My wife never liked Furret as a kid because she read the Pokédex entry and saw that it was almost 6 feet tall which is way too big for a ferret, in her opinion. Thankfully I never had a strong opinion on furret either way so this never proved a serious obstacle for our courtship.

I think about it like a speedrun. They just manip trivial rng things like hm users and catching them like they catch Raiku in the world record. I think it’s admirable to pretend that you are preserving the game by keeping early encounters and random hm users in the game but when you literally have software that gives you every stat and move on top of having software to give precise experience ranges, it seems a little silly wouldn’t you agree lol.

Yea Rollout is a cheat code, especially if you get defense curl. Amnesia was just the chef's kiss on top of it. Its easily one of, if not, THE best damage moves in the game.

My first ever shiny as a kid in silver was sentret. That was the coolest experience ever because i didnt even know what the sparkles and color really meant until i got to the red gyarados later in the game and was like ohhhh. That furret went with me all through johto and kanto. Coolest memory i have from my childhood pokemon experience

Growing up, I never had much respect for furret outside of it being a cool ferret design. However, a few years ago, I did a casual nuzlocke run of crystal and Furret really became the main character of that run until I got into a pp stall battle against Morty. After that, I have the utmost respect for Furret as a nuzlocke mon.

Yea, there's math behind it and a nice little 0-100 number that lets you easily see how it felt to play. But yea, things were hectic trying to figure out how to get a video out weekly and its just not happening lmao.

Yea, the gen 2 original form is a little weird to me. They designed to be like wearing a mask and I'm glad they changed it in later gens because its perfect now but that learnset is so deep its cool to see it leverage it to a top spot.

Furret is my favorite 1st route rodent. I shiny hunted one in Soul Silver, named her FLEX% and taught here the elemental punches/hyper beam. She's awful in battle and I love her.

Yea, it was as bare bones as it really gets. It also used up all the pre-Kanto time gathering stuff, getting Defense Curl, and using all the candies so it was slightly bloated but great result!

Gen 2 is really great for normal types ,and Furret is another great reminder for that. 🤔 I really liked the smart usage of fury cutter and dig in the early to mid game, which kind of made Furret do less optional battles in general. 😮 Catching the Red Gyarados is fun and faster, and it can learn most of the Hms, so it can save up time for Pokemon who'd perfer to delay Chuck as much as possible.😊 Having surf on its moveset was really surprising, because as a water move it had a lot of impact on Major battles in late game, like Blaine and Brock. 😮 All of these tiny details made Furret a top run . Furret's run is basically what onter normal types would like to be like, which I find amazing.😮 The tier cards seems fair to me. Poor Forretress has it's own tier of legendary (bad) pokemon.😂😂😂

Yea, if something is equipping quick claw and relying on it for Red, they are in trouble, haha. I didn't use surf that long in the original routing but the Kanto split felt so bad with just Rollout so holding off on Defense Curl and using it to speed it up gave it the fastest Kanto split ever. Its really cool it didn't have to get anymore rare candies after burning them all for the Elite 4 and to make Red look trivial at level 67 was really cool to see. It's a weird Pokemon to get a feel for but I was really happy when the results came out. What a cool Pokemon, lol. It learns everything.

Its just unique with Amnesia, Defense Curl and Rollout. Maybe something can do that without Amnesia but I'm not sure. Its just the level it can do things at that I don't think can be replicated but I'll certainly try! I'll prob take a break from Crystal. This run was refreshing but before that things were starting to feel 'samey' and I want to do something cool like another mega, then debut gen 3 stuff and just do whatever for a bit lol.

I did this recently while drunk, and I recorded the whole run uncut to show every decision I made while drunk lol. Took me 1 1/2 hours with speedup and rare candies to cut out grinding. 😁😁😁 Always nice to see others do the same run and see how they do it. 😊😊😊 I didn't watch the whole video I made, I think I only used rare candies at two points.

Rollout/Defense Curl is top tier! 45 base special just never helped me with the punches anywhere.

@@GymLeaderMatt1987 true, it was only fire punch for Jasmine's Steelix (sunny day not helping her there) and thunder punch for Lance's Gyarados. Return was more than enough for the three Dragonite, I really didn't need ice punch there, even if it would have ko'ed with a x4 weakness

Stab return is always too good to pass up. The optimisations are great when it comes to hidden power (i also wonder if your perfect DVs helped with any ranges)

Yea, return in general is almost always too good to pass up. I think foregoing HP for perfect DVs didn't do a ton for ranges but the defenses helped in early close fights like Rival 2 or Morty. Just a bit.

All things are possible through the power of fury cutter, so just jot that down. It’s actually capped at 160 base power, not 180 but that’s still stronger than a neutral stab return. You’re probably factoring in the type badge boost though. I’ve been trying to talk Scott into its merits, especially on bug types it hits like a math problem.

Yea, since you get it from Bugsy the effective power always gets that 12.5% boost. That's where the 180 comes from. Its a good time saving move since grinding early in gen 2 is a huge time sink.

@@GymLeaderMatt1987Makes sense, it’s convenient you get those at the same time. Really useful for wall breaking and solving problems, sort of like rollout but a lot more consistent. Also kinda hilarious how good furret is, it’s extremely Gen 2. And now it has rat dragon dance in Gen 9

Rat dance is my favorite lmao. But rollout is the MVP for sure, Fury Cutter just bridges that gap. Its a shame that solo running is so niche and there's no uniform way to do it. For example, behind the scenes we already got close to sub hour Emerald runs and I think with the right Pokemon I could get to like 2h 45m in game time with my rules but its sad that if you see someone get 1 1/2 hour times its top of the list atm lol.

True, everything with rollout can more or less solve any problem with a little bit of luck, and fury cutter is more for utility, unless you’re one of the decent bug types that lacks other options. The damage output on sharpness kleavor is comical. Seriously though, that’s a great emerald time but we’re stuck with official speed running being exactly the same Mudkip into Ray pathing over and over again forever. Solo running needs some kind of community agreed upon set up that’s comparable. Yeah it’s arbitrary but so are the rules of mainline speed running or you could just trade in a Pokémon in any other game, or HM knowing Pokémon in gen 1, or blitz to suicune in Gen 8.

@@GymLeaderMatt1987 Rollout is the dumbest move in Gen 2. Let’s play stupid damage for a minute, everyone complains about return being to strong, 114 bp with friendship and Whitney’s badge, 172 with STAB, 189 with pink bow. Pretty good, only rock and steel resist it, ghost is immune so it’s not perfect, no mons in the first 2 gens 4x resist. Stab fury cutter with bugsy’s badge and a silver powder, which is a pain to get, maxs out at 297 bp on turn 5+, but a lot of things resist bug and it’s 95% accurate. Defense curl+rollout on the 5th turn is base 960, toss on stab, Brock’s badge and a hard stone and it caps at 1782, with exactly one Pokémon 4x resisting rock, which is steelix. It’s just silly, you just have to get slightly lucky with accuracy.

The exp bar in your overlay goes backwards when you level up, rather than "filling", resetting and filling the rest of the way. In case you care!

"You can't run from a shiny if it's faster than you" So... Not really. If any mon is faster than yours, there's a chance you can't run, that's true. The shiny Gyarados specifically has a condition applied to its battle where you can NEVER run from it. Just so players didn't whiff their likely only Shiny by accident, I guess haha

I have not but the only question to do great against Lance is if you are fighting or poison type and can you survive Gary/Aerodactyl.
