What chemical is in that contact cleaner? I couldn’t find it on the WD40 site. The chemical trichloroethylene that has been in them for years is turning out to cause parkinsons years later.

As someone that paid toward his A500, bought his A1200 outright, and would have happily parted with a kidney for an A4000, it's sad to see such a mistreated A3000.

Exactly the tower I've had for many many years with my Mediator 4000 system. Wonderful tower. I really wish I hadn't ditched the original desktop case and daughteboard, though, as I now have a 2nd motherboard and nothing to house it it. Good job (so far) with the fix! Don't forget two caps by the audio are the wrong way around on the silk-screen.

Great stuff Dr Chris 👍🏻 Where are you getting the chips from? Especially the DAC? Just sent over my Rev C (Rev 2) for repair to a U.K KZfaqr SHG Retro for repair. What were the differences between the Rev B and Rev C? Not the DCR version. Cheers 🍻

ebay on the Dac, then Kavanoz had a line on them so i got some from him also. the B was the main one Varta/Nicad rechargable leak, C was the last one produced by commodore, not the CR but the C has everything SMD, no sockets

That's a 'Power Tower', as in Power Computing. A re-badged Elbox 'E/BOX 4000' tower. Sorry for being pedantic. 😅 I bought the A1200 version from Power back in the day. Still have it and use it, but I suspect I need to consider a new PSU solution after 25+ years! Great video, Chris, as always.
