the perfect position for the Empath Psychic Judge should be as an Internal Affairs Judge where she would mind/mental Judge all Judges for corruption, she would ask a list of Question's as a oral survey in the form of What Would You Do Corruption Scenario and they wouldn't know about her gift so while they attempt to lie, she would see the real truth in their mind and she would have a button to press to activate wrist restraints so she can then deep dive into their mind get names of others that are also Corrupt and locate every place where the physical proof of their Corruption can be found and depending on the severity the Corruption violations she would have 2nd button for Death

Karl Urban used to read the comics in his teenage years, and his Dredd-voice is based on how he envisioned it

Also, the character of Dredd was partly inspired by Dirty Harry. So, I guess that it's also a kind of Clint Eastwood impression.

When War Protocols are activated not only does the building lock down, armories open up. This is to arm defenders within the megablock, as mega city one has been rocked by war before. This is where the gatling guns came from.

This reboot was paying homage to the original Judge Dredd comics' accuracy. That's why it's more gritty, bloody, and Dredd is more ruthless as a law enforcement officer. If you want to see a more Hollywood-ized Dredd (that deviates from the comics), check out Sylvester Stallone's Judge Dredd (1995).

@Russell Hughes honestly, it's a mixed bag. Stallone's Dredd movie has a lot of good stuff in it, the Angel gang, ABC Warriors, and a spectacular version of the Megacity itself... But it has some real problems, too - not least being the 'Hollywood' version of Dredd.

This has been one of my favorite movies since it came out. It's got style...and every line from Karl Urban is perfection.

Anderson did amazing, but remember, losing her sidearm is an automatic fail. She knew she had failed and still tried to live up to the ideal of the Judges. You could say, because of holding onto that Idealism when she didn't stand to gain from it was what made Dredd pass her.

I think it was also him realizing she was a good judge, despite some bureaucratic nonsense saying otherwise. He knew she would be an asset.

This was in 3D when in theaters, and yeah it was bonkers. It was like watching a midnight movie because of how the audience reacted.

FYI guys there's a Psy Div in the Justice Dept so Anderson isn't the only Judge who can read minds.

In relation to Ma-Ma's detonator; Dredd is counting on the half a mile distance from the ground to the 200th floor plus the thickness of the concrete floors (approx 300 feet of concrete when added together).

Judge Dredd does not have regrets. His superpower is 100% conviction in what he's doing!

That's part of the point of the creator of Judge Dredd: "Judge Dredd is traditionally portrayed as a character that can either be seen as an extreme example of an anti-hero or a full-fledged protagonist villain depending on both the specific story and the reader's own moral views. Dredd and his fellow Judges rule over a dystopic future in which he and fellow "Judges" deal out instant justice to innumerable criminals, malcontents and monsters. While they do represent order and keep Mega City One from descending even further into chaos than it already has, the Judges are also text-book fascists and as such can and do indulge in ethically sketchy behavior."

It would be very scary to literally be the only 2 cops in an enemy building. This movie does ask one crazy thing. What does everybody eat? It is implyed by Dredd that they eat the dead people that the judges take out

Yeah, the dead get shredded down. There's a number of artificial foodstuffs being made since most of the land for farming is radioactive desert, but "people paste" is a staple.

i seen this during the very limited theater run in 3D (It’s by far the best 3D films you’ll ever see) If any theaters ever show in again on a retro weekend in 3D i can’t recommend it any higher (It’s a film where the 3D itself adds so much more Quality to the film the slow-mo scenes in 3D are simply awe inspiring pure art in motion! It’s a real shame the film bombed it’s such a awesome hard R adult comic book film how it failed is simply heartbreaking

actress Lena Headey plays villains a little too well but a sign of a good actress. You may have recognised her from the both of the 300 films (Queen Gorgo) you watched recently.

You asked how far into the future this is set. Well, the comic it's based on is set in the 22nd century, but for budget reasons they made the film less futuristic so it's anybody's guess!

If you enjoyed the Movie??? Then you'll enjoy the Comics. 2000 A.D. Judge Dredd. It has solid story and it's far more Brutal. I Am The Law.

I like Stallone but I remember his judge dredd being over the top with the I am the law quote I've never read the comics but I like the 2012 dredd.
