I’m a total sugar addict. I’ve done my best to stop sugar, soft drinks, processed foods. I miss soft drinks the most. And watermelon 🍉. The best thing I have done was get a CGM continuous glucose monitor. I have gamified my sugar battle. I do not like to see my blood sugar go up. I’m trying to heal my insulin resistance and avoid diabetes. Sugar is pure evil.

I was the same way as you. I found, cut sugar and absolutely anything sweet cold turkey. Don’t even have any artificial sugar. After a few days it gets easier. I would say try a few months and then you could possibly have it here and there. I cut it out cold turkey and now I have days where I eat no sugar and on occasion I’ll have a bite of a dessert or something but only after I’ve had a meal, never on an empty stomach.

Also stay away from processed foods. I’ve been cooking from scratch about 90 % at home these past few months. I believe they add so much hidden sugar and addictive substances to processed food that it keeps you addicted. Also try intermittent fasting😉.

@@mossyoakmom8880 yes. All great advice and exactly what I’ve been doing. It has been months and I still crave sugar. It’s gotten better but I miss it. Especially summer fruit. 🍉

@@GenRN Have you initially totally got off of everything sweet? I’ve learned that anything sweet even sugar substitutes can keep you desiring sugar. I had been chewing gum with xylitol and I quit it to stay away from the sweet taste. I didn’t have anything sweet including fruit for several months initially. Now it’s easier for me to pass up goodies on a regular basis. I will have a little fruit at times after a meal.

@@mossyoakmom8880 yes. I have. I have never done any sugar alternatives, never any diet soda or artificial sweeteners. Occasionally I’ve had some fresh strawberries but it’s even been a few weeks. Some days this week I have been having up to 5 episodes of hypoglycemia. I wonder if that is keeping my sugar cravings up. I’m down to just meat and non starchy vegetables.

I have a sweet tooth, too. I left it. But it begins in the brain: we donnot need it! But the addiction will always exist 🤔

Even after 10 months no sugar, I still go past the Cheesecake shop and remember eating a slices of their cakes. Now I can resist for far better health. 👏🇦🇺

Yeah but cheese cake has a lot of fat in it too, sugar by itself is not bad, you were just in a caloric surplus by eating process foods which has sugar and fat, these macros together are super tasty.

@@Themilkman95 Exactly- sugar has been so demonised but most of the low carb "influencers" put up a misleading picture of a fat laden donut when they talk about sugar...it's the combination of the two that leads to the so called "addiction"- obesogenic chow- fat/sugar in proportions designed by the food industry to make you eat and not stop. Try eating sugar by itself it's really not that pleasurable lol....

I don't care what anyone says, I quit smoking it was a process, and now recently cut out sugar, it has been just as challenging, if not more so.

I smoked a pack a day for 43 years and quit cold turkey two years ago. About a year ago I started dramatically cutting down on my sugar intake because I learned that sugar feeds cancer cells and it turned out I had lung cancer. So far that was successfully removed and I am cancer free. I went on a tangent, sorry, the point is that I am finding it harder to quit sugar than cigarettes. Bread, pasta, and potatoes are so difficult for me to give up. Processed foods and baked desserts and candy are easier.

The earlier signs someone has been eating too much sugar and is addicted to the stuff. Brain fog, being irrational, aggression, rudeness, lack of objectivity, the ability to reason and being EASILY OFFENDED. We recently had family over and someone asked for sugar in their coffee. We are a sugarless home and we told the person we hadn’t any. Their response was less than polite. The next day when we were at a cafe the same person grabbed 10 sugar satchels from the counter and threw them at us…
