I couldn’t quite tell from the audio when Rick was on the phone to his shattered mind but I seem to recall as he was talking to Lori her voice started breaking up like the phone line had static or something that was his mind slowly putting itself back together and when he slowly and deliberately hung up the receiver that was his mind fully taking control again and I feel like the phone calls were Rick’s way of saying goodbye to Lori Very well done scene.

That walker definitely ate Lori The Governor keeping his walker daughter alive is one of the most insane things I've seen on the show (until late s9 and s10). Andrew Lincoln never getting an Emmy or even a nomination for one for his performance as Rick is a crime. That scene where he was talking to "Lori" on the phone was one of my favorites in the entire series. Rick lost it. After losing Lori, Carl having to put her down and everything else he's had to deal with and do as the leader, he finally broke. Savage Rick is the best version of him. He needed a father figure like Hershel and a right hand man like Daryl to bring him back to life. Michonne is such a fucking badass. She's so smart. Knew immediately the type of guy The Governor is. Andrea isn't as smart.

For some reason, that is not what i expected Anthony to look like without his beard 😅. What a cuuuuuutie!!!

Rick had to be strong for so many months keeping everyone safe we saw how he was hardened and bad ass keeping everything in He was the one keeping all the shit together being the one everyone looked to and relied on having everyone’s welfare on his shoulders Lori’s death (and just when it seemed they might reconcile and get back to a more normal relationship with some time back to more how it was) just made him lose it and everything caught up to him Everything he’s had to endure for the past however long it was getting shot being in a coma waking up to a hellish world looking for his family then finally finding them All the stuff he’s had to do is keep them safe his fall out with Shane and then having to kill his best friend and Carl having to put said friend down Then their other losses then finally Lori’s death finally broke him And his son having to put his own mother down and Rick wondering what this world is going to do to his son and how can he protect him from that and then having a new baby living in this world from the get go All he’s had to face is and all he’ll have to face just overwhelmed him like a tsunami and he collapsed under all that weight And he probably felt guilt as well that he hadn’t tried to reconcile things with Lori sooner and now it’s too late I can see how that would drive someone crazy. Great shot of Rick mowing through all those Walkers with the axe and then showing Michonne mowing through them with her katana.

Greg Nicotero: The idea is supposed to be that the Walker has sort of dragged her around the corner of that boiler room There’s actually a blood trail that continues past the Walker and goes around the corner. Some of the little touches we added was there was bits of hair in It’s mouth and hair in his hand when it reaches up towards Rick And it was just one of those things that we really wanted to show that this thing had feasted on her as horrible as it is. He went on to mention that they didn’t want seeing her eaten body to take away from the impact of her death in the previous episode.

Daryl is the ultimate Lieutenant It was during this time you started seeing t-shirts that said Mrs Daryl Dixon or If Daryl Dies We Riot I mean he was a badass before and a kind man Now he’s badass a kind man AND taking care of a baby I mean Gawd.

TWD Trivia: The writers were going to write Carol off the show before this episode Melissa McBride talked to the producer and writers and convinced them to keep Carol alive that there was a great opportunity for Carol’s character development They agreed and didn’t kill her off. This was a great episode Rick’s trip to Crazy town Daryl’s character development and backstory is getting a huge kickstart and Carol is saved by Daryl Merle is a very conflicted character He wants to be with his brother I think he is realizing the Governor doesn’t trust him and vice versa and Merle will do pretty much anything to get to Daryl I think Merle killed the kid Neil Gargulio because he said he was going to tell the Governor and as mentioned Merle doesn’t trust him much Great reactions Anthony And Hunter.

Poor gargulio got pressured by Merle he was innocent then the next moment he was a cold blooded killer

Fun Fact: In the book TWD:Rise of the Governor, the Governor is actually Brian Blake, the brother of Philip Blake. Penny was his niece and Brian was a coward for most of his life. Also, great guess by Anthony to guess those slashes in Governors journal were counting how many people he was feeding to Penny! In the book, he was definitely feeding Penny.
