Riding Oregon BDR Route 3 and Motorcycle Camping at The Giant Loop Fall Campout

The only thing better than a motorcycle camping trip is a moto camping trip with awesome friends and awesome riding on an amazing route like Oregon BDR Route 3! This two night motocamping trip started with an evening of Africa Twin camping just outside of Bend, Oregon with my buddy Dan from Giant Loop. Later that evening, our friends Kris and Nathan from For the Love of Knobs ( / fortheloveofknobs ) arrived and we had an enjoyable evening of camping and beverages.
The next morning, we packed up and headed over to Giant Loop World Headquarters in Bend to meet up with Harold and the rest of the crew for the ride out to the 2021 Giant Loop Fall Campout at Crescent Lake. To get from Bend to Crescent Lake, we hopped on Oregon Back Country Discovery Route 3 and had an amazing ride through the Central Oregon wilderness on all gravel and dirt roads until we arrived at Crescent Lake.
Once there, we had an amazing time hanging out with the other motorcycle campers who came out to the event!

Yea, that's my backyard! Twin lakes, Wickiup reservoir, the gravel pit and Crescent Lake. Nice seeing those places from a different perspective.

What a cool event. Thanks for bringing us along. I consider my self an average rider and also detest sand. Being here in Arizona it’s hard to avoid sometimes. One thing I notice that after I ride thru a lengthy stretch going out my stress level on the return trip is much less and the same sand that had me puckering was much easier. Even if it’s the next day. I bet if you returned the same way as you went in you might have experienced the same thing. Keep the content coming

I'm thinking under 50k subs is a bit of a risk to be reliant in you tube for income. Mr Dork, what tires do you normally run on your Africa Twin, and how long do they normally last using them on/off road like that?

It came with mitas E07s on it. I swapped the front to a TKC 80 after the E07 got a hole in it. I liked the TKC front a lot better. No idea on total mileage but I put 4k on the rear E07 and it still looked good.

It's not an official BDR, but there is an Oregon BCDR put together by OOHVA

The more you ride behind other riders on great bad roads, the better rider you'll become. You don't have time to think about the obstacle, ...you only have enough time to get the GAS ON !!

I like your vids but no offence, too much hanging around and chatting and not enough riding. Also, the music is a show stopper for me. If you like to chat so much, I suggest do it over the riding. Music's killing all these great ADV vids.

As I explained in the intro, I had no sound during most of the riding footage because my GoPro messed up. I figured music was better than silence. As for the camp stuff, I make adventure videos and the camping is part of it. I totally understand that my style is not for everyone.
