DPF Regeneration Using VCDS: VW Passat B7

This is a complete DIY how to perform DPF regeneration using VCDS software on your VW Passat B7.
▶️ Tools:
🔹All the tools are random - not advertising anything, unless stated otherwise
🔹Most of the tools are generic sets with bits and sockets
🔹All the special non-standart tools are mentioned in the popping messages on the bottom left
▶️ Location:
🔹Our garage which we have built ourselves with my father in law to repair our cars
🔤 Video language is english. But it is posible to activate the auto-translated subtitles (gear symbol in the player)

IT WORKED.....26.5 minutes....drove it for 5 minutes....light disappeared....drove it back home...light not back.....I I will update later if the light does not return.... AWESOME.....thank you so MUCH> the cable from Ross-Tech was $200 = tax...I got regular free shipping. All the other videos....did not work...but yours did....so far....I hope it sticks... Thank you so much. I did not have enough battery in my computer to run again the codes....but I will try again in a few days if I need to, Pittsburgh Dad Texas

If the DPF is already clogged, maybe it is time to remove it and get cleaned profesionally or atleast home cleaned using pressure washer and dpf chemicals.

Mine MQB platform, says aborted due to safety. stop engine & try again, but same message again. Want to try driving regen. Do you know what value to set ?? After I go into driving while regen settings on vcds it states stored value 0 should I put new value 1 ?

Hi. I didn't try to regenerate during driving, cannot recommend anything. It requires different password 12233 as far as I understood. I didn't get it why those "safety errors" popup.

@@dionich regen while driving.. yes change value from 0 to 1. Click do it & then it enter’s rengen. Drive 20 mins light goes off. Sorted

I had this keep happening to me too. I don't know if it was because I didn't tap the gas pedal or slowly relased the pedal but once I did it the tap version very quickly it finally said running....

@@TheeHomelessRunner it’s 1:29 am, currently searching the Internet, more problems on Passat b7, totally dead battery & locked out, emergency plastic key doesn’t unlock the drivers door. It turns right & left but doesn’t open the door… arghhh. Does anyone have any tricks to open the bonnet. Seen tricks on b6 thr the grill but 2011 b7 nothing…. 😳😳😳😳😳

Even smashing window don’t think it will allow me to pull handle to open the bonnet. Will get me the locking wheel nut tho, wheel off wheel liner off to eventually get to the cable… got to be an easier way ?????

I have a 2014 Passat TDI with check engine light code P2459 & vehicle tends to overheat while driving on highway & when I downshift & floor it to over 3k rpms it would instantly cool its self down

⁠@@dionichI have replaced the EGR sensor and pressure sensor. I just ordered VCDS and will try to do a regeneration as you did and hopefully that works

Seems more like a coolant circulation problem of overheating while steady driving. You should probably try doing a coolant flush (empty the cooling system for fluid, put in cleaning additive let it run for a bit, flush a couple of times with clean water) and also you should check if your thermostat opens fully. You can check by pulling it of, put it in a pot with water and boil it. It should start moving/opening around 85-90°c. Also clean your radiator and condensator for AC for leaves and other road debries.

Do i have to heat up the engine first or can i start the dpf regeneration cold

I would say, better to heat up since regeneration is a process of burning extra amount of fuel.

what do i do if it begins the process and then kills the car and says abort. i have tried multiple times but nothing works

Hi. I did also receive "Aborted, safety reason" error messages, but do not udnerstand the root of this. Sometimes they appear, sometimes they do not and the procedure runs without any issues.
