Thanks for playing my submitted map. I specifically chose this map because it's the one map I always dread of whenever I come back to this wad and was curious how You'll handle it. This is a pretty insane map considering the sheer size and a big monster counter (close to 2000 as you said) but it's very much doable. I picked a good dose of adrenaline for ye and you're welcome for that, glad you enjoyed it. Hope you'll do a whole PT of this cuz it's a one amazing mapset full of insanely detailed maps.

Hellbound is a big beast of a wad with huge complex and detailed maps that fitting every given theme very well. This map here is the cherry on the ice cream. Great fighting areas under one of the if not the most beautiful skyboxes I've ever seen in doom. Thanks for your awesome performance decino and shake... ah relax a little bit after this hellish slugathon. You deserve it really. Have a nice sunday and take care. 👍👊🤘❤

Your gameplay makes me relax. Very satisfying to see how virtuously you deal with hordes of enemies. I also like your voice and comments. It seems that hell is playing on Ultra-Violence dificulty not you.

In my place it is 23:34. I'm sitting home, watching this videos with a can of would be German beer and resting after a first day of my working shift. It was 30 celsius in a middle of day, so relaxation is great. And I'm watching you fighting meatballs and tomatos. Next moment I look at can and see an inscription "Bayerisch Hell". Let's hope that this beer was made in Bavaria, and word "Hell" in German is not the same thing as it is in English. I don't want to end up among pain elementals just for drinking the beverages. BTW beer tastes great. Just what I needed all these time: a sip of good one and some demon slaying. Kinda makes me forget about any insignificant things and worries.

Yeah, I see product of inspiration from Chaos Sanctuary and Serios Sam too in this map. Tried to imagine all Revenants are Kleer in this run :)

Ah yes, the Lagscension... Had to switch to different port, because my potato laptop could not handle it. I always loved Hellbound, because it has that nice aesthetic of Heck-infested world and awesome looking (though sometimes quite tedious) Heck levels.

This map reminds me of "The Hag's Finger" in the way that you slowly fight your way up and around the map.

I just had to start watching these viewer submissions again and I just had a interesting thought so if you ended up having a spoky skeleton missile orbit you in a way you could use that to defend yourself from pinkys getting to close however it would mean you would have to stay still which thinking about it wouldn't really be a good idea when you have 2000 demon's to fight

09:05 was like "get out of the way, Caco, I gotta grab this medikit" haha 32:24 my heart almost stopped there for a moment The music is great! To me, this kind of sad and hopeless music really fits Doom. It reminds me of E4M1 for example, where sometimes the player can feel hopeless too ^^

I'm currently playing through this using Brutal Doom v21 and I'm dreading the day I get to this map... I know v21 isn't for everyone, it just somehow works very well for this mod specifically. It makes the action more intense and fun while still allowing you to appreciate the incredible map design.

Nice design map it was entertaining watching your playthrough. You really have a adrenaline rush in this map, in difficulty is high but i think this maps lacks some variety in how monsters spawn and about the big space that you have to move around (i know that this is based on serious sam maps cathedral from second encounter, the great corridor big map) I think it will be more challenge this map if some spawn where behind or to your left or right side between each corridor like this, the first and second corridor normally from one side then start to do this to surprise the player and avoid the same strategy aproaching on every fight except maybe that last fight and when there where that cyberdemons telefrags and something like i says happen to you in that part with revenant and archvile that make the map a little more interesting in 31:15. But still without that it is very entertaining and is good for enter in some slaughter maps. @decino i wanted to comment in your first presentation video but i dont see it anymore in youtube. I dont know if you eliminate it or maybe is a bug from youtube.

Hellbound is a rather wonderful wad, some of the early level design is very classy. It could be a cool next play through project after Ancient Aliens (if you were planning on that next?) Either way; great video dude!

Hellbound is notable for using exclusively textures available in Doom 2 (not sure about Doom 1, some of those weren't in 2), and definitely being one of the prettiest wads of all time that use only the stock textures

i remember this map, i played through Hellbound with Aeons of Death and honestly loved the WAD (which is saying something cause when i have to play through repeatedly large maps i get bored quickly cause they usually involve switch hunting and running half way around the map to do things) i got to his level and my game froze right when i saved...lost all my progress (admittedly my computer isn't that powerful, it can handle somethings but this was too much)

Gameplay flow of this map greatly reminds me of Gauntlet, old top down arcade game.

I don't know if you're taking notes but when you get to my submission, I tried to send some info in an e-mail and it got bounced (this was right after I got the confirmation that it was accepted). So I hope this gets mentioned when you get to mine. "It's my first published map but not the first map I've ever made. The rules for the project were to make a map using only vanilla textures and be Boom-compatible. Some of the ideas I had for parts of this map have been in my head for well over a decade and it was nice to finally put them to use. I liked the idea of a marble temple being taken and overrun by a living flesh cavern that opened up, it made sense to go with the ideas I had. The Zodiac symbols in the floor were inspired by the game Final Fantasy Tactics, another game I owe a lot of my child enjoyment to. This map changed how I do mapping, completely, as I realized just how much I love doing complex or detailed lighting. I wanted to put even more monsters throughout some of the map but I simply ran out of time. After all, I'm not the fastest mapper and this took over 80 hours of work for me. Maybe I'll revisit this idea sometime in the future and expand on it without time constraints."

This map looks like it was made to use a fog definition. It would probably look really nice with some dark, gray-brown fog. What an adventure. Quite a map. Also, Arachnotron deserves a trophy for being the ultimate team killer in the Decino universe. What a jerk.

In order to have some kind of fog in GLBoom+ you should change the setting called "Sector Light Mode" or similar. Both Fog Based and Shaders look good, you should try them. I prefer Shaders, as Fog Based severly changes light in some rooms. It's not the same as the software mode but it's closer than the default setting.

Hm, i think when you play hellbound in the future, play all maps on ultra violence except this one, this needs to be fast monsters to avoid the boredom :p
