E435 : in this episode I EAT! Mr Jonathan sent me a ton of snackfoods from the UK that we do not have here in the USA. so I try each one and let you know what i think and how it compares to similar things in the USA. sure you have seen these before but this is my funny take on it.
The snacks i try are Various Walkers crisps (chicken wing, cheese and onion and original) , some digestives biscuits. and Jacocbs chedders biscuits. nestle curley wurly, nestly aero peppermint, UK milkyway bars, Wotsits cheese curl things,. and my favorite, Tunnocks Caramel wafer bars.

A bit of butter on those Digestive - yes they were made to aid digestion, a bit like corn flakes were made to stop yanks pulling their planks 😅

As a brit with an old school buddy that lives in Texas that I visit twice a year I love bringing this stuff over for his teenage daughters to try, and I love trying anything new. You got the pronounciation of Mcvities right on the first try mac vit ees. And biscuit dunking is an art form just as the biscuit is sagging but not falling into the cup. This video made a nice change , thanks.

Hi Chris, I enjoyed your partaking of the British snacks. Because I am required to keep my weight to just slightly lower than that of a draft horse, I am severely limited in the number of snacks I am allowed. It was more fun, watching you eat and discuss the snacks, than for me to go through the binge/guilt thing I go through when I dig into a bag of goodies.

Tinternet reckons the American Curly Wurly was called a Marathon, not to be confussed with the British Marathon bar that which was a renamed Snickers bar. Digestives smeared with butter, then add cheese - really good with strong cheese like Stilton. Water biscuits are a hard thin cracker to go with cheese. Glad you enjoyed them. If you have any of the crisps left, try them as the filling of a sandwich.

A good vid Dr Chris.. Some nice downtime from those Amiga Repairs 👍🏻 The Rapeseed is Rapeseed Oil. Due to a certain conflict going on, Sunflower oil went into shortage. So a lot of the Crisp Manufacturers ended up having to find alternatives to fry there potatoes in. Rapeseed oil was one of them 😉 In the U.K and Europe, all ingredients have to be shown on packaging, including Fat content etc… The British Cadbury chocolate also has better milk and sugar. Fun fact.. Snickers bars used be called Marathon until the name change to snickers..

Why do Americans have floating teabags in their cups on a bit of string 😂 you put a teabag in the cup then add boiling water, then add milk if you wish and stir, squash the teabag against the cup for more flavour then take it out, then add sugar if you wish and stir sugar

Those Andy Capp hot fries are counterfeit. Andy Capp would NEVER use the word 'fries'! He's a proper northerner from the north east of England. He would only ever say the word 'chips' to describe such a product. (And yes, American fries and British chips are made in similar ways using basically the same ingredients but they are two totally different things) we do have fries in Britain too, but we differentiate between fries and chips. They don't taste the same, our chips are not the same as steak cut fries either, especially chip shop chips. If you go to a chip shop or a fish restaurant at the seaside etc you will get British chips. Nice fat, thick cut, slightly soft but crispy, lightly coloured, accompanying fish or a pie or sausage in batter with mushy peas or curry sauce, whereas with fries you would expect to get them from burger places, pizza shops, and other takeaway places. You would never get fries with fish or a pie, nor get chips if you were to buy a burger. Even frozen ones are labelled as fries or chips depending on variety. So, all this said, the REAL Andy Capp would be very disappointed his image was being used on such a product. Flo will be round with her rolling pin on his behalf, forthwith.

I am not qualified in electronics but definitely qualified in food! I am British and my wife is from where Jesus lives, like your good self. Totally spot on with the whole Mars confectionary differences, I do find three musketeers to be denser and more chocolately/malty. Tunnock's bars are over a century old and very much a traditional Scottish chocolate bar, the caramel uses loads of condensed milk, a real 'meaty' chewy bar. Tunnock's tea cakes are also iconic. You may have noticed with Walkers Crisps snacks the distinct very same logo as on your own 'Lays' snack foods....and that is because frito-lay/pepsico has owned them since 1989. Rapeseed oil is our term for canola oil. Not really any major differences betwen lays and walkers potato chips other than the flavourings, and that is much the case in mainland Europe too, where they primarily use the 'lays' branding and have differing flavourings for differing markets. I do think the amount of variety of potato chip (crisps) flavourings we have here in the UK takes some beating though. Digestive biscuits was originally made in the 1800s by doctors to aid digestion, believed to have antacid properties. The semi-sweet biscuit is made by many brands including own store brands, but none as far as we are concerned taste as good as McVities. Many brands taste less wheaty and too sweet. They are the ultimate dunking biscuit for sure in hot english breakfast tea (assam/ceylon blend) or coffee. We both really detest Hershey's chocolate, and most certainly my chocolate bar consumption on trips to Jesus land dips immensely. If you have a chance to try our Nestle Kit Kat it tastes totally different to the Hershey's nasty counterpart....wafer and chocolate.

@@ChrisEdwardsRestoration Just found your channel. Are you in Penna? I'm British (dual American) and have been around the factory in Penna plus the theme park when I was younger as my family live in Reading (not to be confused with the UK Reading, which I live pretty close to as well LOL). When I was younger I used to love the smell of the factory, but doubt I'd feel the same way now, my uncle used to send us over boxes of Hershey's including the Kisses. I cannot stand the taste of Hershey's now, tastebuds have matured 😂. Glad you liked and appreciated our healthier snacks ☺

as a British man im proud of our food you cannot put garbage in our food because we have the highest food standards in the world and if government went soft on it they would be ousted faster than my wife drops her knickers.

If your government had such standards to protect the population, explain the immigration standards.

Chris you might live in Jesus country but if Jesus ate the stuff you call chocolate in your country he'd spit it out and turn to Satanism. To think I came here for Amiga but ended up enjoying watching you try new treats 🤗

Jesus doesn't live anywhere, and I wouldn't eat any of that. This American used to eat that stuff but learned better. If I cannot pronounce something, I don't eat it. A great way to live.
