I love this song so much. Ray, I am so proud of you and your sobriety. You have a wonderful testimony, and you are using it for good. If your story can help one person to make that first hard step to sobriety it will be another life changed. You are an amazing person. Big love to you. Letters from Home John Michael Montgomery

The first time I heard this song I was driving and I had to pull off the side of the road because I was crying so hard I couldn't see. I went to school with a girl who's Dad shot her mom and then himself in front of her and her siblings. I still think about them today when I hear this song. Thank you so much for your testimony and I am so proud of your sobriety. Like a song my mom used to listen to many years ago, One Day At a Time Sweet Jesus. Thank you again for all that you do and will continue to do.

Jesus is so much more real than a story and some people will never understand that and won’t know the true beauty of this song. On another note, this song proves every race color and background are the same.. hip hop rap rock metal jazz country, it doesn’t matter.. life and abuse and drugs aren’t monopolized to hurt one over the other and as someone who grew up with this music I love when it ventures to people besides us stereotypical “southern red-necks singing about girls beer trucks and dogs running away”.. country has beautiful stories to tell when you get through the pop country people

You are correct about children who come from difficult childhoods, where the basics - love, affection, morals, etc - were missing. "The unloved child will burn the village down to feel its warmth".

I've done pretty much every drug in the book. Ecstasy was probably the biggest, if not Ketamine.. I was in deep with those, but I rose away from drugs thanks to my kids. I got three. The oldest is 12, then 7, then 5.. I haven't smoked weed in 3 years, and I'm a recovering alcoholic of 2 years. Unfortunately, my wife had to leave me for me to finally realize the problem... I got mad respect for you, G. My dad is an alcoholic and my mom is a drug attic, so this song resonates. Damn, sorry, bro. Song got me blowing up your comments and shizz. Keep going, bruh. Imma viber now, lol ✌️🤪

This is a good reaction. I especially like that you don't apologize for getting emotional you just inform us that it's gonna happen. At 1st I laughed whenever a reaction channel said that. But so many do it now that it's starting to irritate me. We WANT you to be emotional that's the whole purpose of watching a reaction video.

Thank you so much for this, and your honesty and testimony. My dad became a severe addict when I was in my early 20s and i tried everything I could to help him, and failed. You should be so, so proud of yourself. I hope if folks are struggling with addiction, they see this and your uplifting narrative and know there's hope. Much love to you, from a former little girl who wishes my dad had found your strength.

Hey man. You speak wisdom. This song hits on many levels, but i thank you for keeping it real. one day at a time. keep going. i was sober for ten years after being 18 years in active addiction. one day out of the blue i relasped. i dont know why.thanks for the realness. helps see the real truth. i feel this song EXACTLY how you feel it. Growing up in the deep south, I have known this song since it came out in 96 or mabye 97? i actually receited the words as if it was a poem to my senior Reading class because i had completely forgot about a literature project. I knew the words by heart already because Montgomery is one of my all time favorites. FYI John Micheal Montgomery wrote some very successful R&B songs in the 90s for groups like Boyz to Men and All For One just to name a couple. he is a great writer. i cant express how thankful i am for finding this video of you listening to ''Little Girl.'' i needed your vibes on the subject. thanks

I appreciate your reaction to this song, and congratulations on your sobriety. My wife and I raise foster kids and I can tell you that it comes with great difficulties but also great joys. It takes years to get some kids through their trauma, and others never get completely over it, in most cases that trauma is generational and unfortunately the system is not always there to help the kids. In my state there is a huge need for foster families, there is 8k to 10k more kids than they're families to serve them.

Much love going out to you brother. I use to be on pain pills and heroin, for years. I 100% believe if I didn't go to prison I'd never have quit and been dead. It took 6 months to get over the bad withdrawals and another 6 months after to stop hurting so bad I couldn't even sit still. Still got some friends that do that stuff ask me for rides and stuff. And I just straight up say man I can't be around it. But I believe anyone that gets off drugs can do anything else in this world easy. When you dream about dope and think about dope everyday and finally get passed it, you've really did something.

Congratulations on your sobriety! I am not an addict but my daughter is and I am so proud of her for getting clean. It has been an up and down road but when she has fallen she gets back up and tries again. This time we are hoping it sticks as she really wants to make it. For herself and her daughter. Country music wise if there is something you are interested in I can send you down some rabbit holes lol. Well not just country as I was raised on country and rock that was from the 50's on. I was a teen in the 80's and a parent in the 90's and music is a big part of my life.

I just found your channel n love ur reaction. Like u I am a recovering addict....20 yrs clean this year!! I was an every day cocaine user for 9 yrs, like I had to have it to even get up n out of the bed...I got lucky n ended up going to prison for 9 yrs and that saved my life n helped me get clean....I have been out of prison for going on 12 yrs n life is amazing....as a parent I did put the drugs before my kids, my family, my self, etc but as u mentioned drugs can numb u n I was numbing some trauma from my childhood (as long as I was numb I could handle anything)....once I addressed that trauma in therapy and made peace with it staying clean was easy for me...I have worked in rehabs helping others get clean n currently work in domestic violence....what I wanted to really say is that with getting clean n in the years being cleaning and prove myself to my children, family and friends that I had hurt has allowed us all to forgive (forgiving myself was the hardest thing ever for me) each other, grow and move on from it together (we no longer live in my past with my past behaviors)....rebuilding my relationship with my kids has been amazing cuz I was not a good parent when I was using but I am a great parent now to them....people can change!!!!

Beautiful. Simply a beautiful reaction. Have heard this song no fewer than 100x, but tears. First- you are amazing. And you are EXACTLY who you are and were always meant to be!! Listening to you today for some reason caused me to think of so many things my wonderful mother used to say- for one, Never let yesterday rob you of tomorrow. You are LIVING this!!! Be beyond proud of yourself. Another- What’s meant for you will not pass you by. Your wife was the grace God intended for your life, before either of you ever knew! How blessed you both are! Really encourage you to check out I’m Moving On by Rascal Flatts & To Get Here by Willie Nelson. And btw- shout out to Alison Kraus for the harmonies on this one❤️ My mom was only 58; really wish she could have hung out w us longer to impart more wisdom. Miss her every single day nearly 30yrs later. Thank you for reminding me of her wisdom & how truly blessed I was- and am. Stay safe & love much💖

I myself have done horrible things, and my wife found me, married me, and gave me two beautiful girls who saved my life! If you met me twenty years ago, you would not understand that I am the same guy that I am today. I did things that would make any man ashamed. I am the man that I am today, because God forgives all. This song gets me every time, because I remember being about the girl's age in the video if not a little younger when my mom told me that story back in the 90s (somewhere 5-10 years before the song came out). Again, I was young but I remember her telling the story either directly from the adoptive parents or a short second-hand telling. This song has more details than the story I heard, but it changed the way I looked at church as a child. When this song released I was ecstatic, knowing it was a true story. Thank you for your insights from your perspective, it makes it all the richer and fuller.

And sometimes no matter what a parent does no matter how much they try to help their child or their adult child child refuses the adult child refuses to listen refuses to go for help refuses everything in in fact maybe treats the parent horribly it's not always parents fault and if they're adults it's on them
