Yes those flowers are lotus , the national flower of Vietnam . It's also the symbol of Buddhism . Unfortunately you didn't come here during the lotus season (June-July-August) to watch that pond covered with beautiful pink and white flowers .

Lily pad leaves usually float on the surface of water, while lotus leaves rise above water level, that's how you recognize the two.
