First time I entered this level my first words were 'holy shit!'

that arachnotron(500hp) died in few seconds... astonishing how much spidermastermind can deal damage in such a short time...

Damn. That mastermind chewed you up. I had no idea it could do so much damage so quickly. Kudos for not dying and overcoming.

I used to just run through those first two rooms and thus completely miss the berserker and the computer map. However thanks to you, I now know they exist

I just played this level, and in the area with the Arachnotrons and the Mastermind, I hopped out of the cave and triggered infighting, which started with the Mastermind firing on an Arachnotron, then the Arachnotron turning around and attacking the Mastermind while it was stuck trying to move between it and another Arachnotron, so never fired back. That’s right, I defeated a Mastermind with a single Arachnotron. God I love this game sometimes.

Ouch! That near-death experience with the Spider Mastermind really put me on the edge of my seat! Man, they really love playing with barrels and using them to nearly kill you! But the enemies kill themselves in the process...... So not looking forward to The Chasm........

I like how two of the Hell Knights didn't even wake up :-D They're like "Well, there's a giant barrel explosion around us but we don't care" :-D Yeah, you can get the Mastermind to infight, just don't come too close to her.

I've watched your channel ever since I started playing doom 10 or so years ago. Your walkthroughs helped me through my first playthroughs and helped me stay with the game. I am probably on my 25th playthrough of doom 2 now but I was having trouble with barrels of fun so I came to your walkthrough and it helped me finish the level. Thanks so much bigmac!

For the first time in all the walkthoughts i viewed from you i saw you having a really close call with that mastermind but as usual you didn't panic and ended the map with 200% health and armor, which is as you know a good thing because the next map is a nightmare in many ways lol Good video and very good recovery at the end :D See ya for your next video :)

i remember playing this the first time, and it's the first level that genuinely scared me, because i would try and run really fast past the barrels while the enemies were blowing them up and it just seemed so intense

Haha, nice reference on the beginning. I think you could have mentioned the soundtrack origin at the end, but that's okay. Now, that Arch-Vile and the Ms. Mastermind did a lot of trouble, more than you expected, isn't it? Well, don't worry. What happened is what I call "recording curse". Everything goes fine while you're not recording, but the "curse" comes when you start to record, lol. Now the next map... I just can wish good luck to you. =)

Fun map, always enjoyed it to a degree. It can frustrate.. Growing up, I never ventured onto Ultra violence so these past few weeks have taught me more about spider masterminds and archviles and what have you

I'd rather play the entirety of Plutonia on ultra-violence than play this stinkin' level ever again. You definitely have more patience than I do good sir!

You know this map is challenging considering that's the first near death experience you've had, which isn't bad since you breezed through the first 22 maps without a hitch....I think what saved your life was the armor no doubt....

Barrels o' Fun? More like Barrels o' Death, IMO. Also, whoa! You nearly died twice in this video, the second when your health is down to nearly 10%! Even the dangerous "Bye Bye American Pie" plays in the background! Also, nice Alice in Chains reference! :)

At first I got that urge to throw Alice In Chains Facelift album on, but by the end of the level. The feeling passed. Lol Ja, I am old. I remember AOL pay by the minute back in mid 90s, and having to read my game guides. Saving text files and/or printing those out to be able to read at any time. Needless to say I like your videos!

This is my favourite doom video dude. I love this level as it is a good challenge and weirdly I like how you almost died a few times as it shows just how unforgiving the level can be if you don't be careful.

This level sucked ass because I died and accidentally autosaved it after I respawned so I had to go through it with just the pistol and shotgun to start, I died like 7 times🙄🙄 I legit moaned in happiness when you showed that secret with the megasphere, thank you my friend youre godsent

Funniest level of doom 2

Clever idea firing at the wall at the beginning of the map. Because it is real shitty dealing with the pain elementals and having the other demons fire at you from the other side. I bet you were scared shitless when the Spider Mastermind almost killed you huh? And I agree the last maps are tough. What are your thoughts on MAP:29 The Living End? I think it's fun and challenging, but it's tough and grueling as well.

I loved this level

Just finished this map and managed to get the spider mastermind to infight with the arachnotrons by running among them and then going back quickly to the alcove where the imps were, and it became much easier for me because they took such a good measure of health from the mastermind that one BFG shot was enough for me to kill him. But I agree this area this very tough and I remember dying several times in other tries. And those chaingunners in the three alcoves... oh my, I struggled to target them in a way I could fire and then I spent a lot of health (and died sometimes). Fun but hard map indeed.

As they teleport to the pain elementals I'm dead right now.😮😮😮😲😲😲Uffff, this is going to be a long time coming.🤔🤔🤔

It took me so long to realize the Pain Elemental room was above the starting room

One of my favs but yeah the arch viles, chainguners,revenants pinkies and pain elementals are placed in such a way that you cant afford to fuck around.

The ridiculous number of pain elementals with the barrels is possibly the roughest room in Doom II. Is it even possible to get past it without lots of plasma?

This map is really nice, but I totally HATE the room at 2:35 so much! That's my absolute hate moment in Doom II. By the way: Sometimes, the wall with those fucking Pain Elementals even opens if you are trying to kill the Imps and Hell Knights on the other side from from below. Your fight with the Spider Mastermind was very funny :D.

I'd like to see you try this level in Brutal Doom. The barrels are a LOT less fun. Or more fun if you like the added challenge of them having a much bigger blast radius.

Oooh boy! What to say about this map. It can be pretty fun but it's certainly tough. Nearly had a heart attack at the sight of the Spider Mastermind. Thank God it wasn't a Cyberdemon.

You should use the chaingun on Lost Souls. It would of been useful in the room with the pain elementals.

I know is a little late to comment. Good work and nice memmories. I don't understand what happened to you with that spider mastermind and the arachnotrons. I've always use the same strategy as you, to make them fight one against the others. I guess you had bad luck. But that's prcesiley one of the many excellent things with Doom, nobody got a perfectly secure way to pass through it. No matter haow many times did you play it, you still can die

I like this map for its Challenge , it’s hard but not unfair. Plus , I like this music track, it goes perfectly with this map.

I always laugh a lot when you're pissed off hhahaha But in my opinion, this map is kinda confuse. Specially on that big area with the blood lake and the teleport. Hey, Big Mac, I'm a huge fan of your walkthroughs. I always watch your videos. Can you give me a "yay!" in some of them? :D

8:29- Ok maybe trying to get the Spider Mastermind and the Arachnotrons to in-fight with each other wasn't such a good idea after all.

With a bit of panic I managed to weaken Spider Mastermind using smaller spiders. Also I loaded a save before entering the last "barrel run" a few times, because chaingunners didn't want to shoot at them and I didn't want to waste ammo. Overall I like this map. I didn't like it partially before, because I thought that this map will drain my health and ammo, but with mega charge as a reward for all those struggles I changed my mind to liking this map. And the next map is the one I watched speedruns of a few times and thought "This will be irritating and boring to play as a casual player".

Your quite the professional aren't you? If there ever was a Doom university, you'd be a lecturer there I'm sure!

I like this map as well. I hate the chaingunner archvile area the most, as the chaingunners can snipe you off really badly even when you are far away, like a sniper rifle. I didn't think of clearing out the forst wall that way, cool. This map is cool, fun, and difficult. Way to go BMD.
