Pink and red do still look different, they are just versions of grey or brown I think. My grandpa is pretty good at seeing differences in color and I find it interesting. So while they aren't the same as they are to us, he would still know the difference.

Hi, moderate protan here (meaning I have a colorblindness where my red cones work less than they should). There is a lot of variations between colorblindness, so I don't want to speak for everyone. Personally I have always seen clear distinctions between primary colors, the confusion occurs mostly in transition colors. It means I can't spot the difference between for example purple and dark blue, bright green and yellow, light red and pink and a few others. So in conclusion Red is still red to me (for as far as I know, but there is no way to prove it I guess), but due to my reds being less vivid, the brain has a way to correct itself which leads to issues when telling apart certain shades. Give me a color wheel and tell me to look for "green" and its like finding Venezuela on a map while blindfolded. I'll point in the general direction, but after that its just guessing.

I still wish they had changed the protags each season rather than keep Ash so they could keep Pikachu. They could have easily just made each protag encounter a Pikachu for their team. Instead we got a non-aging 10 year old boy that at best can get badges but can't ever win against the elites and has to have everything explained to him repeatedly.

Smell and taste are very interdependent senses. I get the same thing, for example cold canned tomatoes taste like how wet dogs smell, and certain herbal tinctures taste like how band-aid adhesive smells

It's good to see someone talking about synesthesia, most people don't understand and think I'm crazy or attention seeking whenever I mention it ! Smell and taste are indeed very linked, but my guess is, it's exacerbated in you because of synesthesia.

I have a different kind of synesthesia, so for me, sounds have size, shape, and texture. You have my solidarity, but I’m mostly here to agree Dr. Pepper and pomegranate are dynamite jelly beans. I’m also a fan of the banana eaten together with the chocolate pudding.

@@marlyd My favorite food is tonkatsu ramen. The color varies from what's in the bite, like the noodles are a like yellow and white lines bouncing around my mouth. The broth is a dark brown that rumbles around I guess where my tonsils are? Bamboo sends orange lines against my tongue. Seaweed is light blue and green that soer of dances on the tongue. The pork is a yellow that melts along the tongue and settles in my jaw. Earing it all together is just a bunch of colors that sort of crash like a wave in my mouth, some lower like in the jaw area, all the way up to some near my sinus. But my favorite food to eat simply for the synesthesia part of it is Indian. There are so many flavors that it's just an explosion of color.
