I'm 55 back when I was 4 I crawled out a window to find milk for my three younger siblings. Our mom would leave us locked in the house ,and take off with a guy for a couple days. That happened a lot. But when I crawled out the window the neighbors found out we were left alone . They took us from her. I got a good home because of it. I know God had his hand in that happening in my life.🙏🙏

And if you want another powerful song that will get your tears going take a listen to Riding with Private Malone - David Ball, Arlington - Trace Adkins, Letter From Home - John Michael Montgomery, Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning) - Alan Jackson, or Teddy Bear - Red Sovine. I don't think any music can bring out emotion like old School country can. Shania, Garth, Toby, John, Martina, they all have this ability to tell an amazing story to make you feel like your living it.

Based on a true story. I remember this song from when i was a kid it actually helped me not feel alone in the circumstances i grew up in. One of many actually i thank God for these people martina micbride concete angel, angels among us sont remember the singers name, allysa lies etc. It was amazing they all came out during that time when i felt the most invisible its good to know people do actually care, that they show the love of God through this effort to reach out for the unheard and unseen. Things are so different now and its so amazing how much support abuse victims have rhank you for this i hope i can give back. Maybe be a voice for the voiceless too

Hey Bro, I’m so glad you really got what happened in this song! I didn’t like nor listen to much country growing up but sometimes it’s all about timing. I found country when the time was right for me. I’m 47 now and got into country in 1993 when I was 21. I was driving and was just in the frame of mind to get lost in a song and the right one came on (All These Years by Sawyer Brown) and it stayed in my ears, my mind, and in my heart for days afterward until I had to buy the CD. That’s how it started for me. I love how country songs paint vivid pictures and that each one is its own story. I hope you check out All These Years by Sawyer Brown, Not That Different by Collin Raye, Till I Was A Daddy Too by Tracy Lawrence, You Have the Right To Remain Silent by Perfect Stranger, You’re Gonna Miss This by Trace Adkins, Letter To Me by Brad Paisley, Don’t Take The Girl by Tim McGraw, Matches by Sammy Kershaw, I’m Not Strong Enough To Say No by Blackhawk, and I Still Believe In You by Vince Gill!!! That, my new friend, would give you a nice look at how great country music was, especially in the 90s (the best decade for this genre). Country tells it like it is and if there’s any emotion that you’re dealing with, this genre will bottle those feelings up and make music that will hopefully help you. I still listen to other genres but I’ve found as I grow older that my comfort zone rests in Country Music with its relatable stories.

This song came out in 2000. I was on the school bus when I heard it in song form for the first time (I think it was when the radio station premiered it). I actually heard the story this song is based after about 10 years before that. Either my parents knew the adoptive family or it was like church family relating the story. It came right back to me as I listened to the song. I also remember the radio DJs talking about the song afterwards- that when John Michael Montgomery heard the story it only took him 8 minutes to write the song.

This song and video has always been hard for me to watch and listen to. My sister got with a 19 yo guy when she was 17 and they married and had a girl when she just turned 18 well he turned in a drug addict and she left him when she was 20 and my niece was 2 when she went to get their clothes he was told they were there so he went there all messed up on drugs and alcohol and my niece was sitting on the couch and my sister was standing in front of her he walked in and shot my sister 8 times killing her and shot at my niece barely glazing her are and shot his self 2 times he live by time cops got there my niece was sitting on floor beside my sister crying mom mom.We he lived got 6 years by his lawyer pleading him down and he was guilty by reason of temporary insanity while under influence of alcohol and drugs. My niece had nightmares until the day she killed herself at 13 and the day after my sister was killed my brother was 18 went and killed the man who call and told him my sister was there and he got life without parole. So this song bring tears to my eyes every time even now

It’s nice that you hate judging. But. Listen carefully….. It’s partly BECAUSE people (yes, like yourself) will NOT judge that so much garbage like this happens. For instance, if the social worker would, for once in their life JUDGE and take the child out of the home….but too many times they don’t… Or the relative or neighbor, doesn’t want to JUDGE, even though they strongly suspect that something is going on…. Our society has become so damn afraid of appearing “judgemental” is one of the reasons this stuff NEVER gets fixed. I swear, if I hear one more person say, “Well, who am I to judge,” I swear I’m going to slap them. “WHEN you judge (not IF) use RIGHTEOUS judgement.” - Jesus Christ
