them for millions, not scare a couple people for a bit of fun. ^^ To anyone who's going to give me hate for writing this, don't waste your time. I like watching these kinds of videos, just like how I enjoy watching Nexpo. It's a bit of fun, even though there's a chance it's probably in some way fictional (or in this case, most definitely fictional). In some ways, it's good that this kind of fear mongering exists, because it makes people who don't know any better not click on random links. Remember that anyone can submit something to KZfaq Unsolved, and that it's probably not that hard to "prove" a claim, given enough time. So could it be real? Of course, nothing is impossible, but there's a VERY high chance it's made up by someone. There being two or more people who claim it happened doesn't mean anything, someone can just submit the same story twice with changes along the way. EDIT: oh something i forgot: for the gmail web app, not only would you need to exploit something in gmail's code, you'd also need to find exploits to: - compromise the browser's rendering process, - escape the sandbox that renderer process is in, and - completely hijack the OS in such a way to ring zero alarm bells whatsoever (very hard on literally anything made by Apple). yeaaaaaah that's not happening.

I would love to inspect the mail in a Cut Off Environment to analyze the email header, this way you can trace the way the email has been sent. The 2nd person probably just got their account hacked because normally you don't get randomly logged out from your Email account. This must have been some kind of fishing and then sending a Infected mail to your collegues. I would love to look into this topic but there is no way to get your hands on the Email that was send. But I need to say a really great video! have a good one :D

Both stories are just that. Probably someone saw the 1st story and end up, creating another. The 2nd story has more non-sense and bad research in police procedures than Attaway Hospital have in how a hospital and medicine works. Some major details gave me red flags. One: Police can't know if objects has been stolen or moved in a person's house that they aren't familiar with it, they will not tell you: "your house has been broken but nothing was missing and just look like someone move some things, but is all good". How they would know you aren't missing money or jewelry? How they would know if you have a hide out place with valuables that are missing or not? How they can tell the messy was not there prior to the brake in? Or what objects you have and what was the position of those objects in the house? if they were not there before in a methodic way taking detail notes, they can't be certain of what was there or not. For a police to conclude that, they will need a statement either of a witness who saw it or have the owner inspect the premises and make a brief inventory with a police scort to say if and what has been stolen or moved. Second: When someone is stopped in a police barrier, often the info that is passed on is vague or even none to avoid especulation or to give details to a possible perpetrator, and is more likely an officer will ask you questions (not the other way around) to determine if you possible are the victm or a person of interest. The chances for you to stop in front of a police barrier and asked what is going on and the officer tells you a house was broken in and than give you the full address is very little because can cost his job. They probably will tell you a possible crime has been committed, and tell you at this time they can't coment without a further investigation , or they will say is police business and ask if you live in this area, and your address, and if the address is the one that is a possible crime scene, than is when the office will pull you aside and say some info disclosure to you as such: we got a call about your address apparently has been being broken to. Third: Police doesn't pay for hotels or accomodations, (save from few exceptions) through out an investigation, and in this case where was not a major crime or even a crime was committed and the life of the resident was in immediately danger, as far the police knows, a random person entered and has not stolen nothing, it could be a robber or just a drunk dude that thought was his home and broke the windows because his key didn't work, so the "victm" would be advise to sleep with a friend or a family member. And my question is: why someone would brake the front door that is visisble by any number of folks, when he/she already broke the back window granting access to the house in a less visible manner? And why if the person was already entered through the front door 1st, why the necessity to break the back window? Why a individual would risk to be caught by forcefully entered a residence and not steal and to just (apparently) be looking for something that end up not there? Don't you think that would make the police suspect the "victm" is not really being thrutful and is hidden something and not just let it go so fast? Cops possible would think that something illegal and very important the dude is involved with to have someone to break in and be shifting things like if they were looking for something. Jack would have his life investigated inside and out by the cops just to make sure he is not a cyber terrorist-spy selling important info on a dark web market and is just using a disguise of computer illiterate Jack who loves to watch KZfaq funny cat videos. . The 1st story also has plenty of non-sense but if I comment this will be much longer than already is. Edit: I just want to make sure that I can't comment if a malware as such in this 2 cases exist because when it comes to computer programming, software etc I'm a cave woman. I'm just commenting on the other aspects of the stories( actually just the 2nd one) like what was a possible motives and many of the non-sense plot holes (in my opinion)

The virus itself is absolutely doable (no download needed, forward itself to contacts via email, send personal data to a hacker and brick a system or even router) but the first story sounds a bit fishy, like some crazed stalker specifically targeting him. Still plausible, but unlikely. The second story absolutely sounds like bs and I posted my own, much shorter comment with my reasoning. But you added some really good points I hadn't considered as well.
