JEDEC is based on 1.1V, comparing 1.2-1.35v with xmp profiles. 1.1v with 5600 is not bad at all, when you have battery or power constraints.

Most of the high-speed kits of DDR5 (non-G.Skill, especially) are 1.4V. To me, that's a bridge too far for a low-airflow case given DDR5's temperature sensitivity.

Remember, RAM manufacturing is stuck at about a 18nm node size, smaller and the capacitive memory cells become unreliable. This is a major bottleneck they've been trying to get around for some time now. It's not looking good.

I have a aorus z790 xtreme I have bought about 20 ram kits that are on my qvl and only 2 have worked after full testing from 8000 to 6800 mhz and 6800 has 20% chance of working

Did you also change out your CPU? It's not only the motherboard. That might only be a ~15% contribution...

DDR6 to be launched in 2024/25 Samsung has already announced that it is currently working on finalizing the DDR6 memory standard together with the other JEDEC members from the circle of DRAM and SoC manufacturers. expect ddr6 in 2026? things always take longer...DDR6 RAM is expected to offer transfer speeds reaching up to 12,800Mbps on standard modules, with potential speeds of up to 17,000Mbps for overclocked versions. Moreover, it's designed to support four memory channels per module, doubling what DDR5 offers. - yeah bring quad chan back - it would really help

+50% speed increase where, memory benchmarks? The difference between DDR4 2400 vs 3600 is something like 5% in games and even less in other tasks.

Just gotta love the PhDs that refer to themselves and require you to refer to them as "Doctor" outside an academic setting. Always hilarious.

The irony here being I don't. I never have. It's on my business card, and my twitter. Other than that, it's up to whoever is writing / talking. I have never imposed my academic title on anyone. Also, it's mostly a grip from Americans. In Germany, if you get two doctorates, it's Dr Dr. Or Dr. Eng. Or prof Dr or etc.

I make it a point not to refer to any PhD as "Doctor". I was actually a computer engineering PhD student myself but I left the program after 1.5 years with a masters degree because I couldn't stand the rampant cheating, plagiarism, and straight up fraud that exists in academia. Most of them don't deserve the title, and those that actually deserve it won't care if you refer to them by the title or not.

@@theglowcloud2215 Nope, it’s precisely the other way around in terms of the inferiority complex. Every single person on this planet knows that the colloquial use of the word doctor refers to those who practice medicine. If a stewardess comes on the plane intercom as says, “Is anyone a doctor!?” these PhDs would be the exact people that would raise their hands. The insecure ones refer to themselves as Dr. John Doe, instead of John Doe, PhD. Just like Chiropractors who call themselves doctors. Do you ever see a lawyer calling themselves doctors? They’re technically Doctors of Jurisprudence. I always referred to my PhD level professors as doctors in academic or clinical settings. However, you’re just a tool if you refer to yourself as Doctor in everyday life for holding a PhD. It’s the truth, sorry bud.

Jedec is there so mb manufacturerer can sell terrible motherboards and make sure you get NO warranty at all on Intel or Amd cpus with terribles imc. Cause is ram pcb traces layouts are bottom tier trash. Lots of noise cause no shielding, uneven length on the signal traces, no grounding layer above or beneath etc.. You can buy a 780usd 14900k which belongs in the trash not hitting 7400Mhz ram speed (which is needed to keep ut with the Amd cache variant..). You get 6000Mhz on one board and 8000Mhz on an Asus Encore. AMD fell fell flat on their face, barely hitting 6000Mhz and Intel expected harder competition through early rumours so they aimed for 7-8000Mhz. Amd didn't have the dev team to make 7000Mhz+ so they went the safe cache route instead. They sell us trash cpus because of the longstanding cpu duopoly. If only nVidia would come into the cpu market Intel would be bankrupt within few years. Oh not expensive nVidia, I dont give a ... the 4090 is 60% better than than Amd alternative. They've sandbagged us for 10 years on the cpu side. My 4790k oc'd are faster loading sites than my oc'd 14900k. The situation is just mindboggling at the moment. Why arent you guys testing basic stuff like loading sites on Chrome?!

"Loading sites" - It probably isn't memory bottleneck. It might have to do with architecture of CPU. But there are always trade-offs when you design CPU. It's just that latency for such tasks isn't as important priority for CPU manufacturers. You should check videos about it from TechYesCity.
