Күн бұрын

My name is James Simpson and I’ve been doing mixed martial arts for over 35 years. Over the last couple of years I just started noticing, wow… something isn’t right. My kicks were getting softer, I was starting to hurt a little more, I’m feeling a lot of pain and this just isn’t good. I finally went to Dr. Carl Weiss from Coordinated Health, and he confirmed what I didn’t want to know and didn’t want to hear. I needed both hips replaced. My hips were pretty much worn down to nothing, from all the years of stretching and kicking, and rolling around, and he told me it’s a common thing now in martial artists. I had two hips done, the first one I did at the beginning of this year in January and after that I was like wow this no pain is incredible. I went right back after my visit and asked when can we do the next one. Two months later, I did the second one and the relief is just incredible. I was up and walking around that day of surgery, which blew my mind and it took a little bit of time but within a week or two I was back on the mat walking around getting more and more flexible. I was so amazed, after I got them done my life came back, I got the joy of teaching again, I could move again, there was no pain, it was like it just rejuvenated me. I was so happy with my outcome, I knew somebody else who had the trouble, I recommended Dr Weiss to her, and she’s recovered and amazed and back on the mat training as well.

Just had total left hip replacement done 5 days ago. I was hurt 25 years ago in a parachute mishap in the Army with long term results. I've also trained martial arts for 40 years, and I am eager to get back at it. I was told no full contact sparring anymore, and no heavy bag kicks on left side. The operation was anterior, so no cut muscle. Already, that inner pain I had come to just ignore is no longer there. Totally life changing. I'm only 53 years old.

Great little video == I had both hips replaced a year before last. I had waited to long to get them done and my knees were damaged and muscle losses - anyway. Getting back now to where I can consider martial arts. Don't put off the operation ! My doc let me do both at same time, but many don't allow it (actually I was the only patient in 20 yrs he let get both done simultaneously). If your fit its a great way to go - get it done and over with - AND you can keep thinks balanced as you recover and get back going again. Having one done at a time makes me think of changing car tires one at a time.

Well I use to do Taekwondo, and am a first Dan. I trained a few years after that, now I need a double hip replacement, with the first one 4 days ago. They warn you not to lift more than 35 pounds as it could dislocate. I'm nearly 60 so age is just a number to me. So I will do Taekwondo again, but I hope the new hips will be strong enough ha ha

James, after 1 ( thr ) I guess especially ... since the one-hip being done would be more devastating 2 load up punches or kicks with . did you notice any difference with boxing... it seems I lost my explosiveness I can't really load up. Coming out of a slip with an uppercut it's just pathetic. I guess my question is how did you start training a rehabbing differently or did you? Best Dane ( 53 is the new 23 )

Hey Brother have you done any jiu jitsu or grappling since your hip replacement? It's been 4 months on the dot for Me. I'm doing everything I was doing prior to hip replacement except deadlifts and jiu jitsu. My doctor gave me no restrictions but hes never done jiu jitsu before. I've read online about people doing it for sure but was wondering if you have since all I see you doing in this video is striking

Hey Louis, I'm Danny...a 2nd degree Black Belt under Saulo Ribeiro, I saw your question to this video and now I have a question for you, if you'd be so kind. I've been extremely suffering from Right hip pain for about 6 years now, but the only reason I haven't done the surgery yet is because I can't imagine not rolling with my students ever again. So if you did your surgery 4 months ago from this post, if my math is correct, that makes it about a year since your surgery. Are you training BJJ again? Please, I'm dying to know from another fellow grappler.

The mistake is when one do a turning kick the foot on the floor must turn 160° not just 40° because in the long term it will eat up the hip joint. Noticr Korean masters do not need hip replacement sugery.

stretching does not wear out the cartilage in the hips, Bone to bone does it, and you begin to have symptoms of arthritis.

So you look into the children's eyes and do you tell them a double hip replacement is your future if you continue martial arts ? Are we all liveing an illusion taught to us through thousands of years of wars .that training is healthy when in fact it's not .
