There's supposedly another Pinocchio film coming out later this year! IMDB simply calls it Pinocchio (2022), but the posters for the film list two different titles, those being "Pinocchio & the Water of Life" & "The Adventures of Pinocchio". Whatever it's called, it's unrelated to this film, the Guillermo Del Toro version, & the Disney remake with Tom Hanks. In an odd coincidence, Tom Kenny will play Pinocchio in the "Water of Life". How the hell did we wind up with FOUR unrelated Pinocchio films in the same year!?

Definitely hyped for the Del Toro Pinnochio as I adored not only the Hellboy films but I adored the holy Hell out of Book of Life. That man mostly makes movie gold [Pacific Rim 2 was only hit or miss since he didn't direct that one]

As a Russian, I'm just wondering why this is a Pinocchio adaptation instead of a Buratino adaptation. (Buratino is sort of a Soviet version of Pinocchio. I'd like to the Wikipedia entry which summarizes al the similarities and differences, but those things tend to get caught in the spam filter) Edited to Add: Though I guess there are some elements from Buratino version. Like, there is a Malvina type character.

Okay, apparently this movie is a Russian bootleg of the original Pinocchio story called 'The Golden Key' that was censored for the Soviet Union at the time of publication. The plot points and many of the original lessons where changed or fully omitted from the story in order to fit with era which included Pinocchio's nose growing whenever he tells a lie and other things. There is no lessons about learning to mature, looking out for people who want to abuse/use you for their own gain, and so on. It's more that 'happy things will always happen and be happy'. On top of that, there is apparently TWO English dubs of this movie; a British dub and the one that everyone has been talking about. I don't know if the British dub is better since I have not heard it but the whole backstory of this thing is a clusterfuck. So yes, Korey. This IS propaganda but not in the way you expected it. Edit: Okay, you mentioned the British version. And yup....I don't know why it exists.

I had the Jonathan Taylor Thomas Pinocchio movie on VCR when I was a kid. It was freaky AF, but I loved it. Never even saw the animated Disney movie.
