Learn about the important antioxidant glutathione and discover 10 ways to make sure that you’re getting enough.
0:00 Introduction: What is glutathione?
1:00 Symptoms of a glutathione deficiency
1:13 Glutathione deficiency causes
3:05 How to get enough glutathione without a supplement
7:30 Check out my video about the antioxidant melatonin!
In this video, we’re going to talk about the antioxidant glutathione. Glutathione is an important antioxidant present in all of your cells. It helps detoxify heavy metals and protects against free radical damage and oxidation.
Your body makes glutathione! You should only take a supplement if you have Tylenol poisoning. Tylenol depletes glutathione and puts your liver at risk for damage. If you’re dealing with Tylenol poisoning, you may be given an NAC supplement, a precursor to help build up your glutathione.
Glutathione deficiency symptoms include the following:
• Trouble sleeping
• Brain fog
• Fatigue
• Mood issues
• Depression
• Anxiety
Top causes of glutathione deficiency:
• Alcohol
• Low-calorie diets
• Overtraining
• Vegan diets
• Low-protein intake
• A mutation of the MTHFR gene
• Folic acid supplements
Try the following tips to ensure that you’re getting enough glutathione without taking a supplement:
1. Get enough glycine. Consume organ meats, the skin from meat and fish, bone broth, and gelatin.
2. Ensure adequate B vitamin intake. Avoid synthetic B vitamins. Meat is a great source of B12 and consuming organ meats and dark leafy greens will help add folate to your diet.
3. Get plenty of vitamin C from sources like sauerkraut and leafy greens.
4. Get enough sleep.
5. Do not over-exercise. Limit high-intensity exercise to twice a week.
6. Reduce stress. Adaptogens, going for a walk, listening to music, and even physical labor can reduce stress.
7. Consume sufficient protein with plenty of calories.
8. Increase carb intake to 50 grams per day.
9. Consume cruciferous vegetables.
10. Consume seafood for trace minerals like zinc and selenium.

00:00 🧬 Glutathione is a vital antioxidant that helps detoxify the body and protect against oxidative damage caused by pollution, chemicals, and other factors. 00:42 💊 Taking glutathione supplements is generally unnecessary as the body naturally produces it, except in cases of Tylenol poisoning where NAC supplements may be beneficial. 01:56 🚫 Symptoms of glutathione deficiency include sleep problems, fatigue, brain fog, mood disorders like depression and anxiety. 02:19 🍽 Causes of glutathione deficiency can include alcohol consumption, low-calorie diets, overtraining, and inadequate protein intake, particularly for vegans. 03:00 💤 Strategies to increase glutathione levels include consuming glycine-rich foods like organ meats, getting adequate sleep, and avoiding excessive exercise. 04:07 🍗 Ensuring intake of methyl versions of B vitamins, especially B12 and folate, can support glutathione production. 04:59 🥬 Vitamin C from sources like raw sauerkraut and leafy greens can act as a precursor for glutathione synthesis. 06:22 ⏰ Sufficient protein intake is crucial for glutathione production, and excessive fasting or low-calorie diets can hinder it. 07:05 🍓 Including a moderate amount of carbohydrates, around 50 grams, can potentially improve glutathione levels by supporting amino acid absorption through insulin regulation.

as a senior, I began walking on my mini trampoline with wonderful results! I have a stabilizer bar that prevents me from falling, I simply alternate the raising of my heels while my toes stay in place. I get cardio in just a matter of minutes. My lymph system is rejoicing! I have one too! I love the fact that if you are not as agile as we once were, the gentle movements improve not only the lymphatic system but the cardiovascular system as well. I rebound when I can, which isn't often enough. Alas, as a truck driver, I really don't have the space for one on my truck.

@@Suebearish in a fashion. But you stay in place on the mat. It actually stimulates all your muscles, as well as gently stresses them to gravity and then the slight negative gravity that allows for the lymphatic system to move fluids towards your core for processing and removal. It's pretty energizing too. Once you can gain your "legs" and stay balanced, you can add more difficulty by how hard you push down your feet and rise up. Who can be unhappy jumping on a trampoline, 😃

This video is for me!!! For about 15 years I’ve been on a supplement that contains the items to form glutathione after they pass the digestive system. (This can only be found online at one site). As long as I take this my chronic fatigue has been somewhat under control- but I have trouble getting good sleep and am depressed. You have helped me understand my situation better and now can look to my diet and lifestyle to hopefully get off the expensive supplements. 😊

The issue is that is NOT a healthy choice for Human Beings. Vegetarians lack full spectrum amino-acids without a HUGE over burden of carbs and calories. Humans evolved OUR place in the food chain by hunting and eating smaller animals, if you seek to eat like a Gorilla then you need to spend hours chewing and fermenting like they do with THEIR gut biome, but sadly you are cursed with being human.

Music (the right kind of music - the message and the intention is very key, no matter the genre), journaling, arts & crafts, learning another language, and quiet meditation, have helped with stress management. Minding my sugar intake (the type of sugar and how much) has helped.

Dr Berg could you please do more research on fasting. The late great Ray Peat says that keto is good for a lot of people, but once your body is healed from insulin resistance you should increase carbs and reduce fat, as our bodies really run better on glucose rather than fat. Even Dr Mercola has changed his ideas on proper nutrition. Keto or carnivore shouldn't be a life long thing. But a way to get back to normal eating.

coincidentally, I began to use glycine last week, and yes, it heelps to sleep very well, not to fall asleep, but to sleep and feel very wel when akakening. It also relax your body and reduce anxiety. I mostly bough it for brain health, but also for muscle, cartilage, and also helps to build DNA proteins. It's the most simple of all aminoacids, and has a lot of versatility, I certainly seeing my skin more radiant, even the armas that were always dry. The problem with glycine is that also used to make glycogen, so it gets depleted easily, so I thuink that we have deficiencies of it, so taking 5 to 10 gms a day is a good idea.

Hi Doctor I take Nac daily and ACV literally cured a cough I had for 8 YEARS ! It took about a month but my cough is gone, and I tried EVERYTHING else prior to these 2 natural remedies. My question if you see this is why do internal skin whitening formulas have Glutathione as the main ingredient? Thanks again for all of your help over the years. Peace and many blessings to you and yours. 🌸👱🏼‍♀️🌸 Natasha

The REALLY sad thing is: if I ask my main-stream doctor about my Glutathione levels, he will just roll his eyes as if I'm wasting his time.

Ketosis increases glutathione levels! It has also helped me realize that my Android's operating system set my clock 1 minute faster than every other clock around me to keep up with my every move! No wonder the spell checker doesn't work correctly. Thank you, Dr. Berg! Have a wonderful day, everyone! 🙂

Simply use KZfaq's built in CC sub-titles feature and the cog icon to choose your language. Click CC for subtitles. Click Auto Translate. Click cog-wheel on right-hand-side for options. Scroll down list of languages to find your language choice. Your language subtitles appear. This works. (It might not be perfect, but the more it is used the better the software will develop.) أ
