My wife once told me she thought I was smart but that I just have lots of tools. I told her I had to be smart enough to know there was a tool for a job and smart enough to buy it and use it. That didn’t impress her.

“Hello, my name is Oscocat, and I’m a tool addict.” *everyone in unison* “Hi Oscocat.” “I’m a tool addict. I first realized this when I would stay up late at night watching tool reviews and making purchases for tools I’d likely never need. But because I can’t say for sure I’d never need them, I bought them. The odds are slim to none I’ll ever do my own engine rebuild. But did that stop me from buying a cylinder honing kit? No, because I am a tool addict and I need help.”

Another great vid Matt. I remember commenting years ago on another one you did where I pointed out you had absolutely no links of any kind, and that those are the tool reviews one can trust. I will now have to purchase an induction heat gun, which I'll be blaming entirely on you, despite your warnings.

I really enjoyed this video because these are tools that you use. They work for you and they are not snap on, matco, mack or cornwell which are excellent tools. I just can't justify the cost as a diyer. Since they work for you they should work for me. I have a few of these tools and would like to get the rest. Everyone of them is very practical. I've added the electrical disconnect pliers, Xewea screw extractors, and Allturn plastic welder to my "save for later" items on Amazon. I already had the hose remover pliers on my list. Maybe for Father's Day. Thanks so much. Yes, I would like to see more of the tools you use and find very useful.

I'm actually pretty happy with my short milewaukee ratchet, I had intended on buying the long reach but my local stores didn't have one in stock and I ended up getting a free cp 2.5 battery with the short version. I repair instrument clusters for a living and the long reach wouldn't be able to fit inside the dash like my short one barely can. I also haven't ran into any situations yet where I wished I had the long reach version. I'm sure there's definitely situations for it but the short ratchet is doing well for me

@@SchrodingersBox You may have ran across this before, don’t know, just thought I would pass it along as You do for us. On the mid 2k VW 2.0 T’s, get the random cylinder misfire and lean codes, and I found that the misfires were only at idle (of course vacuum related) ! Found a couple leaks with the smoker, but the most telling was the smoke coming out of that little vent port on the right side of that crankcase valve on the top right of the valve cover. Bad diaphragm. You can get just the diaphragm kit from O Reilly’s for 40$! Just thought I would share this. Thanks Matt, Autoline smoker is great!👍👍🇺🇸

I’m strictly a home hobbyist buuttt 1. Don’t need it…. Yet 2. I may need in the future. 3. Unsure about that one. Maybe future? A bit leery of Gearwrench at times. Some stuff is great. Other stuff… not so much. 4. On my list. Already have a set of pass through 1/4” 5. Ordered a set of Snap On low profile metric this morning 6. Already have the 12v Milwaukee long 3/8 7. The stud cleaner might be useful. I’ll add this to the list. 8. Bought the big Icon kit a couple weeke ago… open box missing the smallest one… and it was half off the open box price. 9. Ok now THAT is interesting. On my list now. Could have used that plenty of times. 10. Yeah I need to add that to the next Amazon order 11. Already have Harbor Freight and Milwaukee picks 12. Yeah, I’ve been meaning to get the connector pliers 13. Already own a few pairs of Knipex. 14. Have a couple of the magnetic sockets 15. I just recently bought the tub o towels or whatever it is.

@@SchrodingersBox I do not own ANY Snap-on either, I just don't see myself ever paying that much money for a tool. I am dealing with an issue right now with a stripped/rounded rear caliper bolt on a 2007 Mazda 6. Not sure if you have ever worked on one of those but there is ZERO room in the rear of this car to get any leverage. I am stuck to be honest and not sure what to do. I tried the extractor sets and I can't hammer it on because of the lack of room. I will keep trying though. Thanks for the response.

Oh man I totally prefer this over the torch. First, way faster setup. Second, no consumables- never runs out of gas! 3rd, I don't have to worry about flame damaging anything. Sometimes the torch is the only option though- as you see this tool is not exactly the smallest thing so you can't always reach in tight places. Also the bolts need to be a magnetic material for the induction- not all fasteners are.

The best socket holders by far is Westling USA socket holders. Once you discover, you'll see why. I live in Australia and got them shipped from USA. Well worth it. These aluminium machined socket sets come in various sizes, lengths, both metric and for those that are still living in the dark ages imperial, as well as colours. They have the size of the socket on the base of the socket holder, so you can actually see what size socket is which. Have a look, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for sharing! I don't particularly love my "rails" but they are tremendously space saving and that's the main reason I use them. I also like just being able to take the whole rail to my worksite and have all my sockets there- looks like the Westlings are good for that too.

People these days think making money is a sin but it is fine, in my opinion. Right now, we have to look up each item and I'm not sure if I'm finding the same one you're recommending. If people get mad and give you shit I don't mind you showing this message in your videos so they can shut up.

Yes I have seen it. Harbor Freight has some great stuff for sure- but also a lot of horrifically terrible stuff that won't last a day. I have a few Pittsburgh hand tools that are good and I have a floor jack from them thats easily my best floor jack by far and it's over 8 years old!

The inductive tool is safer than a torch. Says the guy that used brake clean to cool his staple iron....

How is it dangerous using brake clean to cool a staple- please explain.

It surely is safer than torch, also if you don't have open flame how that brake cleaner will ignite?
@SchrodingersBox
@SchrodingersBox Күн бұрын
Correct!! I think they were more referring to concern of fumes from the brake cleaner on hot surface. But still- as if a hot paper clip that cools below room temp in .25 seconds is going to generate any detectable level of phopshene.

Isn't brake cleaner dangerous when heated (Phosgene)?
@SchrodingersBox
@SchrodingersBox 17 күн бұрын
Yes but this is just for a quick second cooling a wafer thin staple down. its instant chill. No ignition no fumes. I wouldn't use it on a hot rotor or something.

golly............. ..... i wish for........... ........... more videos ....... ................... just like ................ .... .... ... T H I S .... .... I'd seen the inductive bolt heater before and wondered why more people aren't using it. Easy-outs and the like are required to have on hand... Don't wait until you're 'up a creek' to buy yours. Do it now so's you can bargain shop; i.e. Amazon or Harbor 20% off coupons. What I'd also like is a video to show me how to arrange my tool boxes... The PLASTIC welder looks like a life saver! If ever you revise your intro I'd be tickled to have the screaming "S. Box" kitty removed.
