Former Burger King employee here. I can confirm that the whole Peril Holdings thing is legit owned by BK Corp. It was my least favorite part of the job, having to stalk people until they learned the true value of fear. The only thing worse than the actual stalking was all the the training videos. Yawn! Maybe if you're into slowly-building terror and inflicting extreme psychological damage, but if you work at BK, I bet you're beyond jaded well before filling out the application. But I digress. If Dan's old roommate had been a bit more observant, I'm positive he would have spotted one of our employees dressed as The Burger King (the creepy mascot both BK and PH use for their respective purposes) peeking in a window, creeping around a corner, or staring at him from across the street. Even Dan probably had a few good chances to spot "The King of Creep" (as I like to call him). Fewer than the ex-roomie considering the address mix-up. However, if Dan had had been more adventurous, he would have nonetheless had a true Peril Holdings experience, finding The King in his crawlspace illuminated by the wavering glow of a BBQ lighter. I admit, the whole lighter in the crawlspace thing is just supposed to be an example of what you can do from the training vids, so whoever was stalking Dan wasn't exactly imaginative. So that could be a part of Dan's overall lackluster experience. Mostly though, I think the roomie just wasn't seeing (especially since he didn't even know creepy stuff was building up). When I quit BK, Peril Holdings was still going strong. I have no idea if the companies fully split, the PH portion being bought out or dissolved or what. For all of you had a "good" PH experience, "Thanks for choosing the Crown over the Clown!" If you know you know.
