I stopped eating breakfast. I was always told breakfast was the most important. I'm never really hungry in the morning I forced myself to do it because i thought i should. I'm finding out I don't have to eat breakfast. I have more energy, and I'm less hungry throughout the day. It was the best thing I ever did. I don't eat until at least 11:30 or noon, and I'm better for it, and I'm losing weight❤

I add cinnamon, vanilla extract, ground flax, almond meal, chia seeds, sesame seeds. And for a sweetener, I only add fruit: raisins, dehydrated apples, and a banana. Delicious. I think there is something miraculous about oatmeal, and it seems that the people who eat it everyday for years (coupled with a healthy overall lifestyle) seem to have a higher likelihood of living well into their 80s/90s. As with my grandparents, I read this time and again from people.

Eating the right kind of carbohydrates in the evening, like whole grains or vegetables, can help you sleep better. These foods help your body produce serotonin, a brain chemical that makes you feel relaxed and helps you fall asleep. It's also important because they keep your blood sugar level steady throughout the night, preventing sleep disturbances. Just make sure to eat them a few hours before bedtime, so your body has time to digest. Remember, it's not just about what you eat, but also maintaining a regular bedtime and a comfortable sleeping environment to get good sleep.

I was 107 kg with many autoimmune conditions and other problems 4 years ago. The first video I saw was your video on quitting bread for 30 days. I dropped my weight to 76 kg in just 4 months thanks to you. You changed my life forever and inspired me to study nutrition and hopefully become 10% as good of an expert that you are. I do eat oatmeal everyday BUT I use 1/4 cup of organic rolled oats soaked in 1 cup of Greek yogurt for 8 hours topped with 1/2 cup of wild blueberries and 1/4 cup of walnuts. Soaking them in Greek yogurt and eating it cold turns it into resistance starch for my microbiome and with the protein in the yogurt and fat in the walnuts that really blunts any blood sugar spike. Not everyone can or should do this but it works for me.

Have a look at what Dr Phillip Ovadia says about 'cholesterol' and statins. It wasn't necessarily that keto put you on statins... it's more likely to be the ignorance of doctors generally, and the misconceptions around blood lipids/diet and statins that dictated statins. Ovadia is a U.S. cardiac surgeon

Yes agreed. Try and keep oats organic but yes we all different. If you check out Tim Spector he points out everyone has a different microbiome even identical twins so what satisfies our hunger for longest time within reason is individual . Also different people get different blood sugar spikes from different foods. Tim Spector said his wife who is french by birth didnt get massive spikes when eating French bread but Tim who loved french bread did so unfortunately he decided it best to avoid most of time unless it a special treat. They both used blood sugar monitors to analyse what gave them spikes and what didnt. The more you learn about nutrition the more I believe you realise there are no hard and fast one size fits all fixes just general rules that wise to follow such as reduce or cut out added sugars as much as possible , eat organic if you can afford, favour high fibre nutritionally dence foods in preference to hyper processed foods such as cake and Pringles. Let’s face it I find Pringles so addictive given half a chance I would eat an entire tube in an evening zero real nutrition just junk . I did stop eating crisps and cake/biscuits for around 10 months and guess what I lost 32 pounds………small modifications to diet swapping poor foods for better ones like 25 grams of nuts for Pringles can make a real difference.

Very interesting, balanced presentation. I'm relieved to learn that i'm probably not ruining my health by eating oats everyday for breakfast. I do it more out of habit than pleasure. Don't add sugar, just a bit of cinnamon, walnuts and pumpkin seeds which hopefully take care of my prostate and general health. It's a convenient everyday breakfast but don't feel it is miraculous either for emptying the bowel; coffee is probably more efficient at that. But it keeps me easily satiated till lunch time. I remember I read somewhere that the oats have prebiotic properties meaning it helps with the gut bacteria balance. Even though I can't back it up I kind of wanted to mention it here just to give you another perspective. That the food that might not seems to be a great source of fuel to a person might actually be great for person's microbiome. Also as much as the wheat is unpopular these days especially on this channel I can imagine, wheat bran is something that might actually have a great health benefits. According to my doctor it helps to develop certain gut bacteria and kind of brushes colon walls.

I've been eating oats for breakfast literally from the day I was born. I stopped eating oats when I started keto, and gradually I got arthritis in my fingers. One morning I couldn't move any of my fingers at all. At that point for other reasons (for better bowel movements) I decided to start oatmeal again, I never expected it would have an effect on my arthritis, but miraculously the very next day, I regained movement in my fingers to a large extent. It was totally unexpected and at first I couldn't understand why my condition had improved so dramatically. The only thing I did differently was the oats! My guess is that the soluble fiber fed the good bacteria and reduced inflammation. But after seeing what you have to say about Chia seeds, I think I will give that a try! Thank you.

While adapting to keto it is so easy to get an imbalance in your electrolites due to the lack of carbohydrates. Also carbs get stored with water, if you don´t have carbs it´s easier to loose water and with that important minerals, such as magnesium, very important for your joints and muscles. I tried for about a month, just to experiment. Even though I knew this and paid attention by drinking water with some salt in the morning and taking mineral supplements, my body did not respond well. Everybody is different and has a different gut biome and metabolism.

I eat my oatmeal with: milk(full fat), greek yogurt(full fat), chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, wallnuts, ground almond, cinnamon, a fruit and some berries. I used to have a sweetener, but not anymore. Always drinking only water. Lately I started eating omelette for every other day. I feel a lot more energized again. This just proves the fact that oatmeal is good, but you can still go to great. My problem now however was that even if I had 4 eggs I felt very hungry. So I combined it with some bacon and a salad. Now I feel like I reached the best combination so far. I decided to keep eating the oatmeal for every other day because of all the variety of different foods I'm consuming. Never felt better in my life.

I so love learning about health choices in context, its so much more engaging and easier to retain. I get the idea that dairy needs to be fermented for some reason, and that milk is not good, cream is better, butter better than cream, ghee and clarified butter are fully 'good'. Is it that fermentation kills the baby cow hormones, or that the proteins are altered somehow, or both?

Mind you, I use the plain whole grain oats (not the kind with the added sugar or treats in them) cooked with unpasteurized milk... with bananas and blueberries tossed in with some honey to top it off. Always fills me up, never leaves me feeling bloated or hungry. A few of my friends would see me eating it and say it's bad for me and I was always like "how though?! What about it is bad?" This video helped shed light on some of the downsides, but I figure as long as I stay active and avoid processed foods, plain oats aren't going to hurt me much, if at all.

No added sugar, and plenty of fiber to slow down glucose absorption, plenty of protein, some unsaturated fat and fermented dairy. And it helps my digestion. I tend to eat that when I get constipated. Fills me up pretty well. Maybe because I add so many other things to it as well.

I just cut out sugar thanks to your videos motivating me to do so - Last thing I had was a can of normal Coke on Saturday 20th lunchtime. First few days were rough and I was craving a coke/fruit juice/chocolate etc like mad but it's calmed right down now. And I also noticed I am nowhere near as hungry, I feel hungry at lunch time and then again at dinner instead of constantly all day snacking. Hope I can keep it up and keep watching your various videos, this one was especially handy as you actually give examples of the precise food and amounts to eat which I haven't seen you do yet in what I have watched. Thanks for all your videos!

I'm 71 . 4 years ago my uric acid and creatinine went sky high and i went to the hospital and was given a list of what to eat and what not and to come back for a blood test every 3 months . I went 100% vegetarian , chose a supermarket with higher standards , i dont drink . My breakfast became instant oats mixed with weetabix and 3 chopped fresh fruits and cold soy milk . Within 3-6 month i was another person . I was a sportman anyway , run 3 times a weeck 25 mn 3 km etc , exercise and swim a lot but i felt the upgrade . I feel better , look better, weigh less without effort . Toilet frequency perfect . Never hungry . During that period i took vitamin B12 tabs as suppliments . I am back to eating chicken and fish but my breakfast remains strictly the same . lunch is basically a salad with a boiled egg . never eat out .

because i missed fish and chicken breast cooked properly , no skin no fat in curries and soups "i live in thailand " to add more nutrients not in veg . I do add an egg in my salad at midday for B12 . All high purin foods are banned forever . @@danluther1741

That's great how you changed things for the better for yourself. BUT, you might want to change from instant oatmeal to either rolled or steel cut. The glycemic index and load on the instant is REALLY not good for us.

@@danluther1741It would take a lot more space here than I have time for, but suffice to say that many many nutrients are more easily bio-available in an animal based diet.

Oaths bind gall and as such remove the irritation caused by unused gall juices. Through this mechanism Oaths are anti inflammatory.

High grain intake is bad, grains turn into sugars. If you're an athlete or very active it's different but most people aren't.

My go to oatmeal serving contains 1 cup oatmeal (cooked), 2 tbs Peanut butter, and a handful of Nestle's tollhouse chocolate morsels ( about 8 chocolate drops ). No syrup or extra sugar. Sometimes a sprinkling of cinnamon in the mix. The peanut butter and morsels (which contain sugar) are all the added sweetness needed. I tried just plain oatmeal , I just can't do it. 🍜
