I grew up in the 60's when junk food was just becoming popular. My family raised our own animals for meat and always had a garden. We NEVER had sweets unless it was a birthday or Christmas celebration. Didn't have a cola until I was a teen. Needless to say my Mom and step dad raised a house full of healthy active children with excellent teeth. My Mom went through a round of depression and bought a huge box of sweetened cereal to make breakfast easier for her.. I will never forget my dad's reaction. He threw the box away and said, "You're going to give these kids diabetes and rotten teeth!" He stepped his game up and made sure we had plenty of quick and easy snacks and meals, all fresh from the garden and cases of sardines. I used to think my brothers and I were deprived and treated wrong for not being allowed to eat sugar and processed foods. Now I'm convinced I had the absolute best parents ever! I'm about to do the 72 hr sardine challenge in honor of my dad.

Your father was very smart. Throwing out that sugar bomb, which is all it was, probably saved your mother from worse depression. My own mother went through a short bout of depression back in the late 1960s and her doctor told her to eat more fish and vegetables---we had our own small garden, and she loved veggies---and that really did help her a lot. She never experienced depression again right to the day of her death 17 years ago.

I had a doctor a long time ago who said i had high blood pressure. I was already on a pill for it, rather than up my dosage, he asked me what I ate at work, I was working for state parks at the time and was very active. I told him generally what I ate, which included canned tuna some times. After hearing that he told me to try sardines, at least once a day. One month later he had me off my bp meds, and I even felt better in general. I try to eat at least 5 cans a week. I wish more people gave this a chance.

This may be the most important video health conscious people can watch. I've been eating sardines since 1962 but not for health reasons. My dad and I would carry them on fishing trips because there was no preparation involved and too much time and trouble to go back to shore and eat. I love em. Got a pantry full of them as I write this. I like all flavors too. Sardines and Herring. I lived on sardines, freshwater fish, beans, coffee and ice tea and never had a weight problem, always underweight but all muscle because I did hard physical labor most of my life. Poor person and could not afford snacks, carbs and sweets. I'm 69 now and since I've retired my weight and cholesterol has been rising because I just sit here and watch your videos. Lol! Also because all my snacks are within arms distance of my computer. Prosperity is killing me. Jesus fed fish to the multitudes. That's good enough proof for me.

Sardines not in a can Dude: I was given canned Sardines forty years ago by a wife of a good friend when I suddenty turned up at his home to celebrate his family arrival from Communist VN. I enjoyed as his wife had no time to cook proper meal for me; I ate the canned Sardine and white rice then after a few hours I felt that I would collapse as there were nil any Energy left in me as my Digestive system had to digest junkie stuff, chemicals , Mercury and the cans coating of the sardines... I'm 76 year old man in Canada and have always eaten sardines regularly. Literally never get sick. And a couple of interesting unknown facts re sardines. The German army relied heavily on sardines ... called sprats in Europe... as a staple of their rations because of the high food value in a small easy to transport package/tin. And currently consumers may have noticed that sardines have not had the dramatic food price increase of other foods in the last year or so. That is because the large ocean fish... that lived on sardines... have been heavily overfished, especially by China, with the result sardine stocks have never been higher, hence the lower prices. So not only good for you but cheap.
@healthinfotipss
@healthinfotipss Жыл бұрын
That's fascinating! It's amazing how regularly consuming sardines has contributed to your overall health and well-being. The historical use of sardines as a staple in the German army's rations due to their high nutritional value is impressive. Additionally, the current availability and affordability of sardines due to the overfishing of larger ocean fish, which preyed on sardines, is an interesting insight. Sardines truly offer both health benefits and cost-effectiveness. Thanks for sharing this valuable information!

Hi, does it matter if the sardines are in tomato sauce, brine or oil? Or which type of sardines?
@iridescentsea3730
@iridescentsea3730 11 ай бұрын
@@ruthtrimmer3803 In my opinion, brisling sardines taste best and have the best mouth-feel, but they're more expensive as a result. If the can does not say "brisling sardines" then you can safely assume that they're the bigger kind of fish (like three huge headless sardines in the can rather than a dozen tiny sardines with heads and fins attached). The bigger sardines don't taste as good, but they taste a lot stronger, and their bones are also bigger so you'll feel them when chewing. Sardines in oil are also more expensive than sardines in water, mustard, tomato sauce, etc. Avoid soybean oil or any that just say "oil" without specifying the type, because soybean and seed oils carry traces of heavy metals and seem pretty unhealthy overall. Extra virgin olive oil is probably the best tasting, and will likely only be packed with high quality brisling sardines, making it the most expensive (like over two dollars a can). The choice is really yours to make. Either go the penny pinching route of big sardines in water, or the indulgent route of brisling sardines in EVOO.

I've had a worsening autoimmune disease and an increasing histamine response to food, leading to a runny nose, bloating, stomach discomfort, brain fog and weight gain, even with exercise and 18-6 intermittent fasting. However, since incorporating sardines into my diet, these issues have subsided, and I've lost 8 pounds in 1.5 weeks. Even when I cheat a day and indulge in high-carb meals, I don't experience bloating or histamine reactions, and I continue to lose weight. In my opinion, sardines are truly magical little gut healers and overall wellness developers. When you dig down and really unpack this, it's at the core of this phenome of radical morbid obesity we see here in the USA. Our food, were it comes from and how we grow, process and ship it to market is so radically different from how we did it prior to 1960. Hence, the Mediterranean populations living longer and healthier as they still primarily grow, eat, consume food "The old way".

That's incredible! Your experience with incorporating sardines into your daily meals has brought remarkable results, from improved weight, mood, and mental alertness to the disappearance of allergies. It's fascinating to see how sardines have positively impacted your autoimmune disease and histamine response, leading to weight loss and relief from discomfort. The contrast between traditional food practices and modern methods sheds light on the health disparities we see today. Sardines truly have the potential to be gut healers and contributors to overall wellness. Keep up the amazing progress on your wellness journey!

My 72 hour sardine challenge ended at 8:30am today. I tested my glucose and ketones before having my last can. My ketone meter alerted me to high ketones this morning. Glucose 77 and ketones 8.5, DBR 9. This is my 4th and mentally, most successful challenge. Haven’t heard of ketones this high. I feel so good, can’t possibly be bad, right? I have major autoimmune issues and huge amount of excess skin that is pretty quickly shrinking. I’m not crazy about sardines, but I do love what they do for me!

Thank you much for this video. I tried the challenge I only made it to 48 hrs. But this morning I tested my ketones and I was at 1.9. 🙌🙌🙌. I'm in ketosis !!!. I'm so excited and happy to make this lifestyle change. I'm a cancer survivor and I want to keep on living cancer free. I know fasting works and being low carb or carb free. My tumor went from the size of a med 🍓 to a 🍊 in a matter of weeks. I indulged in the holidays feasts. Instead of fasting and diving into nutritional ketosis. Sometimes your emotions have a hard time catching up with your logical side. But now im in remission woohoo!!!. I want to keep it from recurring. I can already feel the benifits from the anti-inflammatory effect of the sardine challenge and being in ketosis. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge 🙏

Day one yesterday ate half a tin in the morning, no hunger the rest of the day. Today still no hunger in the a.m. but a sudden spike of hunger in the afternoon after a 2-hour walk, but I powered through it, so day 2 ended up being a water fast. No ketosis until evening of day 2 when it suddenly shot up to 1.4 all at once. Just as I was starting to ruminate on grabbing some fast food. Glad I powered through it. Here's to tomorrow, let's see what day 3 brings. Thank you Dr. Boz, I appreciate you. Edit: day 3, ketones at 4.0, food cravings faded into background hum, feels good.

My hope and prayer is that God will bless the following message to everyone who reads it. 🫱In the beginning God made the heaven and the earth and everything in them. God created a man in His image, after His likeness and named him Adam. The LORD God commanded the man saying, "Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." God said that it was not good for the man to be alone, so He created a woman (Eve) from one of Adam's ribs, to be his helper. The serpent (Satan - See Revelation 12:9) was in the garden and he beguiled Adam's wife. She ate from the tree and gave to her husband and he ate of the fruit, disobeying God's commandment. That day they both died spiritually and eventually, physically. Because of the fall everyone is born spiritually dead and in bondage to sin. We must be given a spiritual resurrection (born again) before we can see the Kingdom of God. - You can read all about creation and the fall of man in greater detail from the book of Genesis. God is Holy, Holy, Holy, and perfectly righteous. He is the Just Judge and so He must and will punish everyone who dies in their sins. God is good, gracious and merciful, but we are not good. We have all broken God's Law (Sin is the transgression of God's Law), many, many times. God's written Word teaches us that in our unregenerate state our hearts are deceitful above all things and desperately wicked and that we are at enmity against God. While many go after false gods and make themselves idols, Scripture tells us that no-one seeks God. Scripture tells us that there is not a just man upon earth, that does good, and does not sin and that all our righteousneses are as filthy rags. Most people compare themselves to the most wicked men who have ever lived to justify themselves, but it is foolish to compare ourselves to others, because we will all stand in front of the same Judge at the last day, who knows everything about us, even our secret thoughts (those thoughts you don't want anyone to know about) and if He does not see Christ's righteousness when He looks at you, you will be found guilty for your sins and you will be cast into the lake of fire. The Lord Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh. He was born of a virgin and lived a perfectly sinless life that we do not. The Gospel is the Good News about what the Lord Jesus Christ did for His people. He suffered, bled, and died for our sins, drinking the cup of the Father's wrath in our place, and He rose from the grave on the third day for our justification. Except for those of us in Christ who are alive and remain when the Lord Jesus Christ returns, everyone is going to die, eventually. One day your soul will be required of you by your Creator. Today could be your last day on earth. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin unto salvation. Hebrews 9:27-28 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust. Acts 24:15 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Daniel 12:2 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Revelation 21:8 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15 If you repent (Repentance is a change of mind that leads to a change of actions), and believe the Gospel, confessing with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believing from your heart that God has raised Him from dead, you will be saved. My hope and prayer is that you will repent and come to the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. "I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me... I Am the Bread of Life: he that cometh to Me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on Me shall never thirst... I Am the Door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture... I Am the Resurrection, and the Life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die. Believest thou this?.. I Am the Light of the world: he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of life... Ye must be born again... Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of Water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again... If ye believe not that I Am He, ye shall die in your sins... Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn Him to death, And shall deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify Him: and the third day He shall rise again... And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God... And this is the will of Him that sent Me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day... Repent ye, and believe the Gospel...I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish... I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I Am He, ye shall die in your sins... I Am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I Am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death... I Am Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the Ending, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty... Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I Am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls." - The Lord Jesus Christ🫲

I have to say, you have IMPRESSED me beyond belief. I did a 3 day sardine challenge, (with oil). The first day, I was HIT, I can't even say it any other way - I was HIT with so much energy, more than I ever felt my ENTIRE LIFE. It was unbelievable... but that's not all, I decided to incorporate them into my diet as well. I use avocado mayo and mix them in. Tastes like tuna salad to me. The jumpstart plus OMAD and keto together made my A1c go from 12 - yes freaking 12- blood glucose over 400 ! to 7.5 in.. ..get this.. 2 months ! what ? how ? A1c is supposed to show a 3 month stretch but in even LESS time it dropped. 2 months later and I test my blood glucose its 106. I went from DYING to HEALTHIER than I have been in quite some time in just 4 months. I suppose I should add that I dropped 45 pounds also, but it honestly feels like a SIDE EFFECT. ALL WITHOUT DRUGS. Now that I understand the importance of autophagy and reducing insulin and its resistance, I know what I need to do. I cannot thank you Dr Bosworth enough for giving me the perfect kick start plan, helping save my life, and everything else that you do ! Also: I would be happy to comment in the future to tell you my progress if anyone has any questions feel free !

@@naturalrealm7850 Ok so keep in mind this is what I did, BUT I also was someone who KNEW that I had an overeating issue. I started out at 325 pounds. I was eating maybe twice a day, sometimes 3 times a day, very large meals, I mean EVERYTHING bad lots of fast food, "italian" restaurant food...chinese , corner store sandwiches, all complete with sodas, with snacks in between of bad carbs like pies or snack cakes little debbie type junk, and a milk of course to go with it. and I would eat 2 of them sandwiches when everyone else was eating just one. I had to be ingesting at least 1/3 more calories in general than the average person, finished my girlfriends, dinner... hope thats good enough to explain where I was...... So I started slowly. I cut out sugar and simple carbs first. continued to drink DIET soda to make up for it. THAT was STAGE 1. I did that for quite a while, it was very LOOSE you know, not too restrictive. Then for STAGE 2 I did my first fast. It was a full 3 day water fast. WITH electrolyte powder, FROM DR BERG website. Felt amazing. Then I did the "sardine challenge" which was just eat only sardines, as much as you want for 3 days. This is actually another type of fast that will lower insulin resistance and up your energy like nothing I have ever felt, it literally will kickstart your metabolism. I went straight to OMAD (one meal a day) STAGE 3 and I will eat either: 2 cans of sardines WITH OIL, and electrolyte powder. OR one half pound of my choice of ground meat, I switch between beef, pork, chicken, and use a simple sauce like a bit of tomato sauce or mustard or you know whatever to flavor it. Im not a cook so I do it simple, plus this keeps me motivated, and a green leafy vegetable like spinach or kale or whatever and then drench it in olive oil or prepare it as like a salad. then use apples cider vinegar and extra virgin olive oil, and I make sure its the best quality olive oil I can find and I use alot of it. I learned the hard way how important sodium - potassium ratio is and everything else. I drink to scoops of it in water. Now, depending on how much sodium was in my food...this is why I specifically chose Dr Bergs powder because its not as high in sodium...I can add salt as needed. When you stop eating junk, all that sodium your body was used to gets depleted. It has to be replaced and brought down slowly. Or you will end up in the ER with LOW blood pressure. That happened to me. SODIUM is the most important thing. when you fast OR do keto/IF, your sodium will be depleted. I think a lot of people run into this problem and fail I mean its that simple, going shopping takes like 5 minutes.

I eat a lot of sardines. Once I found out they are low in mercury, as compared to other fish like Tuna, I have gone to town on eating these. It helps to be hungry when you open a can of sardines. I use all of the different kinds. Oil, water, and mustard are the kinds I eat. I eat pickled herring as well. I rarely eat tuna anymore, especially since I found out how high their mercury levels are. I eat sardine salad sandwiches. Season Brand sardines are the top brand of sardines in my opinion. They are a little more expensive, but still VERY reasonably priced. I take a tine of Season sardines, fork them to a bowel, add miracle whip, about 6-10 green olives, garlic powder, onion powder or any other kind of powered spice you like. Then I smash then very good, making sure to bust up the green olives into small pieces. This is BETTER than tuna salad in my opinion. I can tell a big difference when I eat a lot of sardines in a day. My knee replacement inflammation goes down. I have better functional performance out of my artificial knee when I eat sardines. Remember Season brand, a product of Morrocco. I eat the other cheaper brands as well. But if I want to make a sardine salad, Season is what I use. I eat flatbread with that salad. If I can not find crispbread, I eat Matzo's as well. I actually have come to really enjoy Matzo's Kosher bread.

I tried the sardine fast this year. I haven't had sardines in many years and it tasted great!...on the 1st day🤤 2nd day, the sardines started to get "old", after eating them over and over when I felt the "munchee's" coming. It was tough getting through the 2nd day, let me tell ya!😮 3rd day was the WORST of all, when I just wanted to stop all together! They tasted SO BAD😂 2nd day, I decided to pan fry them in butter, which helped. 3rd day, even butter didn't help, but I got through them. ONLY draw back I saw was the "need" to eat something else after the 72 hours. THAT means self control to NOT over eat things, such as carbs, fat, sugary stuff. This challenge is good ONLY IF you have self control AFTER the 72 hours and ONLY you can find the will to get past the 2nd day "crash". I don't know if I can handle another challenge, knowing what I know now and what I went through the 1st time😂

So... I’ve never tried Sardines. Been keto for 3 months, lost 36 lbs so far! Today I bought some after seeing this video, they were packed in tomato sauce. I was frightened, just the thought was killing me.. lol. I opened the can, and they smelled like tuna, which I love. I then closed my eyes, plunged in a fork, had a bite and LOVED THEM!!!! And they really DO make you feel kind of giddy. I can now add them to my food list, and do this fast!! Thank you!!!

@@PigeoneerToy I too like sardines and have all my life but would only eat them a couple of times per year. If you chop up your sardines before you indulge it does look like something you would see in a chum bucket and the fishy smell solidifies the image. My wife hates fish - always has. After the 72 hours, which ended with a sardine breakfast on day 4, I had an 8 oz Angus burger made from grass fed beef on 2 pieces of sourdough bread topped with bacon and Vermont cheddar cheese. YUM! Now I am back to low carb dining with 2 20 hour intermittent fasts per week. Enjoy your sardines!

Hi Frenk! It's great to hear that you've found Dr. Boz's videos inspiring and that you're embracing a low-carb eating lifestyle. To address magnesium and potassium loss on keto, it's important to focus on consuming magnesium-rich foods like leafy greens, nuts, and seeds, and incorporating potassium-rich foods such as avocados, spinach, and salmon. Additionally, you may consider discussing with your healthcare provider or a registered dietitian to determine the appropriate intake for your specific needs. Keep up the good work, and here's to a healthier you!

"Why would a doctor recommend that?" Because it works! "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food." It's outrageous that Keto isn't the #1 prescribed diet by ALL doctors. Carnivore is even better. I hate fruit and most vegetables give me IBS-D anyway, so it's easy for me to stick with liver, sardines, eggs, and beef once a day, I haven't had a problem putting down cheese and pecans, too. I’m currently at 60 hours of my second sardine challenge. BG 73 & KB of 3.5 for a Dr Boz ratio of 20.85! I’m so thrilled with this progress! In 1997 I was in 3 rear-end car collisions over an 18 month period. Since then, I had developed chronic knots in my neck and shoulders that are quite painful-the first sardine challenge took those away in 3 days! I followed a keto diet in 2016 but drifted off the plan. Tried many times to restart only to derail after 2-3 days each time. Then I found your channel. Seeing the science-you explain everything so well-and your dedication to helping others understand the dynamics of their health conditions really has made such a difference! I have lost 20 lbs since May 14, 2020. Sleep has improved dramatically and I feel more like my younger self with boundless energy! Thank you so much for all that you do! @@karenhunt-cook2192When I cook boiled eggs, I time it for 2 minutes once the water starts boiling. After that I let it sit for 2 minutes in the hot water. Then I let the egg sit in the cold water for about 5 minutes or sometimes more. For a medium size egg, I always get a slightly moist boiled egg. I don’t like when the yolk is too dry. Soft or Runny yolks are good for nutrition too.

I sort of did that when i ate them, used my fork to break them up to a consistency similar to tuna.

I did a 3-day sardine fast last weekend and LOVED it!!! No cooking! I get much more time to enjoy the weekend this way! AND, I know what I'll be eating at work on Monday. What a great "minimalist" approach to eating. Thank you for the idea about air frying the sardines; I never would have thought of that. It's a new weekend and I'm eating my air fryer sardines even as we speak, air fryer sardines sprinkled in pepper, a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, and some Hawaiian black salt. SO good. I learned a little detail: do the sardine fast for 72 hours, and at hour 72 eat another can of sardines. Fascinating. By the way, I went all out and ordered a brand of sardines off Amazon, the Nuri brand -- a lot more expensive than the other brands. I wanted to see if they were worth it. I think so. I'm also adding mackerel, one can a day of Nuri brand, to the schedule. It's so good. Keto 100% since July 2017. I hit a plateau where I didn't lose a thing, didn't gain a thing, for years, and then recently I've been gaining an inch or two here and there. This Must Not Be. My plan is to keep doing the sardines every weekend, keto through the week (with one or two meals a day). I HAVE managed to quit all sweetening since last weekend. A few years back I grew and dried my own stevia leaves. I've pulled that jar out front on the shelf now. If something just has to taste sweet, I'll use that.
